Brother

It was a cold, berkien night, an eighteen-year-old Hiccup Haddock was driving home, his little sister sitting next to him, safely in her child car seat, she's snoring slightly and Hiccup couldn't help but smile. She was his everything, his sisters name is Luisa Haddock, she just turned seven and Hiccup had been picking her up from one of her friends houses, where she was staying after school. Hiccup's parents are the CEOs of a big company that's technically known all around the world, which means that they didn't really have time for their children. Hiccup was used to it and he made it to his responsibility that his sister isn't growing up all alone. He spent so much time home alone, or with one of his father's close friends Gobber, that he kind of missed his whole childhood with his parents. Not that he did care anymore, the past is in the past and he's determined to be a good brother to his little sister.

Hiccup stopped at an intersection, seeing that the traffic light was red, he put the car to a halt. He glanced over to his sister again which was now moving a little bit in her seat, 'seems like she's having a dream,' he thought and smiled. Hiccup was currently in his last year of High School and almost half of the year is over. The auburn haired male was a good student and had a very real chance to get a scholarship from his favorite college since he was part of the school's soccer team, where he was technically the best player.

Hiccup's mind drifted to his friends, Snotlout, Fishlegs, Astrid, Ruffnut and Tuffnut. They were an inseparable team since they were ten years old and they would be going to the same college after they graduated, which was just great since it would be much easier with some good friends at your side. As the traffic light turned green, Hiccup started to drive slowly, careful not to crash the car since the street was full of ice during the cold months in Berk. Hiccup was always driving carefully since if he crashed the car and someone, his friends or sister, would get hurt, or even worse, killed, during a crash, he'd feel guilty. But who would not? The drive was quiet until Hiccups phone started to ring, Hiccup took it and glanced at the screen, seeing that his best friend, Astrid Hofferson, was calling him.

He accepted the call, "hey Astrid," he greeted.

"Hiccup, can you come over? I need your help!" Astrid exclaimed and Hiccup took a glance at his watch. It was almost 8 pm and he still had to make dinner for his sister since his parents were on some kind of business trip for two weeks.

He sighed, "when exactly," he said, "I need to take care of my sister, she still hasn't eaten, ya know," he told her and Astrid groaned in frustration.

"She can come too, my parents aren't home tonight and I was going to order pizza anyway," Astrid said, "I really need your help, please!" She pleaded and Hiccup chuckled.

"Alright, alright, I'll be there in about 15 minutes," he told her and Astrid sighed in relief..

"Thank you and drive carefully, the streets are full of ice," the girl reminded him.

"I noticed, see you in a few minutes."

"Yep, see ya," with that they hung up.

Hiccup put his phone away and took a left turn, driving to Astrid's place. Hiccup felt movement next to him and he took a glance to the right, seeing his sister looking at him with a smile om her face, "was that your girlfriend?" She asked him and Hiccup blushed.

Man, he really wished that Astrid was his girlfriend. She was beautiful, smart, athletic, cool and... well she was just perfect. But Hiccup assumed that she wasn't into guys like him. Sure, he was athletic too, but he wasn't buff like the other guys in his team. Which kind of was an advantage since he could easily sprint towards the goal to score. Well, let's just say Hiccup didn't think that Astrid had any interest in him. "N-no, she's not my girlfriend Luisa," he said and Luisa just rose an eyebrow.

"You're blushing Hicc," she said using his nickname, "you love her~" she teased him in a singing voice, making Hiccup blush even more.

"If you say that in front of her I'll tickle you when we're back home," he threatened playfully and his sister snickered, "you think I won't do that?" He asked her and she nodded while laughing. "Pf, there you go, laughing at your big brother," he said and pouted.

Luisa stopped laughing, "I'm hungry," she whined switching the topic

"You'll get some food soon, we're going to order pizza with Astrid," Hiccup told his sister and she nodded, then turned her head to look out of the window.

"What do you think mommy and daddy are doing?" She asked while staring out of the window, watching the lights fly past them.

Hiccup sighed, he knew his sister missed her parents and so did he. As much as he loved Luisa he still wanted to go out with his friends, go partying, have sleepovers and all that stuff people his age do. Most of his friends were eighteen already, well everyone except Astrid, she would turn eighteen next Saturday. Hiccup was looking forward to that day, they'd meet up Friday night and celebrate through the night. He already bought her a gift card, a bracelet and two tickets for their favorite theme park along with a room in a hotel since they would spend a whole weekend in this theme park. Yep, only them, together in one hotel room, with probably only one bed. Hiccup knew that he might have to sleep on the ground but he didn't care, he only wanted to make Astrid the best gifts ever to make her an awesome birthday.

"I'm sure they are working as hard as they can so they can home as soon as possible," he told her and smiled at her, trying to make her feel better. Luisa smiled back at him and they continued their journey in a comfortable silence. After ten minutes, Hiccup could hear light snoring next to him and he assumed that his sister had fallen asleep again. He arrived at Astrids house only a few moments later, Hiccup parked the car and exited it, shivering once the cold air hit his face, he made his way to the passenger's side and opened the door. Hiccup unbuckled the seatbelt from his sister and lifted her up, carrying her to Astrids front door.

While carrying her, Luisa snuggled close to Hiccups chest, absorbing the warmth. Hiccup rang the doorbell and a few moments later a beautiful, blonde girl opened the door. Astrid was wearing a red sweater and white sweat pants, looking like she was having a comfortable evening on her sofa. While Hiccup was wearing black jeans, a white T-Shirt, a black sweat jacket and a black leather jacket. Astrid smiled at him, "hey," she greeted and Hiccup could swear he saw a light blush on her cheeks.

