💛 Chapter 14: Not A Date 💛
~~~~~~~~~Your POV~~~~~~~~~
The next day had arrived, and I was looking through my closet for a nice outfit. I had agreed to meet my old friend Xavier to catch up on life since we hadn't seen each other in a while.
Mabel, of course, kept insisting that it was a date, but I've learned to just ignore all her comments. She still stayed to help me pick an outfit.
On the other hand, Bill had been a lot more.. quiet, in a way. He still made his usual remarks, he still invaded my privacy by reading my thoughts, but he was a lot more serious since yesterday. I couldn't tell if he was angry, or just distracted, but it sort of.. bothered me.
I had placed a few outfits on the bed, standing back to see them all at once.
"So which one of these do you like best?"
"They're all too casual!" She pouted at the sight.
I rolled my eyes. "There's no reason for it to not be casual, Glitter."
She looked at all the outfits, then pointed at at the one with the white blouse, light ripped jeans, and a denim jacket. I hadn't used that shirt in a while, but it was one of my favorites. Taking the outfit in my arms, I went to the bathroom, quickly changing and going back to my room. "What do you think?"
Mabel clapped with a smile. "You look beautiful!!"
"Thanks." I went back to my closet, taking some white converse and putting them on before tying my hair in a braid (unless your hair's too short for that). "I just hope things don't get too awkward, Xavier and I were never that close to begin with. I mainly just knew him because he was really good friends with one of my best friends at the time."
"I'm sure things will turn out alright!"
I then looked over to Bill, who sat on the wooden polls that connected the ceiling, staring out the window with an expression that I couldn't read.
Mabel tilted her head a bit before looking up. "What, did you see a fairy up there?!"
"Uh, no, I just got lost in thought."
"Aww.. Well, now I really wanna find another fairy! Mabel away!!!" With that, she ran out, making me snicker at the sight.
Once I knew she was far enough, I closed the door, looking up. "Bill?"
He looked down at me before jumping to the floor. "What's up, kid?"
"Is something wrong? You've been oddly quiet today."
"Aww, are you worried about me~?" He cooed with a smile while leaning over.
I felt my cheeks heat up a little, giving a small glare. "N-no, it was just weird, you're normally so talkative."
He simply gave a shrug. "I've just been thinking, nothing special."
"If you say so."
He shrunk to be mini again, sitting on my shoulder. "Now let's go, you have a date."
"It's not a date."
"Sure. Now go!"
With a sigh, I walked out of the house and to the town, though something kept nagging me. As I walked through the woods, I kept glancing at the tint Bill on my shoulder.
"You know, if you have a question, you can ask." He spoke.
"Well, I just wanted to ask what you were thinking about earlier. You seemed pretty serious."
He didn't answer right away. If anything, I think this is the longest he took to answer anything, almost as if he didn't want to.
"... sorry, you don't have to answer if it's..-"
"My first love."
My eyes widened a little; for some reason, that seemed to take me off guard. First love? He had been in love before?
"I have, yes. Back in your 1346 a.c."
"That's... a very long time ago."
"For you." He lied down, his head against my neck. "But for me, it feels like... maybe just a hundred years?"
"That's still a lot."
"Again, for you."
That did bring another question to mind though. "Then.. who was your first love?"
"Her name was Isabella Bennett, she was the daughter of a blacksmith, quite poor."
"Was she pretty?"
"Like a goddess."
"Smart?"
"One of the very few non-rich women who knew how to read and write, she had a love for astronomy. But for that time, that would've made her a witch and she would've been killed for it, so she kept that love a secret."
"How'd you two meet?"
"I made myself the facade of a wealthy noble, but she liked me because of how much I knew about the world. She would always ask me all sorts of questions, and it was adorable how joyful she got whenever I answered."
When I looked over, I noticed his expression was saddened, his eyes distant and lost in thought.
Did he really care about this woman that much..?
"If you loved her so much, what happened..?"
"... she learned what I was, and formed a mob to burn me at the stake.. I can't die, so that obviously failed, but.."
"... I... I'm really sorry about that.."
"Sorry for what? You have nothing to do with it. Besides, I already got my revenge by causing a small Black Plague around."
"Wait, you caused the Black Plague?!"
"Guilty as charged."
"You could've killed the entire human race!"
"That was the original plan." He sat up, stretching his arms. "But I thought I could come back for some more fun later on."
I let out a sigh. "You're hopeless."
"Thank you!"
I rolled my eyes, though I couldn't help the chuckle that escaped my lips at his cheerfulness. He was clearly not a good person, but I couldn't say he was a bad one either.
Being completely honest? It was quite fun to have him around for company.
"Aww, (f/g)!"
"Stop reading my mind!"
Thanks for reading!!! 'Till next time!!!
❤️❤️❤️
