Chapter Thirty-Seven:

Small rain drops dropped on the ground Gem was currently breathing heavenly now. She was sore, falling and sliding in the snow. Since joining the hunter society, she didn't get to shift into her wolf as much as a normal living wolf would, leaving her clumsy in her second form.

She huffed, padding towards whatever was pulling her this way. The connections with Paige and her were destroyed. She had destroyed the weak bond.

Paige can't hold those bonds forever. Her wolf smiled, letting her tongue fall out of her mouth. She felt water land in her mouth and on her pelt. She was thankful for the soft rain falling from the sky.

She was relieved when she put chase those wolves and vampires. Somewhere deep in her heart told her that they let her go. As if they were trying to break their bonds, but they had no idea that was possible.

With her lumps weak and tired, she shifted. Her naked body was attack by the cold, but she would be able to stretch her body in a way a wolf couldn't.

She looked up, seeing the lighting blue sky. The rain slowly started to weaken, and the clouds started to head towards Paige and the rest of those terrible trapped souls.

The sky after the storm is beautiful. Goddess, what I do to show Hunter.

Her wolf whined about the distance between them, which was shortening with time. She whined again and again, till Gem had to shut her out.

What if mate found someone else while we were gone? Or what if he is actually under Paige's control?

Shaking her head, she started to walk slowly. She was happy that she was wolf, the coldness not bothering her. Although, that didn't stop her hands from covering herself.

Her feet hit the snow, making her sink from the top to the bottom. Her ankle came under, making her lift her feet and legs higher than usual. She wondered if anyone was still looking for her. She understood that they left, reporting back to Paige.

Her red hair would easily catch people's eyes, and she hoped the ones who found her would be werewolves, good ones.

At least that would help explaining my body suit.

She looked ahead, seeing a large, ancient, historical structure: the house the Moon Goddess was blessed in or born.

Gem started to jog, but froze when she smelt something amazing. It was Hunter, her mate. It was her home, her pack. She could see her father, along with some other Alphas who had reached the spot.

She could see Hunter standing next to Jimmy, her younger brother, and Jansen, her younger sister. She screamed, running towards them.

They all turned their heads, seeing a woman shifting into a wolf.

Hunter smiled before running out, getting closer to his mate. When they were close enough, Gem jumped, and, like always, Hunter would catch her.

Jimmy clapped, coming from behind. He patted his sister's head, and Jansen gave a laugh before hugging the red wolf in front of her.

Alpha Lupin marched over, excited his little girl was home, but also furious.

"Gem," Hunter whispered, pulling the large wolf's body closer to him. The Lupin kids backed up, giving the mates room to greet each other. "I miss you so much."

Gem licked his nose before licking all over his face, getting her mate wet everywhere.

Alpha Lupin set his hand on Hunter's shoulder, moving the human man towards the building. The wolves watching backed away, giving respect to an Alpha.

When they were alone, Gem's father forced her to shift. Hunter was about to step in, but Gem gratefully obeyed the Alpha's command, accepting her father to be her Alpha again.

"How?"

Gem smiled at her father's question. "I... I don't understand, but I broke the bond."

Her father hugged her, bringing her naked skin closer to his clothed one. Hunter couldn't help, but looked away. Humans were not use to the nakedness wolves were close to, and the view to him was distributing.

Gem giggled at her mate. "It's not weird once you get used to it, Hunter." She let go of her father before walking closer to her mate, who had no idea what to he was supposed to do.

She'll be hurt if I don't hug her, and her father will kill me if I do.

Alpha Lupin looked at the boy, watching as his daughter came closer to him.

Her arms wrapped around Hunter's neck, pulling herself up to his height. Hunter's arms worked by themselves, wrapping around her lean frame.

A low growl happened, but Gem snarled at her father. "Let me hug my mate in piece."

Her father left, most likely to get his mate to back him up. Gem shook her head, knowing her mother would be on her side.

Even though they were the same species, male wolves and female wolves did not think alike.

"Gem?" Hunter asked, holding his mate on his arms. "As much as I love you, can you please put on some clothes?"

Hunter watched as a couple of male wolves walked past, staring at the exchange between two mates.

Gem laughed, smiling.

She nodded her head, "Would you like to help me pick at outfit?"

Somehow, it took a long time before Gem was finally dressed.
