Chapter 29

have you ever asked yourself do monsters make war or does war make monsters?

Chapter Twenty-Nine:

The wind blew harshly up in Alaska. Packs from all over the world came together to discuss the new threat blooming with the hunters: Paige Kill, Alpha of all. The rumors were true: she could control anyone she wanted, and if they didn't follow they were dead by morning.

Hunter Kill stood beside his mate, Gem Lupin, as an elder spoke to the Alphas, Betas, and other high pack members from all the packs who were still alive.

"Alpha Lupin," The Head Elder called out, making the Alpha rise, facing his daughter and future son-in-law. "Please explain the information your daughter and this werewolf hunter had found."

The Alpha nodded his head, "Gem first meet Paige Kill when she was a mere human. To save her life, she injected her with the project she was making. We like to call it Dark Moon."

One of the Elders listened to what they were saying with their pens, writing  word for word what the Alpha was saying. The others nodded their heads, some even glaring at Gem.

"Paige lived, and she was slowly healing. Hunter Kill said she showed no symptoms after taking the injunction. He also said before anything happened, her body started to heal at a fast rate and her ears became pointy." The Alpha continued, staring at Hunter Kill, who he still wasn't a fan of.

Hunter looked up at the large group of old werewolves sitting in a high desk. They really do like their dominance.

Gem leaned her head on Hunter's shoulder, staring at her father. "If you allow me to say something Elder," she trailed off.

"You may speak."

"I have been trained to be a hunter since I was fifteen. I found my mate in a year, and had to keep it a secret. You can trust Hunter because I trust him. He told my father that a threat was looming, and that threat was his sister." Gem snarled respectfully.

Some Alphas and Betas growled. For centuries, hunters had been killing wolves they love and whipping out packs.

"He's still a hunter, Gem." A warrior growled, but was silence by Alpha Lupin.

"Let him speak," an Elder spoke, making the room fall silent.

"Paige was a hunter. She only attacked wolves who attacked her, and she actually held riots about not killing pack wolves." God, this is hard. It's like she's already dead.

"She was sent to Alaska, actually. A pack had been hunting humans, and she offered to stop them. She went alone, and got capture. She was torture for about a year before we rescued her.

"She wasn't the same. She healed, and when she was ready to go back to work, she was put in the research lab. That's how she worked on her project.

"I should have done more to save her," Hunter sighed. He felt sparks in his hands as Gem laced her fingers threw his.

"It wasn't your fault. Nobody saw it coming."

He nodded her head, letting a hesitated breath go.

"I know our species haven't been getting along, but if we don't work together, there might not be anything for us. She had already escaped, and she has taken a large amount of people with her."

Packs started to mumble, trying to figure out how to take her out.

"Why don't we send an Alpha?" A voice yelled out, but Gem quickly shut it down.

"Paige took me out easily. I'm trained by my father and the society of hunters. We will be lucky to leave a scratch on her." Gem stopped the agreements, who quickly ended mouth wide and catching flies. "We need to hide and try to find her weakness. Then we can attack. It doesn't do us any good when we are all dying."

"She's right," another Alpha called out. "I hate to make my pack go into hiding, but I have a eight year old daughter and a pack I need to protect." I'll do anything in my power to protect my little girl.

Some Alphas opposed, but they all knew what was needed to happen. They needed to trust Gem Lupin and Hunter Kill.

The werewolf race depended on it.

The Elders nodded their heads. "How do you plan to figure out her weakness?"

Gem shuffled her feet; she took a deep breath, ready to let her parents know why she wasn't as connected with them. Let's see how everyone takes this.

"Through me."

Alpha Lupin looked at his daughter. "If you think I'm sending you back, Gem." He started the growl, but Gem shook her head.

"She dominated me. I told you that. My wolf bowed down, allowing her to become my Alpha." She looked down at her feet, and she could feel Hunter's gaze. "It's only a matter of time before she comes to find me, and it would be best if I don't know all the import details."

Luna Lupin stood up, tears in her eyes. She whimpered. My poor pup.

She opened her arms, not caring who was around. She was a mother, and she would always have her arms open for her daughter. Gem walked towards her before wrapping her arms around her, rubbing her face into her mother as she cried.

"I'm sorry Mommy. I'm sorry," she whimpered, feeling broken. Just like when Paige defeated her in the forest. "I'm sorry."
