Chapter 3: A True Chance Encounter
A/N: I hope you all enjoy it.
Gannon's Pov:
This morning's feed was very lackluster, so much so that I had to actually eat human food. I needed the food to feel as full as I usually did, even though Human food couldn't compare to the taste and nutrition of sexual energy for me. My day didn't start off all that well and now it just continued to be as disappointing and frustrating.
The project that I thought I perfected a completely silent vibration motor burns through batteries way too fast. And I was so excited to test it out then put it on the shelves of my store.
I've been tinkering with it for hours with no hint of progress being made. I leaned back in my chair and rubbed my closed eyelids. Man, I would kill to have one of my destined to just walk through that door and ride me for a few hours right now.
I chuckled as I thought about how many times did I think that sentence over the hundred years I've been alive. I put up all my work before I got out of my office. Maybe, some fresh air will do me some good.
I left my shop in the hands of my manager and took a walkout on the streets. Men and women alike gave me sultry looks, and those were the ones that weren't ashamed or afraid of what they wanted. As easy as it would be to have one or two of them to warm my bed, I'd much rather have at least one of my destined.
I remember when my mother, Ariel told me about destined. It was a little after the powers from my father's side emerged. He was encouraging me to give in to the advances of the other students.
Saying that it would be a good experience for me. But I was torn, would my whole existence just be a string of sexual encounters? Would I never find real, true love?
I confided in my mother about my worries, one night after a very quiet dinner. It was quiet because I didn't speak to either of them that much. Mom came into my room after knocking lightly.
I didn't pause in my ball throwing once as I addressed her, "Hey mom, dinner was great. Sorry I didn't say that earlier. I just didn't want to talk to dad".
"This is about your powers from your dad", she guessed out loud as she walked further into my clean teenage room.
She sat next to me on the bed and lifted her hand up, signaling she wanted me to aim the ball at her.
I smiled a little as I did just that and told her my worries. Mom caught the ball and threw it at the wall so that it came back to me. Back and forth we went as we talked that night. Once I was done with my piece, Mom spoke.
"What do you think our relationship is? Your father and mine, I mean", she questioned me as she glanced at me curiously.
"I don't know. You're my parents, I see that you love each other. It's just I know that love and lust can be confused for each other. And maybe you only stay together for me. Dad has other women too", I shrugged my shoulders as I just let my thoughts pour out with no filter.
Mom laughed so hard that she almost missed the ball as it came at her. Once she did grab the ball she turned to me fully with her eyes wide and eyebrows raised up.
She smiled as she spoke, "Oh Gosh. I've never told you about destined have I?"
My face felt almost as red as my hair as I thought for a few horrible seconds that my mom was making fun of me. I blew out a relieved breath when I found I was wrong. I simply shook my head no, as I raised my hand for the ball.
She tossed the ball and started to tell me her story, "I read about destined when I revisited magic school. I just needed an escape from my father at the time. The book talked about how destined are usually magical creatures who your soul recognizes as their missing piece."
"Missing piece? Isn't a soul made up of a whole orb of light?", I asked my mom interrupting her story with my curiosity.
"Destiny decided to mix things up and they took a small piece or pieces of souls and give them to other souls that they were made for them." She explained which filled my head with more questions.
I interrupted her again, rubbing the ball between my palms before tossing it back at her, "Sorry mom. But does that mean we have no choice over who we want to be with for life?"
She caught the ball and rubbed it between her palms, "No darling boy. A destined is just the holder of your piece and universally your best option at a true love. Whether you want that love to be romantic or platonic is up to you and them. They aren't your only option. You can always take your piece back and move on with your life."
She tossed the ball at the wall and I caught it before I blurted out my neck question, "Dad is your destined isn't he?"
Mom nodded with an almost goofy wide smile on her face. I tossed the ball at her and she spoke, "He showed up when I least expected it. And would not leave me alone. He damn near almost got me captured by my Aunt, who I tricked into giving me legs."
My reminiscing was interrupted by a voice shouting out, "Nia, watch out!"
I turned my head towards the sound of the voice but stopped when I spotted a young woman about to get hit by a car. I was moving before I could think about it. I wrapped one arm around her waist a second after someone else did.
My exposed arm brushed against the other guy's arm. All I felt was tingles buzzing through my body in a way I have never felt before. I turned my head, taking in the sight of the car slowing down. Yet my focus was more on the beautiful man in front of it helping me save this woman. Rich chestnut skin that seemed to radiate warmth, brown eyes set with determination and excitement.
A slightly crooked nose, strong jaw and inviting sun-kissed lips, stretched in a playful smile. Oh, the things I could do to make that smile even wider. I closed my eyes tightly as I remind myself to focus and get the woman out of danger. I held onto her forearm as we lifted her and moved her to the sidewalk.
"Are you alright? You're not hurt, are you?", I asked her at the same time as three other male voices.
