Hmm, this is an interesting one. Very interesting. So interesting, in fact, that it still causes me to question the non-Moonwalker mind.

If I had a pound for every time someone told me to "Find a better role model than Michael Jackson", then guess what?

I would be ... a MILLIONAIRE.

So, let's have a look at this, shall we?

A better role model, huh? That's what you reckon we should get?

Then why is it, whenever I ask these guys who their idea of a "good role model" is, they always say:

•Justin Bieber
•One Direction
•Sam Smith
•Ariana Grande

You get the picture. My point is, it's all these modern artists that have been known for like ... five years! We've barely seen anything from them; not enough to have their role-model-magic sprinkled over us.

Michael, however? He's been known – as of 2015 – for, what? Five decades; maybe just under that?

For the purpose of disliking the idea of time wasting, we'll call it five decades.

That's 50 years.

600 months.

2,607 weeks.

18,250 days.

438,000 hours.

26,280,000 minutes.

1,576,800,000 seconds.

That's a lot, isn't it? So much so, that you probably couldn't even read the numbers for the amount of minutes and seconds.

My point is, Michael has been around for ... it feels like forever. No one can imagine life without knowing Michael Jackson. Nobody's mind works to tell themselves, "Life would be the same whether Michael Jackson was in it or not".

That's a lie to yourself, if you say that, because Michael Jackson has effected everyone in different ways.

Haters – it's given them someone to hate on, sadly.

Casual listeners – it's given them light entertainment.

Normal fans – it's given them someone to look up to, perhaps.

Moonwalkers – it's given them a reason to live.

No one in this world can say that Michael hasn't effected them; it's just simply not true.

Pretty much everyone in this world knows who he is, so ... that also makes it harder to deny he has an effect on everyone.

Let's move on from numbers and statistics now.

Let's delve (such a lovely word: delve) into the world of Michael's generosity.

Later in this book, I'll talk more about his charity work and everything like that, but for now we're keeping it basic.

Some people state that Michael was not a good person, which is ultimately why he should not be a role model.

Wrong!

He WAS a good person. He gave to charity and wrote songs to raise awareness of events and those less fortunate than ourselves. He's tried to help Heal The World ... and he loves children.

However, because of the accusations, Vitiligo and the rumours which allowed the media to deem him "Wacko Jacko", the real Michael failed to be seen by those who dislike him.

The fans, however ... we know the truth. We know he was a good person, and VERY role model worthy.

His quotes are also inspirational.

"I don't care if the whole world is against you, or teasing you, or saying you're not going to make it. Believe in yourself, no matter what".

"A star can never die. It just turns into a smile and melts into the cosmic music; the dance of life".

"If you enter this world knowing you are loved, and leave this world knowing the same, then everything in between can be dealt with".

"We all must unite, to turn darkness to light ... and the love in our hearts will shine".

"Don't waste your time on the past. It's time you look to the future. It's all right there if you ask. This time, if you try much harder, you'll be the best that you can be".

You get the idea. His words are just ... they're like magic; weaved into a web of perfection ... and Michael is the creator. He's the spider of life, metaphorically speaking.

On a final note, it's acceptable to point out that he has inspired so many artists in their work, and inspired so many generations, from toddlers to elderlies, to be different; out there; your own person.

And that, non-Moonwalkers, is why he's our role model.

I doubt it'll happen.

Because he's perfect to us, despite his flaws.

C'mon, let's be fair.
