Graduation

It was a sunny day on Berk, there was a huge crowd of people in the Gym of the Berk High, today was graduation day, and the families of the students were all in the gym, waiting for the ceremony to start.

Stoick Haddock was sitting in one of the front rows, much to the annoyance of the people who were seated behind him, since the man was huge and looking past him was a real challenge, smiling and fidgeting his leg in excitement.

Today was the day where his only son, Hiccup Haddock was graduating, and he couldn't be more proud of him. Hiccup started school with some problems, he was bullied by some students and had a hard time  finding friends, his grades weren't that good either and it gave Stoick a real challenge to help him finding his way.

But they managed it, as a team. Well, Stoick had a little bit of help, to be honest. Hiccup had met a girl when they had been partnered up for a group project, and it didn't take much time, until he fell in love with the said girl. The girl didn't like the auburn haired boy at first, but the more the two of them worked together, the better friends they became.

And now, the two of them actually are a couple. Yep, you heard that right the at first scrawny, small boy asked the girl out when he turned sixteen. She said yes and they were a happy couple ever since. His girlfriend was none other than Astrid Hofferson, the cheerleader captain and one of the most popular girls in school.

Astrid helped Hiccup getting better grades, she even made him join the football team, where he quickly became the best player. And now, he was the captain of the football team and she was the captain of the cheerleader team. A match made in Valhalla! That's what the other students were saying too, they didn't know about Hiccup and Astrid's relationship, since the young couple didn't want it to be official.

Well, Hiccup and Astrid were the best students of this year and the principal himself told the young man to have a final speech at the and of the ceremony. Stoick knew, that his son was nervous since he didn't really like to speak in front of a big audience, but he and Astrid helped Hiccup and now the boy felt ready to say his speech.

The Hoffersons sat down next to Stoick, smiling at him. "Big day, huh?" Asked Sven Hofferson, Astrid's father, a large man - not as large as Stoick though - with blonde hair and blue eyes.

Stoick nodded absently, "true that," he replied and Ingrid, Astrid's mother smiled at him.

"I can't believe that they're a couple for more than two years now," she said happily and Sven nodded in agreement, "your son really lightened up her life," she told him, placing a hand on his shoulder.

Stoick turned to her and smiled, "your daughter did the same for him," he told her and then, the principal walked onto the stage, smiling at the family members of the students.

Mr. Svenson smiled widely at the audience and began his speech, starting by thanking some people for engaging everything and so on. Then he said some thank you's to the other teachers, after that he listed some things that the students of this year archived. Hiccup and Astrid were named and mentioned several times, filling their parents' hearts with pride and happiness.

Speaking of Hiccup and Astrid, the two of them were seated with the other students. They were sitting next to each other, since their family names both started with an H. If their relationship was official, they would be holding hands right now, but since it wasn't they were just sitting there smiling at each other from time to time.

Hiccup was wearing a black tux, while Astrid was wearing a blue dress, which was almost the same color as her eyes.

"And now, the best part, the degrees," said Mr Svenson finally and then, he started reading out names, shaking hands and handing degrees. After a few minutes, "and now, Hiccup Haddock, one of the best students this year," the principal announced happily and Hiccup rose, then walked up to the stage. He and the principal shook hands, and then he got his degree.

Stoick and the Hoffersons cheered, as Hiccup just smiled from the stage, recalling that someone he loved wasn't with them today. His smile fell for a couple of seconds, until he forced it back on again. Then he walked off the stage and sat down again.

Astrid knew what was bothering him and wanted to talk to him, or at least, hold his hand for a few seconds, but she was called up to the stage to get her degree handed too and didn't have the chance to do so.

After all the degrees were handed out, the principal called the captain of the football team up to the stage again, to say his speech. Hiccup rose slowly, and made his way up to the stage. He smiled at the audience in front of him and started talking.

"When I came to this school, I didn't had an easy start," he began slowly, "I was bullied at first at it wasn't fun to go to school at all. A few months after I started fifth grade, I got partnered up with someone for a group project, we became friends and my life at this school got better," he said and his eyes drifted to his girlfriend, the two of them smiled at each other before he continued his speech.

"Well, said project partner made me join the football team in sixth grade, and I had so much fun playing football, I never imagined that. Well, school didn't get easier but with the time, I made good friends. Some were my team mates, some where just people out of classes." He said and smiled a little bit, so far so good. (Lol I nearly wrote fat... xD)

"Now, I have to say that I will really miss this school, it were a few funny, but sometimes hard years and I'm really sure that I can speak for a lot of my friends, that we all will miss this place," he said, "I'm happy to see what we all archived this year, most of us graduated, the football team won the Archipelago Cup again, of course, without our amazing cheerleaders that wouldn't be possible at all," Hiccup said and smiled at the girls, that were always screaming the names of him and the other football players during the matches.

"It's great to see that so many parents and family members are here today, and I hope, that all the people you wanted to be here at your graduation, are here. I, myself, am missing someone today..." He said slowly his voice sounding a little bit sad now.

He knew that this was kind of bringing the mood down, but he had to mention his mother, "I wish that my mother was here today, she was always looking forward to my graduation day," he said smiling softly, "but she isn't with us anymore."

The last sentence was earning him a few pitiful looks, but he just shrugged, "but, I know that she would be proud of me today, so the only thing left to say now is," he said taking a deep breath,

"Congratulations guys, we did it!"

