Hiccup woke to the loud sound of someone banging their first against the window in his room, taking a quick glance at the clock on his bedside table, he saw that it was 3am. 

A few things shot through his head then, is that a thief? Are they being robbed? Who the heck would bang their fist against his window at 3 freaking am?! Hiccup then looked around his room, trying to find something he can use to fight (if he had to he wasn't really a fighter.) 

Maybe he should wake his dad? That seemed like a good idea. 

He was about to jump out of bed to run into his father's room, he had already reached the door when he heard a familiar voice speak up behind the window.

"Hiccup, for Thor's sake! Open the damned window, it's pouring!"

That voice had Hiccup locking the door instead of opening it and running to his father's room, and turning around to open the window. Once he opened it, he realized that it was indeed, raining outside. Rain hit his face as the person jumped inside his room, Hiccup quickly closed the window again.

"What are you doing?!" He whisper shouted at the person that just randomly decided to turn up at his home at 3am, while it's pouring outside. "If dad sees you I'm dead, you know that."

That comment had the person snort in amusement, "what, so you're saying your dad isn't even allowing his 18 year-old son to have a girl in his room at 3am?" The person said in a mocking voice, raising a brow at the boy - who was, as she realized, only in his boxers. 

Hiccup seemed to realize that too, since he blushed heavily, "ugh, yes, you know how dad is," he exclaimed, walking over to his closet, pulling out some clothes for the girl to wear and also some for himself since he didn't quite enjoy being only in boxers while his best friend and long-time crush Astrid Hofferson was in his room. 

He then walked into the bathroom that was attached to his room and got a towel for her too, since she was pretty much soaked from walking through the rain all the way to his house. 

Hiccup handed her the things he just got and watched he vanish into the bathroom. He then put on his shorts and white T-Shirt and sat down on his bed, patiently waiting for Astrid to finish putting on his clothes. Seven minutes later she came out of his bathroom again, now dry and with new clothes. Hiccup gave her one of his black shirts and some random basketball shorts. 

"So what are you doing here in my room at," he threw another glance at the clock on his bedside table, "3:11am?" Not that he didn't enjoy her company, but it would be nice to know anyway.

Astrid just sighed and sat down next to him, "mom and I had a huge fight again, I just had to get away from home and I didn't know where else to go since dad is out of town for the next few weeks," she told him, leaning her head on his shoulder.

Astrid's parents divorced when she was just 5 years old, she's been living with her mother ever since. The problem was, that she and her mother often had major disagreements since Astrid came more after her dad than her mom and well, Astrids mother and father divorced for a reason. 

Hiccup gently wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her close to him. 
"Are you okay?" He gently whispered.

Astrid simply nodded, "yeah, but, c-can I stay with you for tonight?" 

The auburn haired boy looked down at his best friend, "sure," he then tried to get up, "just let me prepare the guest room for y-"

"No, I mean can I stay with you here...in your room?"

Hiccup fell down on his seat again... in his room? With him in his bed? Was this some kind of dream? He tried to from words, but wasn't able to at this very moment, so he just eagerly nodded in reply. Astrid smiled and snuggled close to him, "thank you."

They sat like that for a few more minutes, until Astrid yawned loudly. Hiccup withdrew his arm from around her waist and smiled at her, "we should probably go to sleep," he suggested with a light, but sleepy smile. Astrid nodded in agreement and crawled in his bed.

Hiccup followed shortly after, crawling in bed next to her, his heart racing like crazy. Sure, they were best friends, but that doesn't change the fact that Hiccup had often dreamed of night like that where he can snuggle close to Astrid and tell her his thought about how beautiful he thought she was, maybe also kiss her. 

It was a dream, his dream, one that might never come true, but Hiccup liked to think that it may come true one day.

He sighed and put one of his arms behind his head, Astrid then moved, placing her head on his chest. He doubted she would be able to sleep if she kept her head like that, since his heart was beating like crazy. Astrid didn't seem to mind though, after a few minutes she was fast asleep while being snuggled closely to Hiccup's chest.

Hiccup only smiled and slowly drifted to sleep himself, knowing that he was Astrid's sanctuary and that he always would be there for her, no matter what.
