For those who might not know him, his name is Phuwin Tangsakyuen. He played the main character opposite Pond Naravit in "Fish Upon the Sky".
Phuwin's POV
My phone started to ring just as I entered the university cafeteria. I had no time to walk over to the in-campus mall. It would make me lose precious time and miss my next class which was right after lunch.
The ringtone told me it was Pond.
Dammit, I knew straight away why he was calling.
It was all going to be talk, talk, talk about his boyfriend Gun. And I would be listening, pretending to be enthusiastic about his latest romantic events, or making sympathetic sounds to his complaints that Gun didn't understand him well enough, or that Gun was so hard to please, and so on and so forth. I could easily give all those drama actors a run for their money and garner the Best Actor award every year.
How I have kept it a secret from Pond so far, the secret that I have this great big crush on him, is all due to my excellent acting ability to play it cool whenever we spent buddy time together.
I met him several years ago when my family moved to his neighborhood. I had an instant crush on him which up to now I have managed to keep a secret.
There was absolutely no way that I was going to let him know, because I could tell from his interaction with me that he saw me as nothing more than a younger brother, with whom he felt comfortable and could share ideas and secrets without being judged.
"Hey," I said after I swiped my phone screen to take his call.
"Where are you?" he asked without any preliminaries.
"At the cafeteria," I replied.
Shit, I heard him say under his breath.
"I would have wanted to have lunch with you," he said.
And talk about nothing or more accurately, no one, but Gun, I wanted to say but bit my tongue on those words.
"Sorry bro, I barely have time to eat lunch because I have to catch another class in a few minutes," I informed him.
"What time does your last class end?" he asked.
"Five thirty," I replied.
"Can you meet me at the mall near my house?" he asked, his voice sounding a bit desperate.
I wanted to make some excuse not to meet him but I knew that I would feel guilty about it afterwards.
"Okay," I said. "Where in the mall do you wanna meet?"
"The food court," he replied. "We can have an early dinner there. My treat."
"Fine," I relented. "I'll be there a little after six."
"See you later then," he said and cut the call just as I reached the cashier.
Shit I had been randomly picking out dishes while talking on my phone. I ended paying more than the usual for a student lunch.
"It seems like you're really hungry," the cashier teased me as he rang out my receipt. "Will you even have time to finish all of those before your next class?"
I just smiled and took the receipt that he handed me and walked over to an empty space at the end of a bench near the entrance of the cafeteria. I always chose that spot because it made it faster for me to leave and get back to my next class on time.
After my last class for the day, I hurried to the parking lot. I glanced at my wrist watch. I would make it to the mall at about the exact time that I had promised Pond.
When I reached the third floor of the mall where the food court was located, I saw Pond standing close to a Philippine food booth. The name of the booth was Pagkain (A/N: It's a fictitious name for a food booth. It's a Philippine word that means Food)
He waved at me when he saw me emerge from the escalator. I waved back at him and quickened my footsteps to reach him.
"I'm in the mood for Philippine cuisine," he said without preliminaries like, hi, how are you, how did your classes go. But that's just him and I'm used to it.
He waited for me to react to his suggestion.
"Yeah, I like Philippine food, too," I replied.
Together we looked at the food choices on the menu.
"That sinigang is very similar to tom yum soup," he suggested.
"I'll have that too," I said. "And I want some chicken adobo."

"Let's go for it," Pond said already walking towards the food booth counter.
We brought our tray of food and drinks to a quiet corner of the food court.
Before I could even dig into my adobo Pond covered his face.
He was talking through his fingers as he spoke.
"He's been cheating on me with someone named Boat," he said.
Pond didn't even have to tell me who "he" was.
