Glasses

Okay idk what this is but lets roll with it.

------------------

She wasn't quite sure if she liked them or not. They made him look even nerdier than he actually was. Sitting here together at his desk, his head leaned over another math problem they had yet to solve.

He was better at math than she was, she had to admit that. Even though he wasn't much better, he still tried to explain most things that she didn't understand to her.

He also was her best friend since kindergarten. The other kids used to pick on him and destroy the stuff he built, but one day she stepped in and the two of them were inseparable since.

Now both 17, Astrid looked up as Hiccup pushed his new glasses back up on his nose, groaning in frustration.

"Ugh, these stupid glasses..." he grumbled, clearly annoyed.

He had those glasses since about two days now, and he was almost constantly complaining about them. Astrid chuckled.

Hiccup shot her a glare, "quit laughing."

That only made her laugh out harder, making Hiccup roll his eyes. The fact that he looked amazingly cute wearing his glasses, didn't make the whole situation better. She had a crush on her best friend, she also had to admit that.

It was hard not to fall for someone you knew so well, especially when they're literally the kindest, most considerate and cutest person you have ever met. She didn't admit it to Hiccup yet, but she might do just that soon.

She watched as Hiccup leaned back over his notebook, his glasses sliding back down. He groaned again, grabbed them and put them onto the table, "I hate being half blind, I hate these stupid glasses" He said, voice muffled since he was hiding his face in this hands.

The blonde laughed out loud, grabbed the glasses in one hand and used her other free hand to peel Hiccup's hands off his face, briefly looking at the veins running through his skin, some of them lightly poking out, shining blue in the light of the room. She held one of his hands in hers while his other dropped down to his lap, then she slowly put the glasses back on his head, leaning forward to peck a kiss to his cheek.

When she pulled back the two of them smiled at each other, his thumb slowly caressing the back of her hand. He sighed, "I look ridiculous... Like a big nerd."

Astrid only slightly chuckled and took his other hand in hers, "I liked them."

And for the first time Hiccup had the glasses, he actually felt okay with wearing them.

A year later

She was confused. Normally when he picks her up in his car, he'd be wearing his glasses, because he had to. If he got caught by the police driving without them he'd loose his license.

Astrid got in the car and accepted the good morning kiss her boyfriend gave her. Yep, boyfriend. Astrid and Hiccup admitted their feelings for each other about eight months ago, and they've been openly dating ever since.

They pulled away and smiled at each other, Hiccup's eyes shining with affection and love for her. "Hey," he said in a low voice, leaning back in to kiss her again.

His girlfriend chuckled and smiled into the kiss, then pulled back, "where are your glasses?"

Hiccup pulled back completely, "ah, so your boyfriend doesn't even get a good morning now, does he? Glasses seem to be more important."

Astrid laughed, "seriously, where are they? What if the police pulls you over?" She asked, putting on her seatbelt as Hiccup started driving to school. "Did you lose them?"

"What? No, they're at home," he replied, not taking his eyes off the road. He was a very good driver, even though he only had his license for about 6 months now. Astrid felt incredibly safe driving with him.

"So, why aren't you wearing them?"

He was the one to chuckle this time, "I upgraded."

Astrid raised a blonde eyebrow, "...upgraded?"

"Contact lenses!" He concluded, smiling, "I finally managed to get them in now, took me forever to learn that, but it works almost flawlessly now."

When his girlfriend didn't say anything, he turned his head to her briefly, "what?"

She just shook her head lightly, "I don't know, I got kind of used to the glasses, to be honest."

"Pfff, don't worry, you'll still see me wear them when you sleep over at my place."

"I'll hold you to that!"

It was a Friday night five weeks later, Astrid was at Hiccup's place for a sleepover as the two of them fell into bed together after a long day. Astrid was just about to get lost in their kiss as Hiccup pulled back, she tried to push him back down, but he just chuckled and got up. "Where are you going?" She whined, not receiving and answer as he disappeared.

