Introduction

Glow up: a person's transformation into a more attractive or accomplished version of themselves.

This was the definition that came up when I looked up what "glow up" meant in the dictionary for the very first time. When I read it, I didn't think much of it. I thought it made sense.  I had heard of this trend on social media, and I remember thinking how much I wanted to glow up to.

Full of determination, I then proceeded to indulge in hours of scrolling on Pinterest and Tiktok (etc.), finding all I could about how I could glow up too. After many hours of staring at the screen, I had come up with a list of everything I could improve myself on... unrealistically.

My list consisted of three main concepts:

-Workout religiously/cut out sugary foods

-Have an amazing skincare routine

-Perfect the art of confidence

But despite the challenge, I was determined to do it. And I did. I worked out everyday, bought a slew of skincare products, and saved one to many TikTok's about confidence tips. But what I didn't realize until too late was that I was falling into the black hole of society's expectations of perfection. I was unhappy, expecting impossible results, and putting too much pressure on myself. That's when, (after comparing myself to some random people on the internet) I realized that being perfect is utterly impossible; and the sooner I realized that the happier I was.

I then began to make my own glow up guide; an in-depth, detailed, realistic one anyone could follow that wasn't just physical. A guide that made you feel happy and accomplished doing it. And now I am sharing that guide with you.

My glow up guide includes three sections with ten chapters each. The three sections are guides on how to glow up...

Physically

Mentally

Spiritually/Socially

I hope that this book inspires you to improve yourself in all three of these aspects, each one equally important. I also want to acknowledge that I fully know that everyone is different and that my techniques might not work for everyone. Everyone is beautiful just the way they are, and you should be proud of who you are. Hopefully at least one of these concepts will help you improve yourself (even if it's in a tiny way.) It's time that we and society realize that perfect expectations are impossible ones, but realistic ones are. Thanks for reading and enjoy!
