Chapter Three:
They both felt the wind blow through the window as they speeded towards their distention. Paige sat in the passager seat, full as she could possibly be. She glanced at her brother, who always lived for riding fast and furious.
"God I'm beat," Paige mumbled, moving in her seat to get a more comfortable position. "We should do this more often."
Hunter nodded his head, smiling at his sister's statement. I can finally get you away from that lab.
"Yeah, we should," he laughed, turning left. "Man, Paige, you ate more than the restaurant could even offer. Did you skip a meal today?"
"Actually," Paige rolled up the window, feeling cold, "I've been eating more. It's like I had a hole in my belly, and everything I eat, the food, just falls out." She shook her head, looking through the car out of boredom.
"Eating more?" Hunter asked. He remembered the doctors saying her living habits would differ from the ones from before, but she ate more than he could even eat.
"I'm a growing girl, Hunter." She shook her head as she gazed up ahead. "Did you buy flowers?"
"They are in the back."
Paige nodded her head, shaking her brown hair out. She missed these types of things. Every Friday, Hunter and Paige would go out and celebrate. Then on Saturdays, they would visit their parents grave.
She could remember seeing people walking up to the gravestone of her parents and wishing them for their blessing. The Kills were the best hunters, and their death shook the society.
"Think it's going to be packed?" Paige asked, staring at the gate of the graveyard. Hunter shook his head before opening the car door. Paige followed, and quickly went to the back to grab the flowers, black and white roses and a couple of lilies. "When was the last time we did this?"
"Before."
Paige nodded her head. That's right. Oh God, I'm a terrible daughter.
They walked in silence, too afraid to talk. There have been cases where ghosts would rise from the grave to terrorize anyone who disturbed them.
In the distance stood a figure of a woman. Paige and Hunter quickly recognized her. After all, even with different blood, they would be mistaken as siblings.
The woman was named Sage. She had light black hair, her eyes were white, and she was a vampire hunter. She was quick to any sound and would kill without hesitation.
"Long time no see, Kills." She turned around, staring at the two siblings. She gave a nod to Hunter, who she practically spoke to every day. She smiled at Paige, wondering how the healing process was going. She knew the pain in going through something like that. She was captured in Hawaii.
"You saw me yesterday," Hunter rolled his eyes before giving the women a hug. Like his sister, Sage was taller than most women. Their hug wasn't as awkward as it would be with someone who had the height that was below average, and everyone knew Hunter disliked hugs where he had to bend over. "Stop being so dramatic."
"How are you doing, Paige?" Sage asked, smiling at her. "I heard about the achievements you made in that old lab."
"I've been good," Paige smiled. "Just trying to set things right." When I'm done, those creatures won't even know what hit them. "You know, have you found anything unusual with vampire blood when you are testing them?"
Sage smiled, "You aren't in the lab, P. Live a little." Sage turned around, giving a bow to the grave before making her way out to give them some privacy. Everyone knew that the parents of the Kills took no hesitation in scaring away the bystanders when their children came to talk to them. "I'll see you two later!"
"I hate how she has so much free time," Hunter chuckled after he waved her goodbye.
"It's not her fault that you are wiring in becoming part of the Council." Paige smacked his arm before sitting the flowers neatly on the tombs. "Hey, Mommy. Hi, Daddy."
Hunter patted his sister back. "Hey."
"We miss you a lot," Paige started up again. There are so many things I want to tell you. She didn't know where to began.
"I killed my tenth Alpha last week," Hunter mumbled, smiling at the accomplished. Usually, the average hunter kills three Alphas. Paige smiled up at him. He was a lot like his father. Their father had killed thirteen vampire Coven Leaders.
"Well," Paige smiled, "I'm on the path to figuring out how wolves heal." Hunter rolled his eyes, shoving his sister lightly.
"Well, I helped with... that process," Hunter mumbled, smiling as Paige only shook her head.
"Sure you did," Paige laughed. She turned to look at her parents grave. "As bad as it sounds, we are going to destroy your record."
Hunter nodded, knowing their parents would be proud that only they could have beaten them. He stood up, helping his little sister off the ground. "Bye Mom. See you later, Dad." Hunter gave a wave before walking away slowly.
"Bye Mommy and Daddy." Paige kissed her fingers before setting them on the grave. She smiled sadly before walking away, catching up to her brother.
"They're proud of you," Hunter whispered, pulling Paige in for a side hug.
"I know. And they are proud of you too." Paige smiled. "You didn't tell me that you killed another Alpha."
"Didn't want to brag."
I know you, Hunter Kill. "Whatever you say, dear brother."