He came back a minute later, wearing his glasses. Astrid looked at him incredulously, "really?" She asked as her boyfriend crawled back into bed with her, leaning above her, weight braced on his arms.

Humming his answer, Hiccup placed a few kisses on her cheek and jaw, making Astrid laugh as his light stubble started tickling her, she pushed him back, "why do you wear them now?"

He raised an eyebrow, "I thought you missed them?"

"Yeah, but they're kinda annoying when we kiss..."

Laughing, Hiccup got up on his knees and  placed his hands on his hips, "can't make up your mind, can you?" He said mockingly.

She rolled her eyes and sat up too, leaning forward to take his glasses off, placing them on the nightstand next to his bed, "you can wear them when we're done here," smirking, she wrapped his arms around his neck, kissed him and pulled him back down with her.

He didn't complain.

4 years later

If someone told her she'd get married to the guy she used to call her best friend a few years ago, she would've called them mad.

But here she was, getting ready for her wedding with the guy she fell in love with and who's been her boyfriend for almost 5 years.

She was so happy the day he asked her to be his wife.

As she was led to the Altar by her father, wearing a white dress with gold detail and a pink flower crown on her head she was feeling like she was dreaming.

They decided to have a traditional Viking wedding, because they both come from ancient Viking families (like 99% of the people on Berk did).

As she saw him standing there, she forgot how to breathe for a second. There he was, brown pants, a white shirt with gold details - just like her dress - and a green flower crown on his head. His eyes lit up when he saw her for the first time, and Astrid could swear she saw a small tear slide down his cheek, which he quickly wiped away.

He wasn't wearing his glasses.

It wasn't two years later when Astrid awoke in the middle of the night, feeling some slight pain and instantly knowing what happened. She sat up, shaking and switched on the small lamp standing on her nightstand. The even breathing of her husband calmed her a little, but then she felt that her pants were completely wet. She panicked.

Astrid reached to her side and tried to wake him up, "Hiccup!" He didn't wake. She tried again, "HICCUP!"

He then slowly opened his eyes, it took him a few seconds until his eyes focused on her, "What, what's wrong?"

Swallowing hard, Astrid put her hand on his arm, "the water broke."

Her husband was up in an instant, frantically searching for his clothes and running downstairs to get her a jacket. He came back into their bedroom two minutes later, wearing carrying her jacket, some new pants and shoes. "Are you in any pain?" He asked her, helping her put on the pants.

She groaned, as she felt something, "she really wants out now." Hiccup looked up at her, worry in his eyes, he then reached out to help her put on her shoes and jacket.

She then gasped in surprise as he scooped her up in his arms and carried her bridal style downstairs to their car, opening the passenger door with some difficulty. He sat her down inside the car and was just about to get in himself, when he realized something, "Oh for Thor's sake," he cursed and then ran back inside the house.

He came back only a few seconds later, wearing his glasses.

They drove to the hospital as fast as possible, Hiccup reassuring her - and himself - that everything will be fine.

Astrid almost crushed his hand while giving birth, but after three long hours of pain their first child was born. A healthy girl with a little bit of red hair on her tiny head, which they named Zephyr.

Laying on a bed were a happy, exhausting looking mother, who was cradling her new baby in her arms and next to them was laying the father, still wearing his glasses since he was too exhausted to take them off, his arm protectively around his wife and his hand holding his daughters. It was the first picture they had of their little family.

It wasn't until a few days later when Hiccup grumbled that the first picture of their family was with him wearing his glasses, but Astrid only laughed and kissed him lovingly, Zephyr sleeping safely in his arms.

HOW DID THIS TURN INTO A 1600 WORD ONE-SHOT WTF LOOOL

THIS is so weird I'm so sorry I don't even know what went on in my mind when I started writing this. I only kinda like the idea of Hiccup wearing glasses, even though the doesn't want or like them so he always wears contact lenses xD
