Ch. 6- Family Day
Ch. 6- Family Day
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had woken up before the sun had risen and quickly went to Emerald.
"Emerald, wake up! We got to move you, come on!" I put Emerald's gear on, which took a few minutes, before I pulled out the hidden basket and flew to the nearby cave.
There was a small nest that Emerald has for when she comes here about once a month, for dad loved taking the family to the cove.
I put on the special gear so Em could fly without me and she narrowed her eyes. "Sorry Em, but this is goodbye for a whole week. I'll try to sneak out, but no promises." I gave her a hug. "Stay."
I managed to get home before dad and the boys woke up, but mom was awake.
"Did you explain to Emerald what was going on?" mom asked me.
"Yes."
"Is she going to come visit you?"
"Nope."
"Why not?"
"No answer," I told her, smiling to myself as I helped her with breakfast.
"When are we going to meet your friend?" mom asked.
"I don't know."
"It's been almost five years."
"I know. I don't know where the time has gone. It seems like just a few days ago I was five and met Emerald."
"I know. My little baby's grown up so fast!"
"Hey, honey," dad said with a yawn, giving mom a kiss on the cheek and me one on the forehead.
Right behind him Blade came in, "Hey, mommy." Mom laughed and bent down so Blade could copy dad, I followed her.
"Just like Bard, remember Hiccup?" mom asked.
He chuckled, "I remember, my beautiful Astrid." He gave her a quick kiss on the lips.
"Morning," Bard said, sitting at the table.
We ate breakfast, a small conversation here and there filling it.
"Everybody ready?" dad asked.
"Yes, baby," mom smiled.
"Yeah," Bard said.
"Yes, daddy," me and Blade replied.
"Okay then. Let's go!"
Like normal, Blade, dad, and I ran ahead and messed around as we went. Bard use to do so as well, but he stopped last year. Mom sometimes joins us.
Once we got there he noticed my little hut. "Hey, look," dad pointed out. "It's been upgraded."
"Like it, daddy?" I asked as he checked out the now empty hut.
"Yeah, it's cool. Do you know who made this?"
"I do!"
"Who?" he asked, though I had he feeling he had a good guess.
"Emerald and I did."
"Aw, that's awesome, baby girl!" dad said, happily, as he threw me up in the air and caught me.
"This one is better than the other one, but it's not done yet," I told him.
"Really? What else you got planned?"
"I plan on having a shelf or two over there," I said, pointing, "With a couple small baskets on it to hold a few things such as blankets and pillows or whatever. Maybe a small chair or two here, and a space to sleep in, a space big enough for a dragon and a Viking."
"A dragon?" he asked, his eyes excited. He loved dragons.
"Yeah, but I'll make another room for that and the door will be about here," I told him, gesturing. "I might do a few other things as well. Have any ideas?"
"I'll have to get back to you on that," he said with a chuckle. "Now come on. I'm sure mommy wants to play with everyone."
Since it was warm outside we went for a quick swim in the pond before eating lunch. After lunch we chased each other around, mom taking more breaks than usual, then we went for another quick swim.
That was an amazing day. We laughed, played, and enjoyed each other's company. Although we did it at least once a month, it was time well spent. Time I loved and memories I still cherish.
The laughs, the smiles, the bright, happy expressions on my family's expressions, I will never forget that. Even when Blade tripped and fell in a small puddle of mud, he was still smiling, he even continued to chase Toothless, who helped him up.
When it was time to go I was exhausted and fell asleep as mom finished packing. Dad must've carried me home because I woke up in my bed the next morning.
Sorry it's short.
