He's a Nobody

--------------------

Story:
This is a modern One Shot. Hiccup is eighteen years old and the schools nobody but, he's a very talented Artist. Astrid's seventeen and kinda popular at their school but unfortunately a horrible Artist. You'll see...

--------------------

Another day has passed, another day where Hiccup was bullied. His life wasn't easy at the moment. School was hell and his father wasn't home because he was the Major of their little hometown, Berk. Hiccup wished his father was home more often, so he could talk to him about his problems at school, he has no friends and was bullied since fifth grade... Okay, there actually is someone who is his friend, a black little Dog named Toothless. Hiccup once walked home after he got beaten up by one of his bullies, Ryker, and the Dog walked with him, like a good friend would do. After that Hiccup kept the mutt and they became best friends. That was about two years ago and Toothless and Hiccup had a strong bond now.

As Hiccup arrived at home, he went upstairs to his room. His father was the Major so their House was quite big... Toothless was bouncing around him and Hiccup groaned "Not now Bud, I got some homework to do..." Toothless looked at him with his green eyes and jumped on his bed, taking a nap while Hiccup was doing his Homework.

After twenty minutes, Hiccup was about to finish his homework as the doorbell rang, Toothless got up and sped downstairs to bark at the door, as usual... "Shhhh! Calm down, Bud!" Hiccup exclaimed covering his ears. "Wait here Bud," he said and made his way to the door to open it. Two people stood there, one of them - to Hiccups surprise, was Astrid Hofferson, the schools 'Queen Bee' and another person who disliked Hiccup for no reason. Next to Astrid was a tall man with brown hair and blue eyes. "Uhm, how can I help you...?" Hiccup asked them a little bit confused since Astrid wouldn't even get near him, if she was on fire and he had the only bucket of water in town.

"Hello, is your father here? I need to talk to him about something very important." The man next to Astrid - probably her father - said and Hiccup was getting more confused.

He shrugged "He's not here today, and probably he's not here tomorrow either. To be honest, I have no idea where he is and when he's coming back." Hiccup said. Astrids father rose a brow.

"Okay but can we come in for a few minutes? I need to talk to you too." He said and Hiccup blinked, then shook his head once he snapped back to reality.

"Uhm, sure why not...?" He said more as a question and led the two of them into the sitting room, where Toothless was waiting patiently. As he saw Hiccup, he stood up and raced to the visitors. "Toothless, get back here." Hiccup said and Toothless looked at him a little bit disappointed. "Uhm, sorry about that, there aren't any visitors here that often." He said scratching the back of his neck a little bit embarrassed by the mutts behavior.

"That's not a problem," Astrid's father said while Astrid remained quiet and just stood next to her father with an angry expression. She's probably not happy to be here, well why would she be happy? She's in the house of the schools nobody!

Hiccup patted Toothless' head "So what's the matter..?" he asked the two visitors.

"I heard that you're a very talented Artist, is that right?" Astrid's father asked him and Hiccup got even more confused.

"I wouldn't say that I'm 'a very talented Artist' but I like drawing and stuff." Hiccup replied while patting Toothless' head.

Mr Hofferson looked at him "I heard your grades in Art are the best of the whole year. So, my daughter isn't a talented Artist, and to pass with a straight A average this year, I need you to help her." He said and Hiccup's jaw dropped. Astrid just stood next to her Dad with an angry expression, this obviously isn't her decision.

"So, you need me to tutor Astrid?" Hiccup asked confused, but he was excited tho, if he could tutor Astrid they may become friends again. Hiccup actually had a crush on her ever since Kindergarten. Back in Elementary School the two of them were friends but a lot has changed since then.

"Yes, it's very important that she has a straight A average and Art is the only subject where she hasn't an A." Mister Hofferson explained and Hiccup nodded. "So when can you start tutoring her?"

Hiccup looked at him and shrugged, "since I don't really have friends," he began before he was interrupted by Toothless who bit his hand softly "except for this useless dog over here I mean," he corrected himself "I don't have anything to do so yeah, it's up to you I guess."

Astrids father nodded, "how about tomorrow at 4 pm?" he asked and Hiccup nodded. "Okay, so my daughter will be here tomorrow at 4 pm." He said and they rose from their seats. Hiccup led them to the door, trying to ignore Astrid's angry glance at him. "Oh before I forget it, can you give this to your father when he's back?" Mr Hofferson said handing Hiccup a letter.

Hiccup nodded, "I will."

