Chapter Four:
Regrettably, Jansen pulled away. When Faith went back in, the Beta pushed her down, softly sitting on her hips and holding her mate's hands above her head. Jansen stared down, feeling her mate trying to get up.
"Faith?" She called out, holding her wolf back from mating and marking her. She's not ready. She doesn't even like wolves. Not now. We have to get her consent. "Baby?"
Faith just growled, her eyes getting a brighter color.
She's like a newly shifted pup, Jansen laughed in her head. "Calm down, Faith." When her wolf? mate wouldn't calm down, she quickly growled, making her mate freeze. Almost like a wolf, she gained control over the second thoughts in her head.
"Wha... what?" She looked around, her blond hair tangled all over her face. "Jansen, why... why are you on top of me?" Something deep inside of her purred, making her chest slightly rumble.
Jansen allowed her hands to be freed from her grasps, but she didn't get off of her. "You went kinda crazy, Faith. You... you blackout and did some things."
Faith didn't ask what she did, and Jansen didn't tell her. Instead, they both stayed in that position, just staring at each other. "Why do I feel so safe?"
Jansen smiled, she feels safe! Mate feels safe! "It's a secret, Faith."
Her mate pouted at the answer, making Jansen giggle. "I don't like secrecy."
Jansen didn't answer as she rolled off of her mate, getting ready for bed. They changed into their night clothes in the tent — and Faith borrowed some of Jansen clothes. She smells like me. It wasn't long till both of them were in bed. The Beta quickly covered her mate, getting under the covers also.
"Go to sleep."
Faith shook her head, "No." It reminded Jansen of a little kid. "I'm not tired. I'm wide awake." She didn't make any movements of getting out of bed, but when Jansen pulled her closer, she quickly snuggled up the taller woman. "Should I feel tingles?"
Jansen nodded her head. "Only with me," she confirmed, making Faith happy that something wasn't supposed to be a secret.
She better tell me soon. Jansen Lupin, I will figure it out. I have nothing better to do.
Faith closed her eyes, falling fast asleep. Tonight, she wouldn't have any nightmares like she did on the sea, but instead, the nightmares on being what she was started to take a toll on her mind.
She heard herself, in a different voice, in a different personality, in a different form, and this was scarier than the storms she had to go through.
As of in the beginning of the night, Faith's breathing was peaceful, and Jansen laid there, with her mates in her arms, through the night. After about ten minutes, she saw a shadow outside her tent. She quickly recognized the scent: Gem Lupin.
"You can come in," she whispered yelled, making sure not to wake up her little mate.
Gem unzipped the tent, sticking her head inside. "Mom wanted me to check on you two," she chuckled, stepping inside her younger sister's room. With the playful glare she got from Jansen, she quickly added, "And maybe I wanted to check on you too."
Gem stared at Jansen, her nose wrinkling. "Whats with her smell?"
"She's definitely part wolf."
Gem raised her eyebrows, "But the doctor said was human. How is she suddenly a werewolf—when you did you turn her?"
Jansen kisses her mate's forehead when she stared to shake in her arms. With the extra contact, Faith sighed and stopped shaking till her next episode. "The doctor must had read the graphs and charts wrong, Gem. I don't know," she sighed, closing her eyes. "I don't know, but she a wolf. She tried to sleep with me."
Gem scoffed, "Are you sure you weren't coming onto her?" The smile of her face told Jansen that she was joking and the Beta rolled her eyes at her Alpha. "What happened?"
Jansen smiled, "Well, she started to nuzzle into my chest. Ok, maybe I was flirting with her, but she physically started everything." Gem laughed at her sister's words, moving to sit on the end of the bed. "We kind of just escalated till I pulled away. Gem, it took my Beta voice to get her to come back."
"It's almost like her wolf just surfaced into her bloodstream," Gem spoke, thinking out loud. "The mate bond must had activate her wolf," she turned to look at the two in bed. "First thing tomorrow, you need to get her blood check again. We need to get to the bottom of this."
"What does that mean?" Jansen asked, thinking about her mate's situation.
"She must be a mix between a human and a wolf. It... it makes a lot of sense. She came from the other continent, Jansen," Gem tone fell flat, and her lungs started to hurt. What that poor girl went through...
"You mean," Jansen growled out, shaking with anger.
"Well, going on what she said about our kind, her mother must had been human— been on the wrong place at the wrong time." Gem rubbed her sister's leg, trying to give her strength. The Alpha knew her Beta was about to lose it, and it would have been worst if Faith wasn't in her arms.
