Camp Jupiter
Now that we covered Camp Half Blood
time to visit and tour their Roman Counterpart, Camp Jupiter
Now for those new to the Heroes of Olympus series or those who haven't read the series in a long time
Camp Jupiter is the more militarized , Advanced version of Camp Half Blood for Roman Half Bloods and their Legacies(the offspring or descendants of Half Bloods) settled in their peaceful, rather well hidden home of New Rome hidden in San Francisco, ran by Praetor, Reyna Avila Ramirez- Arellano, the daughter of Roman War Goddess, Bellona
And as of nowadays, not much is known about Camp Jupiter's status, but for those who want their Demigod to be of more advanced godly heritage, Camp Jupiter might just be the perfect Camp for you
Now, for a further a do, let's get to the tour of Camp Jupiter
Traditions:
The Wolf House- This is one of the most important traditions to be ever involved with Camp Jupiter and occurs when the demigod or legacy's parents considers them "of age", when the demigod is of age, they are sent to the Wolf House to be trained by their wolf teacher, Lupa. While they're under Lupa's training, they'll be trained until they're considered fit enough to endure the training of Camp Jupiter. Once training is complete, the demigod can move on to the next tradition.
Tattoos-
Now, once the demigod endured the harsh training of the Wolf House (considering they're still, somehow alive),joined and served Camp Jupiter for a year, the demigod will receive a tattoo of their godly parent or the one they're descended from on their forearms. Now this tattoo is rather important, as after every year of service, a bar line will added underneath it as a count of how many years you've been in service. In other words, to others among Camp Jupiter, it's the easiest way for them to see who your Godly Parent or Ancestor is and how long you've been with the Camp.
Temples- much like their Roman Ancestors, the Demigods at Camp Jupiter usually get to serve their godly parents by leaving offerings on the altar at said Godly Parent's temple instead of burning a portion of their meal to them like the folks down at Camp Half Blood and are often found on Temple Hill in Camp Jupiter.
War Games- much like Capture the Flag over at Camp Half Blood, as a form of training. The games include activities such as Gladiator Fighting, Chariot Racing, Sieges and Deathball( a game much like paint ball, but with balls of fire, poison and acid instead, fun!) and after finishing such games, it's often common for legionnaires to build a new fort for the next round of War games so they don't have to do the same challenge twice.
Cohorts:
Well, now that your Demigods' got traditions, it's time to move on to the next big thing; a living space. Now, unlike the Cabins of Camp Half Blood, the Cohorts are Barracks of forty Cohorts each and are separated in categories ranging from best to worst.
These Cohorts include from Best to Worst:
The First Cohort- The First Cohort is considered the best. It is where the campers with the best letters of recommendations go, in other words the First Cohort is consisted of the elite or the elite. The First Cohort mainly consists of the most A-List of Legionnaires and requires alot of hard work and back breaking training to get into.
The Second Cohort-Considered the second best, legionnaires who are in this cohort get almost as good of a reputation as the First, mainly considered the B Class of the Cohorts. This Cohort often consists of the Legionnaires who unfortunately didn't make it to the First Cohort, but are still considered good enough to be part of the Elite.
The Third Cohort-Considered the average cohort, campers with average letters are placed in this cohort and mainly considered the C Class of the Cohorts. A place for the Legionnaires not good enough to join the Elite but not bad enough to join any of the lower courts.
The Fourth Cohort-Between the average Third and the worst Fifth. Considered more of Less the D Class of the Cohorts, their exact ranking reputation among the other Cohorts is unknown, but it is known that their Mascot is the Wolf.
The Fifth Cohort-The worst in the legion, campers with the worst or no letters of recommendation are put in this cohort. Easily considered the Underdogs of the Cohorts, the Fifth Cohort is often considered the F Class of the Cohorts, consisting of the weakest of Legionnaires. Though ironically, despite being considered the worst, is the Cohort where a huge majority of well known Praetors have come from.
