Costume
Costumes can make or break a hero! What a hero wears becomes their iconic look and is what they're recognised for so it's important that they pick the right one. Yet again, I'll make a quick list of things not to do then I'll jump into it!
Do not:
- Make your oc's costume stupid. It makes no sense for somebody with an animal transformation quirk to be wearing a suit of knights armour, or for someone with an ice quirk to be wearing a costume with fire patterns and sun rays all over it.
- Use your oc's costume to s3xualise them. So many people do this and it's frustrating. If your oc needs skin for their quirk to work, don't take this as an opportunity to put them in a skimpy bikini or something. Make it logical.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It makes sense for your oc's costume to be decorated but it shouldn't be too extravagant nor should it be extremely plain. There's no need for a stealth hero to be wearing a neon costume with flashing lights and multiple large accessories on it. Additionally, a hero specifically trained for something like running fast shouldn't be wearing a denim as that may or may not light them on fire 😟 Soo, how do you actually make a hero costume?
Well it's good to first visualise a base. Would your oc suit a bodysuit like Mt Lady, casual clothes like Jirou, a costume with shorts or a skirt like Tatami or Momo etc. Then you should think about aesthetics and colours. Does your oc suit maybe more of a dark and mysterious look, or perhaps they're more of a cutesy person. Whatever it is that you choose, you should use that to help make it.
You should then think about purposes. Most hero costumes are built with the intention of supporting the users quirk, so how are you going to incorporate that? It could be something simple like open areas of skin if the oc needs it, or it could help with drawbacks like Uraraka's wrist cuffs and neck piece do, or it could be something like tank of water strapped to their back if their quirk is something to do with controlling water. Whatever it is, it's best your user's costume helps them. I've made a a description template just incase you want to lay it all out first, alongside some suggestions in brackets! If you use this template then delete anything in brackets and add your own details. Feel free to delete/add to this if you use it.
Costume Theme: (Galaxy, ocean, nature, certain animal etc)
Colour scheme: (I think this one's self explanatory but it's the colours on the costume)
Main pattern: (Camo, stripes, swirls, spots etc)
Support Equipment:
Lastly, and this is the most simple one, don't make the costume crap.
This is what I mean. It's boring, only features two colours and doesn't appear to have any support items. Try to avoid costumes like these unless you're into a really simplistic look
Tbh looking back at it, that's not even the worst costume but you get my point, it's waaaayyy to plain.
