Imagine living life with a stupid name and stupid glasses and stupid hair and a stupid mind. If it's not bad enough living that life, remember that everyone will never let you forget it. I was a normal kid with an abnormal something. I never knew what it was that was wrong,  just that nothing was right and I can't survive primary school.
Couldn't. I meant couldn't. Stupid Gillian. Ginger Gillian. Four eyed Gillian.

Low self esteem Gillian.

"The next letters of the alphabet are I, J and K. I is for igloo. J is for jungle and k is for kangaroo." Smiled the teacher. "We've already done curly c and this is kicking K. They are written differently:see? " Three lines drawn on the board that changed my life in worse ways than maths ever could. K is not for cruel but it is for kicking and I'm sure you know who noticed that.

Words may be painful but football boots should not belong to bullies.
But the plaster was the best thing I could have been given then.

I may not know all my ABCs but I can do b.

Weekend. No school whether I should go or not and there was nothing to do except walk into town. My hair in plaits like mummy used to do and my favourite dress on. Pink and white checks. It's from Skoolkit but it's not for my school. I love it because I managed to find the right size for me and when I grow to big I'll make my own. Sewing is my hobby and it would look less schooly. Not that I hate that; I love that I'm wearing uniform- I love school deep down- but it's nice because I hate my own school. Maybe if I walk far enough I can find the next town. I could go to school there- no. No more school. No more uniform. No more mummy and daddy. No more no more little me. I see a girl with light blonde hair about my age. Maybe I could be like her. From now on, I am growing up. I just need to work out how.
