Rule 5: Don't Take Drinks From Strangers

I know you've probably already heard about this from your parents, books and other sources. While I don't have firsthand experience, this rule, is important. When you're going to a party don't go alone. Make sure you have a buddy at least and maybe a designated driver. Whatever you do, don't take a drink from a stranger- actually scratch that- don't take a drink from anyone unless you saw them pour it and don't let it out of your sight. Life isn't a wattpad book, you aren't always going to be saved. Save yourself.

I drive up to the house of the address that Rowan texted me. It's literally out in the middle of nowhere, open space surrounds me and the nearest house is probably a mile away. But it's clear that the party is going on here. Parked cars are scattered all over and there's groups of people hanging out between the cars, doing whatever they feel like.

I step out of the car and a breeze hits the back of my legs. I shiver and lock my car. I walk up along the cars and wonder how Rowan found this party, we've never been here before. The house is clearly well taken care of, it shines, even without any sunlight hitting it. I walk up the white marble stairs where teenagers are making out, smoking and drinking.

Who the fuck, has enough money for marble stairs?

As I walk up the last stair a guy glances up at me from the top step. His eyes go from my feet, up my body and he meets my eyes. He gives me a slight nod and I return one. I walk past him as he releases some smoke.

I walk into the party, the music that I could hear from the outside, is blaring inside.

What a way to lose your hearing.

The couches and tables have been moved to the sides of the room to allow more space to dance. A jumble of people dance in the center, their bodies glisten from sweat and they look like they're having the time of their life. The people on the couches are nearly having sex and I see a flow of people going in and out of a room. They go in the room empty handed and come out with red solo cups.

I walk around the mess of bodies, I haven't had any liquor so I'm not ready to have other sweaty bodies on mine. I walk out of the grand living room and into a smaller but still big room. The kitchen is blinding, white covers everything. There is white cabinets, white counters and white tile floors. The only thing I can tell is not white is the stove.

Sitting on the counter there are multiple ice chests filled with vodka, tequila, wine coolers, liquor, rum and whiskey. On the floor under them is a keg and a guy is sitting on the counter, drink in hand and swinging his feet.

"What would you like?" He asks me as my eyes rake over all of the drinks in front of me.

"Jack and Coke, please."

He immediately grabs a red solo cup and reaches over the ice chests to grab the Jack, he pours the auburn liquid into the cup. He hands it to me, "The coke is in the fridge, help yourself."

I lift my drink in thanks and move over to the, of course, white fridge and open it. It's filled with sodas and I grab the first coke I see. I pop it open and pour it into my cup. After mixing it I walk back into the main room. It's time to find Rowan now.

Knowing Rowan she is probably dead center in the middle of all that sweating and grinding going on in the living room. She can't stay away from dancing people, it doesn't even matter if they're bad dancers, she will dance all night until the sun comes up. I hope she doesn't want to do that tonight.

I scan the writhing mess of bodies, looking for her short, choppy black hair. But it's no use, the lighting in here sucks and there is too much movement to identify my best friend. I know if she needs me, she'll text me.

I walk around the outside of the dance floor and when I find a near empty couch I sit on it. The girl on the other side of the couch is wearing a white, bodycon dress and it looks a size to small. When I sit down we glance at each other and she scoffs before standing up and walking away.

Thank you very much.

I swing my feet up onto the couch and watch. I watch the dancing, I watch the people coming through the front door and the people flowing through the kitchen. What I've learned from parties is that you never know what's going to happen, watching people is one of the funniest things. Especially drunk people, it's fun to watch them humiliate themselves while they're drunk, who needs reality TV?

I've finished my Jack and Coke, I stare down into my cup, willing it to refill itself. Nothing happens and I curse under my breath. If I move from this couch someone will steal it and if I move it's more likely I'll find my way to the dance floor. I don't feel like getting stepped on tonight.

I stay on the couch, kicked back and relaxed. I honestly can say I'm having fun, especially because I can tell that a cat fight is about to begin. I watch as a girl pushes a boy away from her, clearly pissed off and she marches towards another girl who holds a solo cup in her hand. The first girl is shouting at the other girl and her hands fly around, non-stop. I chuckle as the second one lifts her drink and pours it on the girl. The first girl stands still, shocked and then she-

"I didn't take you as the type as the one to sit back and watch the party happen," An obnoxiously happy voice says with a slight accent that I can barely hear over the music. I turn even though I know that I won't like what I see.

Oh fuck no.
