Chapter 11
While Adrien and Marinette were enacting Adrien's plan, the longships carrying the village of Miraculous had arrived at Helheim's Gate. Wasting no time, the ships entered into the fog to begin making their way to the Dragon's Nest, massing together to prevent a repeat of the last time.
"Sound your positions. Stay within earshot." Gabriel ordered, causing various Vikings to shout commands to each other through the fog.
"Listen... Gabriel... we were overhearing some of the men just now." Gorilla spoke up, him and Nathlaie standing at the front of the ship with Gabriel and the restrained Plagg. "And some of them are wondering what it is we're up to here...Not us of course!" the blacksmith explained, only to blunder up when he realised how he might have sounded to Gabriel.
"What he means is, we know you're always the man with the plan, Gabriel. But the masses are wondering if there is in fact a plan at all, and what it might be." Nathalie elaborated, clearing up any confusion Gorilla's words might have caused as they fleet kept going deeper into the fog, avoiding the numerous sea stacks to prevent a crash.
"Find the nest and take it." Gabriel stated in a chilling voice, not taking his eyes off the horizon as he spoke.
"Ah. Of course. Send them running. The old Viking fallback. Nice and simple." Gorilla remarked, only for Gabriel to turn around and face Plagg, who was making a sort of purring sound while keeping his head lowered to the floor of the deck.
"Shhh." Gabriel commanded, silencing Gorilla long enough for him and Nathalie to see Plagg's strange behaviour as well. As the three Vikings watched Plagg, they took note of how the dragon was tilting his head to either side... as if trying to pick up a signal only he could hear. Seeing what was happening, Gabriel quickly made his way to the tiller of the boat, Nathlaie and Gorilla following behind.
"Step aside." the chieftain ordered the viking holding the tiller, taking control of it just before Plagg lifted his head from looking at the deck.Had anyone been looking Plagg dead in the eye, they would have seen the dragon's narrowed pupils as he moved his head to the right, pointing the way. In response Gabriel moved the tiller to change the boat's direction, following Plagg's lead as he led them through the fog.
"Bear to port." Damocles called out from the boat behind Gabriel, which allowed the order to pass to all the other ships so they could keep following Gabriel's lead. Gabriel's plan was working.

Back on Miraculous, Adrien was in the arena and standing in front of the King Monkey Nightmare's cage while he waited for Marinette to meet up with him.
"If you're planning on getting eaten, dude, I'd definitely go with the Gronckle." A voice behind Adrien remarked, causing the blonde to turn around and see it was Nino who spoke up as the whole class stood alongside Marinette after walking into the arena.
'Marinette had come through' Adrien thought to himself as he took in everyone's attendance. They needed all the help they could get for his plan to work.
"You were wise to seek help from the world's most deadly weapon." Kim bragged as he stepped away from the group and walked up to Adrien.
"Uh..." Adrien began, a little confused by Kim's words.
"That's me." Kim clarified, only to be pushed out of the way by an overly excited Luka.
"I love this plan!" Luka cheered, pumped up for a plan he had no idea about.
"I didn't even..." Adrien started, right before Juleka pulled her brother away from Adrien.
"You're crazy!" Juleka exclaimed, only for a fond look to appear on her face right after. "I like that..." the purple-tipped haired girl fondly admitted before trying to lean into a surprised Adrien's personal space. Thankfully for him, Marinette took her by the shoulder and pulled her away before she tried anything, directing her back into the group.
"So? What is the plan?" Marientte asked, hoping to finally know what was going on in Adrien's head. But when her answer was Adrien smirking at the cage, she immediately had an inkling of what he was up to.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Meanwhile with the ships, thanks to Plagg they had managed to avoid any more attacks from the dragons, and were closing in on the nest. But as Plagg pointed ahead, they began to pass the area they made it to the last time and saw one of their abandoned ships hanging from the sea stacks.
"Ah. I was wondering where that went." Gorilla morbidly remarked as the ships passed by the suspended wreckage, the sight unnerving some of the other vikings. Just as the top of the mast bumped into the wrecked ship, Plagg readjusted his head to point to the right, allowing Gabriel to change the direction of their ship to avoid crashing into the narrow path of the rocks. No sooner than they cleared the narrow path, Plagg started to become restless as an island beach appeared out of the fog.