"Hey," the auburn haired boy greeted back and Astrid led him inside the living room.

She gestured to the sofa, noticing that his little sister was asleep in her brother's arms. Hiccup smiled and placed Luisa gently down on the soft sofa. He put his hands in his pockets and looked down at her, "your parents are on a business trip again?" Astrid asked and Hiccup nodded, not moving his eyes from his sister. "Sorry if I'm bothering you with this, I guess you have better things to do, right?" She said and Hiccup turned to her, seeing guilt in her eyes.

"Actually no," he replied, "and you're not bothering me, I like helping my friends, especially you," he told her and they smiled at each other for a couple of seconds. "So what do you need help with?"

Astrid blushed, "Viking History," she admitted and Hiccup laughed a little bit, "what? I don't come from a family where you are learning Viking History once you're born!" She exclaimed and punched Hiccups shoulder, making him wince.

She was talking about the fact that the Haddocks where taught Viking History from the moment they are born, it's some kind of family tradition since the Haddocks in earlier centuries were the chiefs of Berk and it was expected that they learn Viking History as soon as they start thinking.

The auburn haired boy chuckled, "that may be the only advantage of being a Haddock," he admitted, "well, what exactly do you need help with? Chiefing? Hunting methods? Or maybe Funerals?"

"Yep! Funerals, I don't get the whole process," she admitted and took a seat on the sofa, Hiccup did the same, careful not to disturb his sisters sleep. "So I get the whole preparation thing for the funeral but I don't get the procedure," the blonde girl said and Hiccup looked at the papers that were shattered on the small table in front of the sofa.

He then took a pen and a sheet of paper and started to sketch the procedure of a traditional Viking funeral. Astrid listened carefully as he explained everything and after about twenty minutes he was done. "Oh," Astrid exclaimed and you could see a light bulb hovering above her head, "now I get it," she turned to him and smiled, the auburn haired boy smiled back, Astrid then leaned forward and pressed a quick kiss on his cheek. She'd done that a few times before so Hiccup wasn't that shocked.

There was a light gasp next to them, followed by an excited squeal, they turned their heads to the right, seeing Luisa fully awake, "I knew she was your girlfriend!" She exclaimed and Hiccup instantly face palmed.

"Great..."

READ FOR AN ALTERNATE ENDING LOL

That's it, I hope you like it.
Again, I have so many things to say lmao.

1. Sorry for not publishing that many chapters but takes quite a while to write them, even more if they are over 1500 words long lmao.
I don't like when one shots are only about 800 words or so that's why it's taking me so long to write them, but when I have a good idea, it's so easy to write 1500+ words.

2. I actually had something different in my mind. This One-Shot was actually named, "All My Fault" since I wanted to kill Luisa in a car accident. They should have had a green light at that intersection and because of the icy road a heavy truck from the different direction wasn't able to break anymore and they crashed. Hiccup blames himself for everything and falls into depression, he visited his sisters grave every week and no one knows about his sisters death. The only thing his friends know is that he was in a car accident.
So here have the scene after the crash:

Hiccup stumbled out of his car, which now wasn't more than a wreckage anymore. He held his middle since it was bleeding there for some reason. Hiccup's vision blurred for a few seconds until the pain hit him like a pile of rocks. He had several scratches across his whole body, his leather jacket was ripped and a piece of metal stuck out of his stomach.Hiccup groaned and tried to remove the metal, he struggled for a while until he finally managed to pull it out, he covered the wound with his right hand, trying to stop the bleeding, it only helped a little bit. Hiccup felt a warm substance on his forehead and touched it with his left hand. He even had a light cut on his forehead and his vision blurred again because of the blood loss. Hiccup stumbled and almost fell, he tried to gain his balance and then it hit him, "LUISA!" He cried out and ran to the passengers side, wrestling the door open, he removed the seatbelt from his sisters body. Luisas was barely breathing and Hiccup felt his vision get blurry again, but not because he was slowly losing consciousness, it was because his eyes were filling with tears. He carried his sister and sat down on the ground, Luisa in his lap. Hiccup fiddled for his phone and dialed 911. After a short conversation he hung up again.

"Come on, Luisa," he pleaded, "stay with me, please!"

Luisas eyes opened slowly, "Hicc?"

Hiccup smiled weakly, tears forming in his eyes, "yes, it's me," he wanted to say that everything will be fine, but he couldn't since he wasn't too sure if he was able to keep his promise.

"C-can you tell m-mom and d-dad that I l-love them?" She asked, her voice barely above a whisper. Hiccup nodded and hugged her.

"Please Luisa, stay with me, you can tell them yourself," he pleaded and Luisa smiled weakly.

"I-if I can't, please tell them," she said and Hiccup nodded again, "th-thank you for always being there Hicc, I-I love you s-so much," Luisa whispered and he eyelids started to fall slowly.

"I love you too, Luisa, I love you so much," Hiccup said and started crying, Hiccup hugged his sister, "please fight," he pleaded but Luisa didn't respond and then Hiccup realized that she was gone, and she will never be back again.....

I seriously wanted to write this first but I couldn't bring myself to cause Hiccup so much pain (and myself,) I kind of like the thought of Hiccup being a big brother who is always there for his siblings. Maybe I'll write a part two of this One-Shot xDD

Anyway, see y'all. :'))
