Rule No.10

Rule No.10

Turn your lights on when it's raining.

This rule is actually a law in several locations. The reason for this rule is the fact that rain reduces visibility and turning on a vehicle's lights makes it more visible. The law states that if you have to use your windshield wipers then you must turn your lights on.

That this helps prevent accidents is obvious, but some drivers assume that since they have running lights on at all times they don't need to turn on their lights. What they don't realize is that even though they have front lights, their taillights are not on. Taillights are needed to prevent a rear end collision.

Some idiots turn on their hazards when it's raining, which makes lights both front and back blink on and off. Hazards lights are to be used when your car is disabled, not when it's moving. This confuses other drivers who don't know if you're tapping your brakes or what.

Most drivers are unaware of these laws concerning when and when not to turn on vehicle lights. What they don't realize is that traffic laws are designed to prevent accidents. They're common sense actions that all drivers should be aware of.

Vehicle lights are to be turned on at dusk before it actually gets dark. Most drivers do this, but they don't realize that lights should be on if they're using their wipers.

This concludes the ten rules to prevent accidents. I will post bonus chapters on other simple rules to follow that could prevent accidents.

Thanks for reading.