"Stay low and ready your weapons." Gabriel ordered his ship's crew, only for the boat to bank onto the stoney beach, the air filled with a loud purring sound. Once the ship was stable, Gabriel made it to the front of the ship, ignoring how Plagg was trying to escape as he scanned the face of the mountain towering over the beach. As he did, Plagg soon quieted down while Gabriel caught sight of a dragon's tail hanging over a rock ledge, before it was quickly pulled away out of sight.
"We're here." the chieftain softly said in twisted joy when he saw the tail disappear, quickly jumping off the side of the boat and landing onto the beach. But when he did, the loud purring immediately quieted, causing Gabriel to rise to his full height with unease. However, he filed it down to nothing important as the rest of the ships arrived, ready to follow his orders.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Over at the arena, Adrien had released the King Monkey Nightmare and began to gently guide it toward the amazed group. As Adrien worked his magic, now uninterrupted by his father, a terrified Kim bent down and grabbed a knife he saw lying next to his foot.
"Don't even try it, Kim." Marinette warned, smacking Kim in the shoulder as she spoke. At her threat, Kim did as she asked, just as Adrien led the dragon towards him. While the dragon and trainer came to Kim, he backed away a bit, only for Adrien to try and grab his hand
"Wait! What are you--?!" Kim cried out, fighting Adrien's surprisingly strong grip so he wouldn't lose his hand.
"Relax. It's okay... it's okay." Adrien assured Kim, slowly taking the larger boy's hand and placing it where his own was. No sooner than he did, Kim began to bond with the King Monkey Nightmare, much to his joy as Kim began to laugh at the amazing turn of events. But his good mood was interrupted when Adrien walked over to the entrance of the arena
"Where are you going?!" Kim called out, turning to glance back at Adrien while still keeping his hand on the dragon's snout.
"You're going to need something to help you hold on." Adrien explained as he pulled a few coils of rope from out of a weapons storage box. As soon as he turned and faced the rest of the group, it was only then did they notice the other dragons that were all out of their cages, and waiting for the teens to attempt training them.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After the ships docked on Dragon Nest Island, the vikings aboard made quick work of setting up the giant catapults they brought with them, aiming them at the mountain. Once they were all set up, and multiple stakes were made and plunged into the ground as they faced the mountain, the vikings got ready for the hidden army they were about to face.
"When we crack this mountain open, all hell is going to break loose." Gabriel explained to the vikings surrounding him, drawing a diagram to further explain the plan.
"And my undies. Good thing I brought extras." Gorilla remarked, causing Nathalie and everyone else besides Gabriel to either roll their eyes or groan at the blacksmith in disgust.
"No matter how this ends, it ends today." Gabriel proclaimed as he walked up to the base of the mountain and raised his hand into the air.
With a clench of the chieftain's fist, the catapults were fired, the flying boulders breaking a hole into the side of the mountain. As Gabriel climbed up to the hole, peering into the inky darkness of the inside of the mountain, the vikings cheered at breaching the mountain. But at the sight of the darkness, the crowd quieted down before Gabriel signalled for a flaming ball of straw to be sent into the hole. As it sailed through the air and went into the hole, it revealed the thousands upon thousands of dragons inside. With confirmation of the nest, Gabriel charged in, screaming loudly and causing all of the dragons to flee out of the mountain in terror. But as the vikings tried to attack them, they soon realised that not a single one was attacking them back, instead going as high as they could as fast as they could.
"Is that it?" Nathalie questioned as they all watched the dragons retreat, Gabriel climbing back down to the ground.
"We've done it!" Gorilla cheered, causing the masses to cheer as well. But when Gabriel looked out and saw Plagg roaring in fear while trying even harder to escape, he knew right there and then...
"This isn't over!" Gabriel realised, right before the mountain began to shake.
"Form your ranks! Hold together!" the chieftain ordered as he turned to face the hole again, just in time for the shaking to grow worse. As a result, the mountain started to crack and a loud roar blew through the hole, nearly knocking everyone and everything to the ground. When the mountain's cracking grew even worse, Gabriel stared down the hole and saw a giant beast beginning to burst through the ground while more rocks rained down on all of them. Immediately, Gabriel, Gorilla and Nathalie jumped down from their spot at the base of the mountain to avoid getting hit.
