Cody's Pov:

Two days ago

The sound of Auden in his wolf form whining in pain broke my heart but it also made me jealous. I mean at least he was able to do something. What could I do right now?

Go back in time and risk all our safety? Taste Auden's energy in an effort to lessen his pain by making him pass out.

I ran my fingers through Auden's neck fur as I whispered, willing the words to be true, "You'll be alright."

I knew that Roger would take the deal, he couldn't leave Auden in pain, right?

"No. You can't just leave you're our mate", Roger spat out the fact before adding, "And we need answers now"

"What?" Auden and I shouted in shock as we looked at the two not that far from us.

The Fae laughed dryly, "You are asking the wrong one for answers, Snowflake"

Roger hissed and opened his mouth wider, fangs extending, sharp and deadly. He lowered his head to the Fae's neck but he didn't bite him because the Fae spoke again.

"Go ahead and drink my poisoned blood. I don't think that will help your situation" The Fae glanced over at me and Auden, "Or you can let me go and we all go back licking our wounds"

My hand curled in Auden's fur as I yelled, "That's not good enough. You don't get to hurt me and my mates and just leave!"

"I didn't hurt you, beauty. And for the record, your beast attacked first. I was well within my right to defend myself", The Fae explained as Roger moved away from his neck while growling.

Looking down at Auden, I tried to think of what we could have done differently. I turn back time and let them know to avoid the blade, but who knows what other dangerous thing this Fae has in his satchel.

Turning back time over and over like that will definitely alert the people who are after June and me. I can't do that, or rather I shouldn't do that, but I want to.

"Fine, it's a deal. But this isn't over, you glittery bastard", I curled my lip as I glared at him.

The Fae looked up at Roger with an arched brow, waiting. Roger looked at me then Auden and he growled again.

"Are you not going to address the whole mate thing?", Roger asked as he lowered the blade to the Fae's throat.

"No." He answered simply.

"Why not?" Roger hissed as he lowered the blade further to the Fae's chest, over his heart.

"Because I don't know if it's true", The Fae sighed after he spoke.

Roger got off of the Fae and I tossed the satchel at them. My other hand scratched behind Auden's ear, trying to soothe him while he was in pain.

Roger opened the satchel, "Only take out the antidote"

The Fae reached inside pulling out a small vial and tossing it over his shoulder at me, "Fae don't break deals and they don't lie, my kind is physically incapable of such things. Goodbye for now Snowflake, Beauty and Beast"

The Fae snatched his satchel from Roger and then disappeared into thin air as if he was never there, to begin with. I bit the cork off the vial and cradled Auden's large wolf head in my lap so that his mouth was facing me.

Slowly I poured the glittering gold liquid into his mouth, watching him swallow it. I trailed my eyes down to the blood still seeping into his beautiful brown fur.

Before I could panic Roger spoke, "It's working, I can feel it through the bond"

My entire body sagged in relief, I lowered my head down peppering the side of his muzzle with kisses, "See I told you everything would be alright. You'll be singing again in no time, my nightingale"

"Can you shift back?" Roger asked while he walked over to us and Auden shook his head slowly.

"I'll do a sweep of the place, hopefully, the Fae missed something because we interrupted him", Roger said before he started to run around the entire building, pausing every now and again to look around.

"Are you sure that he is also one of our mates?" I called out as I continued to stoke Auden's fur.

"Positive. I felt two sensations the second our skin touched. It was like a fog rolling against my skin and prickling, almost like when your hand is falling asleep and you shake it", Roger yelled down from the second floor.

I moved my hand down to where Auden was bleeding to see if the cut was healed over and breathed a sigh of relief as I found it was. Moving my hand down I gave his belly a few rubs, "Promise me you'll be more careful, nightingale. I hate seeing you hurt"

Auden lifted his head and licked the whole side of my face making me laugh. His tail wagged before he stood on his four paws and walked out into the rain.

I watched as the blood started to trail off his fur. Roger stood next to me suddenly making me jump, he chuckled and kissed my cheek, "Sorry Precious. The bad news is there is nothing else here"

"At least we know that there is more than one fae involved in this, and he took the blood for some reason", I said before I pushed up on the balls of my feet to plant a kiss on Roger's cheek.

"Maybe to sell it. I can look into a few places that sell blood for vampires", Roger said with a wicked grin and a glint in his eyes.

The sound of bones breaking and skin stretching made us look over at Auden, who now stood naked with a bright smile on his face as the rain finally started to lighten up, "So my idea worked after all. Nice."

"Yes, it did. Good boy", Roger said as he moved to Auden's side and ruffled his wet hair.

"Let's get back, who knows what time it is right now", I said as I rushed out of the abandoned building for what I hoped was, the last time.

We all piled into the car and Roger drove us back to his place. Gannon was waiting for us at the entrance to the house from the garage.

"I made breakfast, well brunch since it's almost noon" he announced as we all got out of the car, still wet from being in the rain earlier, Gannon snapped his fingers and all the water on us disappeared.

"Thank you I am starving", Auden said as he walked up to Gannon, giving him a kiss before rushing to where the food was.

The three of us looked at each other for a moment, then Gannon moved out the doorway, "You can tell me everything while you eat, come on"

Gannon led the way into the dining room where there were a bunch of pancakes, waffles, pork bacon, turkey bacon, sausages, omelets, toast, cut fresh fruit and orange juice, coffee, and tea. Auden already had a plate stacked with a bit of everything while also being halfway through the plate.

"I cook when I'm anxious", Gannon confessed as a way of explanation, "I also didn't know what you all preferred so I went very basic"

We all sat, filled our plates, and started to eat. I grabbed a few pancakes, the crispiest pieces of pork bacon, an omelet, and a glass of orange juice. Roger grabbed a cup of coffee and a bowl of cut-up fruit.

Auden, Roger, and I took turns recounting everything that happened as well as the somewhat of a plan we have now.

"I'm going with you Roger. My blood might throw someone off their game if there will be vampires involved", Gannon spoke with no room for argument.

The next day came, which left me, Auden, and a still-sleeping Nia in Roger's house while Gannon and Roger left to find out more information. It took about an hour before Auden couldn't be in the house anymore and left for a run.

Another two hours passed before I felt like I was going out of my mind, so I grabbed my phone and called June.

"Hey June", I said casually but before I could say another word she spoke.

"You fucker. Where the hell have you been? Why haven't you checked in with me? I've been worried sick!" She yelled.

"I'm so sorry, June. I know I made you worry since I didn't check in with you. A lot of stuff happened recently which is why I forgot to check in. I'll set an alarm on my phone from now on reminding me to check in with you at least once a day. Again I am so sorry", I told her as I stood up and started to pace the length of the living room where I was sitting.

"Alright. I'm glad you're ok. I was freaking out, Cody. I literally just finished making a scanner to see if I could track your energy signature, I thought you were taken", She sighed heavily.

"Would you mind coming over? I want to explain things in person", I told her.

"Sure, send me the address", She agreed, I could hear the smile in her voice.