The room erupted in loud cheers as Hiccup finished his speech, shaking the principals hand one last time, he went down the stage, sitting back down next to his girlfriend.

Astrid smiled and whispered, "you did well, babe," Hiccup smiled back and was about to kiss her, until he realized that their relationship was still a secret.

"Thanks, M'Lady," was the only thing he replied.

After a few more minutes, the ceremony was officially over, and the freshly graduated students rose from their seats, walking to their families, so did Hiccup and Astrid. They met with their parents and Stoick instantly hugged his son tightly.

"Your mother would be every bit as proud of you as I am," he told his son proudly, then pulled away, resting his hands on his son's shoulders. He then turned to Astrid, who had just finished hugging her parents. He shook her hand and then he whispered something into her ear. Hiccup raised an eyebrow in confusion, but just shrugged it off when Astrids parents came to congratulate him.

After they were done they started taking some pictures. Hiccup and Astrid standing next to each other, holding their degrees, smiling at the camera. One of them hugging and then, "how about a picture with you two kissing?" Asked Ingrid, pointing a finger at them.

Hiccup and Astrid exchanged an unsure look, "I'm not sure mom," Astrid began slowly, "the other students still don't know about Hiccup and me being a couple," she said, Hiccup looked at her, then back at their parents.

He then shrugged, "well M'Lady, today is the last day of school anyway, we'll probably never see those guys again," the auburn haired boy said and looked down at his girlfriend.

Astrid rolled her eyes, then she grabbed his collar and hauled him into a long and passionate kiss. Their parents smiled at each other and took pictures, while some students just stared at the couple, jaws dropping.

"When the Hel did that happen?!"

"Since when are they a couple?"

"Hiccstrid HAPPENED!"

Was been heard as Hiccup and Astrid pulled away and smiled widely. It felt good to finally do that in front of everyone.

They hadn't had that many chances to kiss while they were in school. They did get away during lunch break sometimes to make out, but they rarely had more than ten minutes. Well, now that the other students knew about their relationship and the graduated, it didn't matter anymore.

It just took a few more seconds until their friends and other students had gathered around them and had started to ask questions. Hiccup and Astrid answered them and after that, they went to a restaurant with their families.

After dinner with their families, Hiccup and Astrid went to a party that was thrown by one of the football players.

They spent part of the party making out, the other part was having fun, dancing and drinking. Well, Astrid was the one to drink, Hiccup didn't drink anything, since he had to look out for his girlfriend, which was very drunk at the end of the night.

After the party, Hiccup led Astrid home. "Did y-ou know~" Astrid mumbled, with a singing voice, leaning on Hiccup's shoulder, while his arm was wrapped around her, helping her to walk. Hiccup had given her his jacket because she was freezing a few minutes ago. "That I really, really love you~" she hummed as she snuggled against him.

Hiccup chuckled and looked down at the blonde, "I know, M'Lady, and I love you too," he said, still chuckling.

They arrived at Astrids house at about 3am, making Hiccup assume that her parents were already asleep. He sighed, "do you have your keys with you?" He asked and Astrid looked up at him, her eyes looking tired and exhausted.

"My wha-? Oooh, keys? Noo-" the blonde said drunkenly, Hiccup sighed again.

"Do I really have to wake up her parents now?" He mumbled under his breath as Astrid yawned against him, shivering. Hiccup groaned a little bit, then he rang the doorbell.

It took a few minutes until Astrids parents opened the door, they both looked like they have been woken up by him and Hiccup smiled weakly, scratching the back of his head with his free hand, "sorry to wake you up Mr and Mrs Hofferson," he said and gestured to Astrid, "but your daughter forgot her keys."

Ingrid and Sven exchanged a glance and smiled at each other, they knew exactly that Hiccup cared about their daughter and that he would always help, and protect her. "No problem, Hiccup," Sven reassured him.

Astrid yawned and snuggled against Hiccup, "c-can you carry me pleaseeee," she begged, "I can't walk anymore. Those shoes are killing me..." The blonde whined.

Hiccup yawned but nodded still, "sure thing M'Lady," with that, he lifted her up, and carried her up to her bedroom, the Hoffersons following behind, smiling widely.

The boy gently placed his girlfriend down on her bed, taking his jacket from her. He kissed her forehead quickly, but as he wanted to pull away, his girlfriend placed her hands on his back and crashed her lips onto his. Hiccup made some kind of squeal, then he melted into the kiss. They pulled away a few seconds later, "sleep well, Astrid," he said and turned away, meeting Astrids overjoyed parents.

He smiled awkwardly, "sorry again, for disturbing your sleep," he apologized but Sven just shrugged it off.

"Do you need a ride home?" He asked but Hiccup denied, shaking his head.

"No thanks, sir, I'll walk," The auburn haired boy said with a smile, putting his jacket back on.

Astrids parents followed him downstairs, then shook his hand. "Thanks, for taking her home safely, Hiccup, we appreciate it," Ingrid told him.

Hiccup yawned again, "not a problem, she's my girlfriend after all, it's kind of my duty to protect her," he replied.

The Hoffersons nodded, then they said their goodbyes.

They watched Hiccup walking away, then they exchanged one final glance, "she is lucky to have him," Ingrid said as Sven nodded.

"Indeed."