"Get clear!" Gabriel shouted to the masses, prompting them to follow the order just in time for the giant to burst through the hole in the mountain.
"Beard of Thor... what is that?" Gorilla and Nathalie exclaimed when they turned around to face the beast when they put enough distance to avoid the flying rocks, Gabriel joining them as well. But when they did, the Scarletmoth Red Death, a dragon more than five times the size of the Vikings' ships, broke out of the mountain, roaring furiously.
"Odin, help us." Gabriel breathed out in fear as he saw the giant dragon, now seeing what Adrien was trying to warn him about. "Catapults!" the chieftain commanded as the Scarletmoth Red Death began stepping out of its lair. But the catapults did nothing to hurt the giant dragon, only annoying it as it either ate them or stepped on them, destroying the only means of real defence the vikings had against it. Seeing that they were defenceless, the masses began running away.
"Get to the ships!" Tom yelled, leading a good amount of the vikings back to the beached longboats so they could escape.
"No! NO!" Gabriel exclaimed, running in front of Tom to stop the masses from reaching the boats. Thankfully for the Vikings, Gabriel stopped them just in time before the Scarletmoth Red Death reared its head back and breathed a giant stream of fire at the ships. The resulting fire destroyed them as well as stranding the vikings on the island, and trapping Plagg on the burning wreck that was Gabriel's ship.
"Heh. Smart, that one." Gorilla remarked as he, Nathalie and Gabriel walked back to the others.
"I was a fool." Gabriel realised as he and his oldest friends met up with the others. "Lead the men to the far side of the island." the chieftain told Tom and Sabine, who nodded their heads in agreement.
"Right. Everybody to the far side of the island!" Tom shouted, he and his wife leading the vikings away from the burning wreckage and their chieftain.
"Gorilla, Nathalie, go with them." Gabriel ordered his friends, hoping that they would get to safety as well before heading towards the rampaging dragon.
"I think we'll stay with you, just in case you're thinking of doing something crazy." Nathalie remarked as she and Gorilla followed behind, knowing what was going on in Gabriel's mind.
"I can buy them all a few minutes if I give that thing someone to hunt." Gabriel explained, turning to face his friends as he spoke, ready to sacrifice himself to fix his mistake. But before he could run off to do so, Nathalie and Gorilla grabbed him by the shoulders and stood by his sides.
"Then we can triple that time." Gorilla added with a smirk, Nathalie pulling out her crossbow with a matching smirk as well. With his friends encouragement and support, Gabriel smiled at them before they all faced the dragon.
"HERE!" Gabriel yelled at the Scarletmoth Red Death, running towards it.
"Oh, no, HERE!" Gorilla and Nathalie called out, following behind their chieftain and friend. As they neared the giant dragon, Nathalie fired her crossbow, allowing the arrow to hit it just under its eye and direct its attention to her and Gorilla. "Come on! Bite us!" Nathalie and Gorilla yelled, keeping the beast distracted.
"No, me!" Gabriel shouted, drawing some of the dragon's attention onto himself. But instead of taking a bite at either viking, the Scarletmoth Red Death began to rear its head back to fire at them. Before it could fire, however, a fire blast hit it in the back of its head, disorienting it. At the sight of the attack on the dragon, Gabriel and his friends paused in their distraction and stared up at the dragon in confusion... until a flock made up of the dragons from their arena flew out from behind it. And upon closer inspection, they could all see Adrien and his friends riding on their backs.
"Luka, Juleka, watch your backs! Move, Max!" Adrien ordered on the back of the Multimouse Nadder, Marinette behind him as they banked around the Scarletmoth Red Death, leaving Gabriel in both confusion and awe.
"LOOK AT US! WE'RE ON A DRAGON! WE'RE ON DRAGONS! ALL OF US!" Kim shouted in excitement on the back of the King Monkey Nightmare, causing the rest of the vikings to look up and see them, leaving the adults in awe.
"Up, let's move it!" Adrien called out as they circled back towards the Scarletmoth Red Death, charging at the giant dragon.
