Chapter 12

When Marinette entered everyone gasped, looking at her, she even revived some compliments while she sat down at the end of the table. At the other side of the table, their master groaned but this time it was a groan of amazement. He looked kinda surprised too, he wasn't excepting their guest to accept to have dinner with him.

He believed that if she won't eat with him the first time then she'll keep refusing to so, guess he was wrong.....

The dinner was served, Marinette ate without a word, sometimes glancing at Chat who sat at the table and ate in a very cultured manner, almost like a human. Some of the servants stood at the side of the table, they were silent but had a big, content smile on their face. Those servants were Rena, Carapace, Sans and another skeleton.
That skeleton was tall, slim and had the hugest smile on his face. He seemed very kind, Marinette made a mental note to speak with him later.

At one point Marinette glanced at Rena who gave her a reassuring smile and with her eyes, motioned towards their master. Marinette sighed winch caught the big monster's attention, finally making eye contact. Marinette still felt a shiver running down her spine from his gaze but this time she also found herself lost in those forest green eyes, that had a threatening sight but as she looked at them, she also noticed the soft shines they gave off.

Chat had similarly made a discovery, winch was the fact that he liked her eyes. This was a big thing from him, especially because he despised every human. He never told anyone that he used to be one himself, but not because it would appear strange, unbelievable and they probably wouldn't trust him anymore.
No, he didn't told anyone because he grew to hate humans.

They hurt monsters for no actual reason, tried to explain everything they did because they think they know better even though no one believed in supernaturals nowadays......and don't forget how selfish they are.

This was the reason why he accepted their deal in the first place. He wanted to understand, why would she sacrifice herself for a little girl that wasn't even hers, especially if she was a human.
But when he locked eyes with her, his hate towards humans was forgotten (though only for the moment) and those bell sky blue eyes were everything he could see.
They stared at each other for a while, in the end, it was Marinette who finally broke the silence.
- The food is very good, don't you think?- She gave him a small smile, never breaking eye-contact. He hummed and nodded, knowing that she wouldn't understand if he answered. Still, the answer gave some courage for the woman to continue the conversation.

- So, how long have you been the "Master" here?- For a moment he stared at her, his eyes becoming ice cold again. She looked at the 4 servants at the side of the table, they made a slightly scared but surprised look until suddenly the tall skeleton's eyes lit up, he leaned down to Sans's (nonexistent) ears and whispered something.

Sans grinned widely, excused himself and simply disappeared in thin air. Poof!
Marinette looked amazed, her mouth wide open and she looked back and forth between the servants and Chat. The 3 servants snickered and even Chat seemed calmer, amused at her amazement.

Then, from thin air, Sans reappeared at her side, making her gasp out of surprise. This time, everyone chuckled, even Marinette herself joined knowing how funny she could look from the outside. Then, everyone froze when they looked at the Cat-like monster. A smile was visible on his face.

The servants were both shocked and happy, they only saw their master smile once or twice and even that was a long time ago. Marinette on the other hand haven't seen Chat smile yet and she was fascinated by the view, she was surprised as well, she didn't knew how.......calm and friendly he could appear. It only lasted for a moment thought. He stopped smiling, snapping everyone out of their daze. The servants sighed, at least he smiled.

Suddenly, Sans remembered why he went and came back in the first place. He took a small object out of his pocket, took Marinette's hand and placed a small device around her wrist. She didn't protest, she needed to thrust the servants so will try her best.

Sans finished putting it on, then he switched the thing on. It gave off a small green glow from it's screen. The skeleton began to make a strange noise, it was similar to a bugging computer but it was more clear and the device had reacted to it. On the screen, the line moved up and down signaling that someone spoke. Then, from the small holes that formed a circle, a man's voice said:

- Is it working?- The voice was a bit robotic but it was a man's voice. San's smile widened as he looked at Marinette's surprised expression.

- Ya' like it?- Sans asked with a grin still on his face, he knew that the girl will be amazed by the little device.

- Well- Marinette began- I don't really understand what the device does, but it seems interesting.- She told him honestly. On the other side of the table, Chat looked at the two of them then at the device, he already had an idea what does it do. He groaned, taking the attention on himself, everyone looked at him while he spoke and when he finished the attention turned back to the device winch said:

- I think, Sans had made a translater......- The voice that came from the device was different this time, it was more cold and straight but higher as well. The woman looked at him then at the device and at him again, finally she smiled and looked at Sans with curiosity.

- I didn't knew that monsters have their own language. It's so interesting! How many language is there? How does it work?- Marinette was as curious and excited as surprised, she relly wanted to learn more. Althought, she only found out the existence of monsters merely 2 days ago, she was curious and if she is really going to stay here the last that she can do is try to understand them more.

That curiosity surprised Sans but he was more then happy to explain those things for someone who was willing to listen. So, he began to explain that every monster had a different way of speaking, yet they spoke in the same language. It was very interesting and Marinette loved to listen to Sans, he seemed passionate about this stuff.

- Your a big nerd, aren't you?- Marinette laughed but stopped when she saw Sans's expression. He seemed both angry and upset. She didn't excepted that, she said that in a joking manner, she didn't mean to hurt the skeleton's feelings.

- Don't call me nerd, EVER!.........please.- He said his sentence in a very serious and threatening voice, but that last word was almost like a plea. The tall skeleton rushed next to Sans's crouched down and embraced him. Sans's pupils have disappeared but a cold smile remained on his face when he put his small hand on the arm of the other skeleton.

- I'm sorry, Master- He spoke, his voice was high, full of energy and very loud- I think my brother need some rest. If you excuses me, I accompany him to his room.

Sans looked away, sham was written all over his face as Chat nodded and the tall skeleton who claimed to be his brother, lifted him up and exited the room.
