Chapter Eighteen:

Rain softly fell from the sky. Paige walked alone. Her feet hitting the sidewalk as she walked to the house she earned from her kills. Hunter was about five miles away, and Sage lived in the complex apartment.

She sighed, using the key squished between a little rabbit statue and a window. Paige didn't even remember what her home looked like. She didn't visit often after getting released into her lab.

When she opened the door, a large scent wave rushed at her. She almost felt like herself, her old self. The one that only hunted evil rogues and packs. The one who hanged out with Sage and Hunter. The one my parents knew.

Growls and snarls happened inside her head, but unlike the others, the voices started to mix with her own thoughts. The monster inside her head, Sacrifice and Purity, used to be their own creature. Now, the three of them were almost one.

Remember those innocent wolves killed your parents. They ruin you, and everyone else you loved.

Paige nodded her head, closing the door behind her. She spotted the couch in the living room, a table in the dinning room, a oven in the kitchen, and dust everywhere.

There was a faint scent of her brother, Hunter, around some parts of the house. Paige chuckled when she remember she asked her brother to grab something for her.

Her happy memory soon turned into anger when she realized that same brother, her only brother, is hanging out with her Omega, his mate. It should be cute that they are together, but my brother deserves more than a mutt.

She walked into the kitchen, pulling out a plate as she thought about what she wanted to eat. Her body wasn't craving human food anymore. She didn't feel like eating pasta, apples, oranges, and carrots. She felt like eating bloodied meat and drinking some Type O blood. She wanted more gruesome food and a little show.

Go get it. Find your next meal, Human.

Her door opened. Some foot steps started to walk through the house. "Paige?" Paige nearly gagged at the sound, the sound of a betrayal. "It's Sage. I know we didn't get off at the right foot. Do you want to talk?"

She listened as Sage walked up the stairs, unaware of the presence in the kitchen.

"I'm going back to training for vampires since I stayed on the werewolf side for a while," she chuckled. Sage peered into Paige's bedroom, seeing a light layer of dust. She really hasn't slept in this bed.

"Paige!" She yelled, going threw each of the upstairs rooms. Paige migrated to the couch, waiting for Sage to come down stairs again. When she did, Sage rolled her eyes. "Could have said something, P."

Sage sighed when her little sister didn't answer. Say something please.

"I think we should talk about our conversation from a couple days ago."

Paige nodded her head, waiting for her to continue. Even though Sacrifice was pushing for her fangs to be implanted in Sage's neck, and Purity wanted to shift, Paige was able to separate them from her main stream of thoughts. Family is family, and the Kills don't leave anybody behind.

Sage smiled, sitting down and motioning for Paige to do the same. When Paige sat, Sage started to explain.

"When I saw you walk along side of Gem coming back, there was blood dripping from your face. Gem looked like she just died inside." Sage leaned her head against Paige's shoulder. "You looked so morbid, Paige. It was almost like you were the monster."

Paige froze. Her heart standing still as she breathed. Was I becoming what I hated?

Sage watched as a light flicker in Paige's eyes, but as quickly as it came it was gone. The voices in Paige's head already over powering her and the daughter of an Alpha.

"I bite someone, and Gem heard something she didn't want to hear," Paige spoke, her words forceful.

Sage shook her head. "Gem is a werewolf who has lives with hunters since when she was fifteen. I don't think a word from another wolf would make her look like that, Paige." Sage whispered, trying to press Paige into admitting something. Instead, Paige grew more upset.

"She cried when Hunter told her he was demoting her, and I do what I have to do!"

Sage shook her head. She couldn't, could she? "Paige, be honest with me. Did you threaten Gem? Is that why you told me not to worry about her?" Please say no.

"I did what anybody would have to do, Sage." Paige stood up. "Please leave."

Sage stood her, her hand covering her mouth. "Who are you?"

"Get out!"

Sage slowly backed away, looking over her shoulder. She had tears in her eyes, never imagining Paige Kill acting like this.

"I'm so sorry, Paige," Sage cried out. There's no way I'm letting you live like this. You can hate me all you want, but this is for your own good.

She ran out of the house, being quick to get to her car. She only had to wait a few beeps before the person on the other side answered her phone call.

"Hunter, she needs help. She really does."

The next day, a group of hunters were there to escort Paige to her new home.