"Every bit the boar-headed, stubborn Viking you ever were!" Nathalie exclaimed, now seeing the family resemblance between the father and son. In response Gabriel could only nod as they watched Adrien and the other teens begin their advance.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Up in the air, Adrien led the others to begin circling above the Scarletmoth Red Death, in hopes of making a plan to fight against it to buy Adrien some time to find and free Plagg.
"Nino, Alya and Max, break it down!" Adrien told the resident dragon nerds, knowing they would have some insight as to how to fight against the giant dragon.
"Okay! Heavily armoured skull and tail made for bashing and crushing!" Nino observed on the back of the Carapace Gonkele as they watched the Scarletmoth Red Death, who chomped down on a longship and turned it into splinters
"Steer clear of both!" Alya added on from her spot on the Rena Rouge Timberjack, holding onto its horns to keep herself from falling off.
"Small eyes, large nostrils! Relies on hearing and smell!" Max finished off as he himself was riding on the back of the Pegasus Hackatoo.
"Got it, here's the plan." Adrien began, now having a strategy in mind as he got everyone's attention.
"Kim, Max, Alya and Nino, hang in its blind spot! Make some noise, keep it confused!" the blond told the mentioned parties, knowing they would be the best to do it with their choice in weapons. "Jule, Lu, find out if it has a shot limit! Make it mad!" Adrien added, turning to face the twins as they rode on the Purple Viperion Zippleback.
"That's our specialty!" Juleka and Luka cheered, happy to cause some chaos.
"Since when?! Everyone knows I'm more irritating!" Kim complained, thinking he was better suited for the task than the twins. "See?!" the muscle head shouted before making a silly face, much to Adrien's annoyance at his resistance.
"Just do what I told you!" Adrien yelled at Kim, hoping to get him to focus on the plan. "I'll be back as soon as I can!" the blonde assured before he had the Multimouse Nadder dive down towards the ground, hoping to find Plagg before it was too late.
"Don't worry, bro! We got it covered!" Nino called out before he and the others dove down to enact the plan
"Yeah!" Alya cheered in excitement as they flew down to pass under the Scarletmoth Red Death's bludgeon-like tail, approaching the giant dragon from behind to avoid detection. As they did, Juleka and Luka flew their dragon to fly in front of the Scarletmoth Red Death, while Max and Kim flew to the left side of its head, with Alya and Nino taking the spot on its right.
"Troll! Butt-Elf! Bride of Grendel!" Luka and Juleka taunted the Scarletmoth Red Death as they flew by its head, allowing for the others to take position to use their weapons to create enough noise to distract it further. As the twins began to fly away from the dragon after teasing it, the Scarletmoth Red Death blew another stream of fire at them, which they narrowly dodged as they flew. As they did, the others had begun to make as much noise as possible with what they had on hand, but it seemed to not be working as well as they had hoped.
"Uh, this thing doesn't have a blind spot!" Nino called out as the Scarletmoth Red Death moved its eyes to stare at him and Alya, the teens still beating their weapons to try and enact a reaction from the dragon.
Meanwhile, Adrien and Marinette were circling above the burning ships, trying to see which one had Plagg trapped on it. Thankfully for them, it didn't take long to find him due to Plagg's frightened roaring, telling them exactly where to go.
"There!" Adrien exclaimed, pointing to the corresponding ship. With the location set, Adrien flew the Multimouse Nadder towards the burning ship and soon saw Plagg unable to free himself from his restraints. Wasting no time at all, Adrien managed to slide to the back of the dragon's back, letting Marinette take control of the Multimouse Nadder so he could jump onto the still intact deck of the longboat,
"Go help the others!" the boy called out, knowing that their friends would need the extra help. With permission to leave, Marinette flew away from the burning ship and went to join the group, allowing Adrien to turn and face his dragon to free him. "Okay, hold on. Hold on." Adrien assured Plagg as he took off the belt around his mouth, before beginning to try and pry off the loops holding the chains to the wooden platform the dragon was on.
Unbeknownst to him, the group surrounding the Scarletmoth Red Death's head were beginning to finally have some luck in their part of the plan.
"It's working!" Kim cheered as the giant dragon began to become annoyed by their constant clanking.
"Yeah! It's working!" Alya and Nino parroted as well. But unbeknownst to them, not only did the noise confuse the Scarletmoth Red Death, it also disoriented their own dragons. While Max, Nino and Alya dragons managed to hover in place despite the noise, Kim's dragon was hobbling towards the giant dragon and bumped into the top of its skull.
