Well, well, well. What do we have here?

We have the first rumour I wish to speak of in this book.

"Michael Jackson bought the Elephant Man's bones".

Now ... okay.

Firstly ... Michael originally set that rumour into place to create a slight sense of enigma about him. He basically wanted to catch the media's attention, so he started the rumour himself that he bought the elephant man's bones.

Pretty stupid thing to do, right?

Wrong.

He only wanted to do it as a joke, not to be serious. We all know Michael was a little prankster, so ... it's understandable!

However, the media took the joke too far, and started making it worse by making up completely false rumours.

That's what started the term, "Wacko Jacko", but that's a whole other chapter, which shall be published tomorrow.

Michael started a little prank, just to mess with the media and the readers of the newspapers ... and then the media manipulated that and made it into something it wasn't.

AKA, a serious matter, which haunted Michael for the rest of his life.

I would say that it's technically Michael's fault for starting it, but I can't say that because he only did it for fun. It was the media that made it worse.

So ... I don't really have anything else to say on this particular matter.

It's just so ridiculous, I can barely even ... damn!

He even said of the rumours, "It's garbage ... it's just tabloid junk", whilst in Sydney, Australia for the HIStory tour.

So, c'mon, non-Moonwalkers, think before you speak, eh?

Don't ever say that Michael bought the Elephant Man's bones, because it's a load of crap.

Seriously ... literally just don't say he did that, cos he didn't. It was just meant to be fun ... but it backfired.

I guess you could say that the jokes were on Michael ... in a way he didn't want.

And that's sad.

Why did Michael have to go through so much?

And why, now that he's gone, do us Moonwalkers have to experience it?

It's pathetic. Really pathetic.
