Thunderstorm
Bruce pov
As I was driving home from the office I heard on the radio that it was going to storm tonight. I knew that Dickie hates thunder. I rushed to get home when it starts to rain. I ran inside when a loud boom rang in the sky. I ran to Dickie's room when I heard him crying. I rushed in his room to see him crying in his crib standing up.
"It's ok Dickie. Daddy's here." I whispered to him as I hold him tightly.
"Dada!" Dickie screamed through his tears.
"It's going to be ok." I whispered to him softly as I took him to my room.
I closed the window and took my shoes off. I laid Dickie down and took my suit off. I put on my pajamas bottoms and lie down next to Dick. I pulled the covers over his tiny body to hide his eyes from the storm. I hummed to him softly as he sobbed in my chest.
"I know it's scary Dickie. It will be over soon." I whispered to him.
Dickie still sobbed in my chest. I rubbed his back gently as I continued to hum him his lullaby. I kissed his forehead sweetly as he placed his tiny fists on my shirt. I sat up on the headboard and cradled him to my chest. His cries grew louder with each boom of thunder. I looked on the bedside table and saw his batman stuffy. He loved that toy more than any other toy in the house. I take the stuffy and waved it in front of him.
"Hey Dickie. Look here. It's your batman stuffy. You love him don't you. Here you go Dickie, take it." I coed to him as he reached for the stuffy.
Dickie slowly stopped crying when he saw the stuffy. He grabbed his stuffy and cradled it to his chest. He cried lightly in its head as the storm raged on. I cradled him closer to my heart as his grew slightly softer. Soon his cries stopped completely and he just looked at me with his reddish blue eyes. I sighed in relief when he stopped. My little bird crying was the worst pain I could ever feel. I took my thumb and brushed away his tears. His little body jumped slightly from hiccups. I chuckled slightly as I kissed his forehead.
"Does my little Dickie have the hiccups?" I coed to his as I buried my face in his sweet smelling hair.
He hiccuped again, answering my question. I patted his back lightly to try and stop them.
"Dada?" Dickie asked through his sniffles.
"Yes Dickie." I answered as I stopped patting his back.
"Storm scary." He said as he buried himself in my chest.
"I know. It's almost over." I said as another boom hit.
"Dada, lala!" Dick ordered with a sob.
"Ok. Just calm down." I pulled him tighter as I started to quietly sing.
"As I whisper this sweet lullaby
I only prayer its your mind.
Let all your fears drifts away
And let sweet dream fill your head.
Leave the black and white behind for now
Let your dream be beautiful in colors
There is a place for the lover
There is a place for the dreamer
And this lullaby, this is the place for you." I sang softly to him.
By the time I finished singing, he drifted off to sleep. His own little Batman in his arms tightly. His eyes shut close gently and he lightly sucks on his thumb. I lay down next to him and wrap him in my arms. I squeezed him tightly, kissed his forehead, and fall asleep next to him. Even as the storm rages on.