"Agghh!" Kim shouted as he was knocked off his dragon and left stranded on the Scarletmoth Red Death's head, only managing to catch himself before sliding off of it.
"We've lost power over our dragons!" Max yelled as his, Alya and Nino's dragons began to lose control and tumble to the ground.
"KIM! DO SOMETHING!" Alya shouted to Kim while Nino threw him the hammer he brought along. Thankfully, Kim managed to catch it before the three of them tumbled to the ground. As they did, Alya and Max's dragons managed to land on their stomachs, instead of on their riders.
"We're okay!" Max and Alya cheered out, only for Nino's dragon to follow suit and land on its stomach too. But instead of stopping there, the Carapace Gonckle managed to flip over and land onto the bespeckled boy.
"Less okay...!" Nino groaned out from under his dragon. With help from Alya and Max, they managed to get him out from under the dragon, only to scrabble to their feet to run as the Scarletmoth Red Death raised its foot above them. It was at this time that Kim knew he needed to help them out so they could get away alive.
"I can't miss! What's wrong buddy? Got something in your eye?" Kim taunted the Scarletmoth Red Death as he began to hit its right set of eyes with the hammer, making it roar out in pain and just barely miss the dragon nerds as it stomped its foot down. Feeling glad that his idea worked, Kim kept hitting the giant dragon's eyes while Marinette finally managed to fly up to circle around the Scarletmoth Red Death in case Kim needed help.
"Yeah! You're the Viking!" Marinette cheered Kim on, causing him to become distracted as he admired Marinette as she flew by.
He was so absent minded that when he hit the Scarletmoth Red Death's bottom right eye, the dragon bucked its head, shaking him off roll to the bottom of its crown-like frill.
"Whoa!" Kim exclaimed, hanging onto the Scarletmoth Red Death's frill as he looked down at the ground below them. 'DO! NOT! LET! GO! KIM!' the muscle head cried out in his thoughts, hanging on for dear life as the giant dragon moved its head around and made it harder for him to hang on.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As the Scarletmoth Red Death thrashed around while trying to get Kim off of it, its tail crashed into the longship next to the one Adrien and Plagg were on. This resulted in the mast of the ship to nearly crash into Adrien, who barely had any time to dodge it since he was so focused on freeing Plagg. But before he could recover from the shock of nearly being crushed, the Scarletmoth Red Death's back leg stepped onto the ship they were on, crushing it to splinters. With the boat gone, both Adrien and Plagg were sent into the water, with a still restrained Plagg sinking to the bottom of the water.
Seeing his friend in trouble, Adrien held in his remaining breath and swam down to continue freeing Plagg. But despite his and Plagg's best efforts to break the dragon free, it wasn't enough. And soon enough... Adrien ran out of air. However, just as he was starting to listlessly float in the water, much to Plagg's worry, someone pulled him towards the surface. At the sight of his friend being taken away from him, Plagg roared in worry, hating that he couldn't do anything to stop Adrien from leaving.
Fortunately for Plagg and Adrien, it was Gabriel that had grabbed his son, breaking the water's surface with a large inhale before he swam to the shore. When he reached the beach, he placed Adrien back onto a rock ledge near the sea, who coughed the lingering water in his lungs. With his son safe, Gabriel then turned back around towards the water as Adrien managed to lift himself up to see him.
"Dad?" Adrien muttered in confusion before he watched Gabriel dive back into the water. Under the surface, Gabriel swam back down to where Plagg was, soon finding himself floating in front of the restrained dragon. At the sight of the chieftain, Plagg was startled by his presence but could only glare at him as he watched Gabriel reach out for his collar restraint. With strength rivalling that of a beast, Gabriel pulled the collar apart, freeing Plagg.
When he realised that he was now free, Plagg lunged at Gabriel through the water and grabbed him. But instead of attacking him like Gabriel thought he would, Plagg lifted them both out of the water and flew over to the rocks Adrien was on. With gentle care, Plagg laid Gabriel down onto the rocks next to Adrien and landed onto a higher ledge of the rocks, soon gesturing for Adrien to climb onto his back to join the fight.