"Thank you, see you tomorrow!" Martin said and left the house, Astrid by his side.

Hiccup just stood there and stared after them. He couldn't believe that he's going to tutor Astrid.

Astrids father started the car "you could at least have smiled, Astrid! Hiccup's a nice guy and the two of you were friends, why didn't you say hi or something like that..?" He asked her while driving out of the driveway.

"Dad, he's a nobody! No one likes him, so why would I?" She snapped.

"Because Hiccup is a very nice and friendly guy. He's tutoring you even if you're blanking him in school. At least be nice to him tomorrow..." Her father said and Astrid rolled her eyes. She hated it when he was right.
Hiccup really is a nice guy and he deserves better friends than just a Dog. But then, Astrid's got a reputation to keep. She can't just be friends with him again... But.... since there's only the two of them tomorrow, why not be nice to Hiccup...?

Time skip, Saturday 4 pm

Hiccup was lazily laying on his sofa as the doorbell rang. Toothless sped down stairs to do his usual door-barking. Hiccup opened the door and it revealed a beautiful, blonde, young woman.
"Uh, hey." He greeted her.

"Hey..." She replied. Hiccup showed her the way to his room, Toothless was bouncing around them like a frog.

"So you know what we're doing in Art at the moment, do you?" He asked Astrid and she nodded. "Great, so have you already done the homework?"

Astrid shook her head "no, not yet."

Hiccup nodded, "so I have no idea of tutoring so I thought I'll just watch you draw and uhm, tell you what you're doing wrong?" He said and Astrid nodded. The conversation was kinda awkward... Astrid got her sketchbook and a pencil and started drawing. Hiccup watched her closely while doing so. "Uh ok, so there's one mistake you're making. All those lines you're drawing have to meet at one point, so you can create an 3D Effect." He said and got out his sketchbook to show her.

"Oooh, ok..." she said and started erasing. "Sorry I really suck at Art..." she said and Hiccup laughed a little bit.

"You're doing fine. You just need to practice and it'll be ok." He told her and she nodded and started drawing again. The situation was really awkward.

"Is this ok?" Astrid asked him, making Hiccup look at her sketch. Hiccup nodded even if she could do it better.

He smiled, "way better." Astrid smiled back. Hiccup wasn't a bad guy, he was friendly, nice and she kinda liked him.
And she didn't even know why she disliked him at school, he didn't deserve it. But Astrid had to do what the others were doing, otherwise she might lose her popularity.
"Uhm, are you thirsty? I can get some soda if you are." Hiccup said scratching the back of his neck.

Astrid shook her head, "no I'm fine. But what are we going to do now?" She asked him. Hiccup opened his mouth to say something but shut it a second later and shrugged.

"I don't know. You're the one who has friends so you need to suggest something." He said. He was right tho, last time a friend was here to visit him was at least four years ago.

Astrid looked at him, "we could play with your Dog, what's his name?"

"Toothless."

"Why Toothless?"

"He lost a few teeth. Dunno why..."

"So he was a stray?"

"Yep, he walked home with me two years ago after I was beaten up by Ryker. I kept him after that." Hiccup said and Astrid nodded.

"He has green eyes, that's a rare eye color especially for Dogs," she said and patted the black mutt.

"Useless Dog," Hiccup murmured and watched Astrid patting Toothless. Astrid smiled she missed his humor. "So what do you want to do now?" He asked her and Astrid shrugged. She looked around his huge room, there was a desk with a computer on it and a walk in closet. Next to the walk in closet was a door that leads to the bathroom. There were a few posters of Dragons on the wall - Astrid could remember those posters. It were posters of his favorite Dragon a Night Fury, they talked about Dragons when they were still kids. They both loved Dragons, Astrid's Dragon was a Deadly Nadder she called Stormfly. They spent hours talking about them and imagining their own Adventures with them.

Soon a thought hit Astrid, "wait a second," she said and looked at Hiccup, "you know, when we were kids we often talked about Dragons," she continued and Hiccup nodded, "your Dragon was a Night Fury and you named him Toothless." She finished and Hiccup blushed a little bit.

"Uhm, yes I mean I still love Dragons and this useless mutt over here reminded me alot of a Night Fury," he admitted scratching the back of his neck. "Do you have a pet? I remember you had a Deadly Nadder and you called her Stormfly." Hiccup asked her.

"Yeah, I actually have a dog and her name really is Stormfly," Astrid admitted and Hiccup laughed.

"Some things never change, right..?"