Structural Society:
Now, that you know your Roman Demigod's traditions and Cohorts, time to learn the third most important thing about Camp Jupiter, the Community. Unlike Camp Half Blood, the Community within the Legion is more ranked and complicated, ranging from Probatio to Praetor, along with other individuals to choose from. Sure, these rankings may be alot to study, but, hey, atleast we have alot more to pick from, I mean Variety is the spice of life, so, with a further ado, lets get to last but not least, the Structural Society of Camp Jupiter.
Probatio- Probatios are the poor unfortunate souls who haven't proved themselves to be in the Legion yet and have to prove themselves by doing a year's service to the legion or do an act of great courage.
Centurions- Centurions are the leaders of the cohorts who play a similar role to the Head Counselors at Camp Half Blood. Unlike Camp Half Blood's Head Counselors except for some exceptions, The Centurions often work in pairs instead of a single individual, and are the Second in command to work as Senators, the first being Praetors.
Senator- Senators are individuals that are elected to qualify after serving the Legion for atleast 5 years. Senators are used to discuss any problems that arise and usually include Centurions and Praetors.
Praetors- The Praetors are the main leaders of Camp Jupiter, and are usually democratically elected into the position. There can only be two at a time at maximum, though this rule has been broken twice before, and serves as the leaders in all of the legion's affairs, including battles and used to serve either commanders of an army or judicial administrators in Ancient Rome.
Augurs- Similar to Camp Half Blood's Oracle, the Legion Augur is an Individual who interprets omens as an indication of divine approval or disapproval of a proposed action and often act as a substitute Praetor when both Praetors are gone and much like Oracles, Augurs can also reside prophecies with slight assistance from Apollo as well as Chicken Livers in Ancient Rome and Teddy Bear stuffing or other more harmless substitutes to sacrifice.
Medics- Basically the Paramedics of the Legion, and are usually there in Battle to heal injured campers using Nectar, Ambrosia and Unicorn Draught. It's unknown if the Medics are of Apollo's heritage much like Camp Half Blood or rather a mix of legionaries skilled in Medicine, but either way, they still play an important role during battled and in War Games.
Messengers- As their title suggest, Messengers are individuals who deliver messages to Praetors as well as Senators and much like my 7th Grade English Class, you'll often find atleast one lucky camper with a good letter that could get them special jobs like a legion messenger, much like that one lucky as hell kid who manages to get some extra brownie points from the Teacher during show and tell.
Legionnaires- Full members of the Legion, Legionnaires are the main soldiers who serve in the Roman Legion and are renowned for their discipline, obedience, building skills and fighting skills. Legionnaires play more or less a same role as Campers at Camp Half Blood, though, unlike our average Campers at Camp Half Blood, Demigods and Legacies may only become a Legionnaire after getting their tattoo after serving a year in the Legion or being claimed by their divine parent or ancestor.
Whew, now THAT was alot of writing
though fortunately there's only two more chapters on the camp left
one of Camp Jupiter's Location and Landscape and another on the Two Camp's differences
As for those who are too hesitant to use Camp Jupiter for their OCs or their books? welll...there's no need to be afraid of using it, sure it's alot more complicated, but it's still fun and experiment around with the advanced aspects, so don't be afraid to come out of your comfort zone and experiment a little. Experimentation is key, and if it all goes wrong? well, the best way to fix that is to see or ask others where you went wrong and try again. Mistakes happen to everyone, so if you're afraid you're gonna mess up with experimenting around, don't be afraid to do so, because well, mistakes is the way we improve, especially when it comes to writing and especially drawing. So if you really want to mess around with Camp Jupiter? don't be afraid to do it, as long as you're having fun with it and experimenting around
as for my lack of updates on this book, well, I'm seriously sorry for my absence, I don't know what the hell's been going on, but School hasn't exactly been easy on me and over time with the lack of time to do research, I guess I just lost interest, but you can thank the Camp Half Blood Confidential Book for rekindling interests into continuing this book
Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the chapter and I promise to update this book more often.
But
As always Demigods
Stay awesome!