"You got it, bud." the blonde said before he ran to his dragon and climbed onto his saddle.
"Adrien." Gabriel exclaimed, grabbing ahold of his son's arm and pulling his attention away from strapping himself down into the saddle and directing it onto his dad. "I'm sorry... for-- for everything." the chieftain apologised, truly regretful for how he treated his son.
"Yeah, me too." Adrien replied, feeling the same way.
"You don't have to go up there." Gabriel stated, hoping to prevent his son from risking his life in such a way.
"We're Vikings. It's an occupational hazard." Adrien argued, a smirk appearing on his face as he spoke. At that moment, Gabriel could see who his son had truly become... and he liked it.
"I'm proud to call you my son." Gabriel proudly admitted, making Adrien's chest swell with warmth at his father's words.
"Thanks, Dad." Adrien thanked, gently pulling his hand away from his dad to finish strapping himself onto the saddle. Once he was secure, he and Plagg take off to help their friends, leaving Gabriel to watch them in wonder and pride. As the duo climbed into the air with a roar, Marinette turned around at the sound and saw them.
"He's up!" Marinette exclaimed, happy that they were safe. At the sight of her crush and his dragon, Marientte met back up with Juleka and Luka before they flew back over to the Scarletmoth Red Death. "Get Kim out of there!" the bluenette ordered the twins before banking to the left to distract the giant dragon.
"I'm on it!" Luka and Juleka eagerly replied, only for it to lead to them arguing amongst themselves as they flew up in front of the Scarletmoth Red Death. As they did, Kim, who had managed to climb up from his previously precarious position, ran to the dragon's front horn and jumped off, letting the twins catch him while they flew up.
"I can't believe that worked!" Luka cheered as they flew away from the Scarletmoth Red Death, only for the giant dragon to start sucking in air. As it did, both Marinette and the Multimouse Nadder were both being sucked in, unable to get away. Thankfully for them, Adrien and Plagg saw their dangerous situation and zoomed over to stop the giant dragon.
"Chat Noir Fury!" Gorilla yelled when he saw the offending dragon flying overhead, hearing the high-pitched screech that signalled the dragon's fire blast.
"Get down!" Nathalie exclaimed, causing everyone to duck down just before Plagg fired a blast at the Scarletmoth Red Death's lower jaw. As a result, it caused both Marinette and her dragon to be free from the giant dragon's pull, but thanks to the sudden blast, it threw the girl off of the Multimouse Nadder.
"AAHH!" Marinette screamed as she went hurtling towards the ground. At the sound of the girl's screams, Plagg turned back around and zoomed over to Marinette to catch her, passing by where she was falling. When the sounds of her screams stopped after passing by where Marinette was, Adrien soon became worried that they didn't catch the love of his life.
"Did you get her?" Adrien worriedly asked Plagg, causing the Chat Noir Fury to look down at his claws and see Marinette smiling up at him as she hung in his grasp by her foot. At the sight of the unharmed girl, Plagg smiled a toothless grin back at her before swinging her into the air and re-catching her by her shoulders. As Plagg did so, Adrien steered them to the ground, allowing Plagg to gently place Marinette's feet onto the ground and let her go before pulling back up into the air.
"Go get 'em, kitty." Marinette cheered after recovering from her slight stumble from the landing, watching Adrien and Plagg as they gained altitude.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"That thing has wings!" Adrien noticed as he and Plagg kept climbing into the air, having a good vantage point to properly observe their foe. " Okay, let's see if it can use them!" the blonde exclaimed, causing Plagg to redirect his flight path to turn back towards the ground, dive bombing towards the Scarletmoth Red Death.
As they increased speed, they neared the ground enough to pull up and fire at the giant dragon. The resulting blast was so big that it toppled the Scarletmoth Red Death to the ground with a large cloud of dust. But it didn't stay down for long, as it raised its wings into the air to take off into the air with a lumbering roar, dead set on following Adrien and Plagg.
"Do you think that did it?" Adrien asked Plagg as they flew towards the sea stacks, looking back behind him as he spoke. But when he did, he was greeted by the sight of the pursuing Scarletmoth Red Death. "Well, it can fly." the boy dryly remarked before he and Plagg increased their speed to fly away from the behemoth of a dragon tailing them, weaving in and out of the sea stacks to help them.
