Rule 3: Don't Procrastinate

I know, I know. This is a nearly impossible rule, but it's important that you try to not procrastinate. Just imagine how much time you could save if you didn't procrastinate. I would save hours, probably days if I didn't procrastinate. One thing that works for me is to just tell myself what I already know; once my homework is done I can mess around and do what I want without the stress. Usually I am motivated enough to finish without procrastinating. But when I'm not it's bad, I waste so much time. So please, try to be productive, it'll help in the long run.

I managed to get through History without scratching the new kid's eyes out, thanks to the seating chart. We were on separate sides off the room and I slept through the class, it's not like they tell us anything important on the first day anyway. The first day is always a waste of fucking time.

I take my keys out of the ignition and push my door open. I step out of my car bringing my backpack from the passenger seat. I slam the driver's door closed and walk up to the front door. I grab my key and unlock it.

I step onto hardwood floor, I step on the back of my vans to take them off and close the door behind me. I stand still for a moment and access the quietness. Everything is completely silent and I assume my mom is at work, like she always is.

My mom works hard, all the freaking time. She works double shifts all the time just so we can live in a nice house and buy groceries. I also work to help out but my mom does the brunt of it all. My mom is the only person I've ever been able to depend on.

My dad left before I was even born, scared of being a father, I guess. He should've thought about that before fucking my mom without a condom. You would think that's all I would need to swear off men for life, but no my 15 year old self decided to trust someone, other than my mom, with my heart. What a freaking delusional 15 year old I was.

My feet pad softly on the floor and I walk into the kitchen to see a yellow sticky note on the refrigerator. In my moms handwriting it says "Working double shift again, won't be home until tomorrow morning. There's pizza in the fridge, hope your first day was awesome!"

I sigh, taking the sticky note off of the fridge and crumpling it up. I open the fridge to see the pizza, I open it and take a piece. I take a bite of the cold pizza and walk to the hall. The hall leads down with three doors, my room, my moms room and the bathroom we share.

I step into my room and drop my backpack on the floor. A big, dark beige carpet covers most of the hardwood floor, my bed sits in the corner next to the window. On my bed there is an army green comforter and next to the bed a desk with a black lamp on it. Records, posters, and pictures cover the wall my bed is next to. My favorite part of my room is the walk in closet on the opposite side of the room. A floor length mirror sits next to the door and that pretty much completes my room.

I plop down on my bed right as my phone begins to ring. I pick it up to see my grandmother's contact on it.

My grandmother is one of my favorite people. She is the cheeriest person I have ever met and she loves me. What's not to love? She is a TV sensation and is well off. She offers to help my mom out with the money all the time, but my mom never lets her. She's always saying how she has to be responsible for her family and make ends meet herself.

Usually when she's calling it's to ask my mom and I to join her for dinner at her house, more like mansion. I could never pass up a dinner at my grandmothers house, gnocchi dinner all the time. Yes ma'am.

"Hello?" I lay back on my pillows and pull the phone up to my ear.

"Hello, Tea," my grandmother's sweet honey voice greets me with her favorite nickname for me.

"Hi, grandma. How are you?"

"I'm doing just fine, how was your first day?" She asks me and I shrug my shoulders.

"It was alright. How was your day?"

"Absolutely boring your grandfather wouldn't let me sign up for skiing lessons for when we take a vacation to the mountains next year." She huffs through the phone and I smile at her words. That is definitely my grandma.

"Anyways I was wondering if you wanted to come over for dinner? I already called your mom and she told me she has another shift so it's up to you. I though we could talk about your gap year while you're over." She pauses for my response.

"Of course. I'll be there at 5, okay?"

"Alright, Tea. See you soon, I love you, darling."

"Bye, I love you."

I hang up the phone and glance at my backpack, which holds a little bit of homework. I could finish it in half an hour if I wanted to. I have plenty of time to do it and get ready. Should I do it or should I get ready for dinner? I mean it's not a lot I'll just do it when I get back. It's settled, time to get ready.

I shower and blow dry my hair. I decide on a black turtleneck underneath a red corduroy overall dress with my Doc Martens. Yes, those were a birthday present from my grandma. I grab my phone to see Rowan has texted me.

greeneyedmonster: hey babe, you down for a party tn?

sent: got a date with my gma ;)

greeneyedmonster: oo have fun, mb you cud come after

sent: aight tell me the address, ill see how im feeling after

greeneyedmonster: alright

She proceeds to text me the address of the house party. I put my phone in the back pocket of the corduroy dress. I grab lip gloss and swipe it on my lips. I walk out of my room into the hallway and walk to the front, I grab my keys out of the small bowl and lock the door behind me. The sun beams at me and there's a rainbow after the rain from earlier. I long to drive to find the pot of gold. But I have more important matters to attend to, like gnocchi for dinner.