As they flew amongst the sea stacks, the Scarletmoth Red Death crashing into the more larger ones due to not being able to adjust its flight path fast enough, they passed by the vikings amassed on the beach. The crowd watched in amazement, Adrien's friends cheering for him, as they passed by, only to be pushed back by the giant dragon crashing into a nearby sea stack, the debris kicking up more dust. But when Adrien saw that he and Plagg weren't able to shake the Scarletmoth Red Death off their tail, he knew he had to get creative. Thankfully for him, all it took was a glance up at the dark storm clouds above them for the creative juices to flow enough for a plan to form.
"Okay, Plagg, time to disappear!''Adrien told Plagg, the dragon nodding his head in agreement before Adrien adjusted his foot pedal to allow Plagg's tail to open up. "Come on, bud!" the blonde encouraged, leading them both to ascend into the clouds, the Scarletmoth Red Death following close behind while the vikings on the ground kept watching. As they climbed higher and higher, the giant dragon kept trying to bite at them in hopes of taking them out, only to quickly grow tired of it and prepare to fire at them.
"Here it comes!" Adrien yelled when he saw the Scarletmoth Red Death rear its head back, prompting Plagg to dodge the accompanying stream of fire at them. With the fire avoided, Plagg and Adrien kept flying up into the clouds, keeping ahead of the giant dragon while the vikings soon lost sight of them from the ground. As the boy and Chat Noir Fury drew near to the darkest clouds, the Scarletmoth Red Death tried to bite at the once again, only for them to disappear from its line of sight after passing into the dark clouds.
Seeing that it had lost its prey, the giant dragon hovered in the air as it looked around for any sign of Adrien and
Plagg. As it did, the vikings on the beach all looked up at the sky in worry as they waited for something to happen. Neither the vikings and Scarletmoth Red Death didn't have to wait long when a piercing shriek filled the air, and a corresponding fire blast hit the giant dragon in its right wing. While the giant dragon cried out in pain from the hit, Plagg swooped around in front of the Scarletmoth Red Death and kept out of sight thanks to the dark clouds, using them to his advantage.
Plagg and Adrien then zoomed around the giant dragon, using their size and speed to their advantage as well as the environment while Plagg rapidly fired on the Scarletmoth Red Death. The resulting blasts were enough to light up the sky in an electric green aura, allowing the vikings some semblance of what was going on. But the Scarletmoth Red Death had had enough of their tricks and released a long stream of fire in a furious attempt to draw Adrien and Plagg out of hiding. The strategy had worked very well in the giant dragon's advantage, the stream of fire approaching the duo from behind at a ridiculously fast pace before Adrien saw it in the corner of his eye.
"Watch out!" the boy yelled as they grazed the stream of flames. But when they cleared the fire, Adrien looked back and saw that Plagg's artificial tailfin had caught fire. "Okay, time's up! Let's see if this works." Adrien decided, making Plagg bank backwards and dive down at the Scarletmoth Red Death.
"COME ON! IS THAT THE BEST YOU CAN DO?!" the blonde taunted the giant dragon as they grew close enough to be in its line of sight, avoiding its large wings and snapping jaw as they banked across its face. When they were cleared from the Scarletmoth Red Death, Adrien and Plagg began to dive back down towards the island, the giant dragon following behind them. As they descended, the Scarletmoth Red Death had more gain on them due to its larger size and weight and nearly catching up to Adrien and Plagg, whose tail was becoming less and less usable.
"Stay with me, buddy. We're good. Just a little bit longer." Adrien assured Plagg, as well as himself as they neared the ground, the dragon's tail fin smouldering behind them. Despite the technical difficulties, the duo and giant dragon kept dive bombing to the ground, while the Scarletmoth Red Death decided to use the opportunity to take them out altogether.
"Hold, Plagg..." the blonde told his dragon, awaiting the telltale sound of the giant dragon breathing in to fire at them. As if the gods answered his prayers, the Scarletmoth Red Death began to fire at them once again. "NOW!" Adrien yelled, prompting Plagg to turn around and fire into the giant dragon's mouth.
As a result, the flammable gas the giant dragon had prepared to fire at them was used against it as it now made its way through its body. A few seconds after Plagg had fired into its mouth, they all reached the end of the clouds, revealing that they were only a couple hundred feet from the ground. Now seeing the approaching ground, the Scarletmoth Red Death attempted to pull up, only for its wings to start smouldering into tatters as a result of Plagg using its fire against it. Seeing how close they were to crashing, Adiren and Plagg turned back around to attempt an escape, being pulled to the right side of the giant dragon after Plagg used his wings to pull up. And without its wings, the Scarletmoth Red Death crashed into the ground of the island, a giant explosion erupting from its body and blowing the crowd back.
But unbeknownst to the vikings, Adrien and Plagg were unable to escape the Scarletmoth Red Death fast enough to avoid being caught in the explosion. This led to them bobbing and weaving through the smaller explosions along the giant dragon's body while a wave of fire followed behind them as they climbed higher into the air. Unfortunately for them, as Adrien tried to use the tailfin to help them out, it finally fell away from Plagg, falling into the inferno below them. And as if to add insult to injury, as they were about to clear the explosion altogether, the Scarletmoth Red Death's tail came crashing towards them.
"No! NO!" the boy shouted as the tail neared them, soon crashing into them and separating the boy and dragon. The crash also knocked Adrien out and caused the jacket Marinette made for him to go into the flames. As he tumbled through the air, Plagg saw Adrien falling towards the flames and immediately took action. With a yelp-like roar, Plagg adjusted his flight path and dove down after Adrien, hoping to save him from the flames as they enveloped them both.

When the flames finally died down, the masses that were standing on the beach had begun to search for Adrien and Plagg, Gabriel being the one leading them. However, as the smoke cleared, they found no sign of either the boy or dragon.
"Adrien! Adrien! Son!" Gabriel called out through the falling ash and lifting smoke, hoping for his son to call back and say he was alright. But his hopes were dashed away when he saw Plagg laying on the ground in the distance, not moving at all. "Adrien." the chieftain muttered to himself in fear, immediately running over to the unconscious dragon.
Soon enough, he was a few steps away from Plagg and could see that Adrien was not in his saddle.
Dread filled Gabriel as he watched Plagg roll to his side with a strained groan, his wings wrapped around himself, and soon found that the dragon's tail fin was destroyed as well. At the sight of the scene in front of him, Gabriel fell to his knees in shock.
"Oh, son... I did this..." Gabriel whispered in a broken voice, his heart breaking as he took in the fact that his son was gone. Behind him, the crowd began to gather and were all saddened by the scene in front of them. But when Marinette, Nathalie and Gorilla broke through to the front of the crowd, they were the most affected.
"No..." Marinette uttered in a soft voice, raising her hands to cover her mouth out of reflex as she saw what was happening in front of her. Even the dragons that fought with them had reunited with the group and landed quietly behind the vikings, feeling the sombre mood affect them as well. But as the mood grew more sad, Gabriel lifted his head up the slightest bit, just in time to see Plagg wake up with a groan before narrowing his eyes at the inconsolable father.
"Oh, son...I'm so sorry..." Gabriel managed to say, his voice filled with sorrow as he stood at the brink of tears. But at his words, Plagg finally opened up his wings, revealing an unconscious Adrien, sans his jacket, in the grasp of his paws.
"Adrien!" the chieftain exclaimed, his hope revived at seeing his son's body. He then slid over to his son, taking him in his arms as he worriedly checked to see if he was injured, soon placing his ear to Adrien's chest. "Oh, he's alive! You brought him back alive!" Gabriel proclaimed in a breaking voice when hearing his son's heartbeat. All around them, the crowd and dragons celebrated the miracle that just took place, happy to see Adrien was going to be okay... even if the dragons coming into the crowd unnerved some of them for a few seconds. But Gabriel was more focused on the Chat Noir Fury in front of him who was responsible for keeping his son alive, as he placed a grateful hand upon Plagg's head.
"Thank you... for saving my son." the chieftain thanked Plagg, knowing that he owed the dragon a tremendous debt. At his words, Plagg smiled up at him, glad to not be fighting the father of his best friend anymore.
"Well, you know... most of him." Gorilla remarked as he and Nathalie walked up to the chieftain, causing him to look up at them in confusion... at least, before they pointed out what they were referring to.
