"Shit, Rhys! Watch out!" I yelled at him as I sliced the head of one of our enemies who attacked me. "Oh, shi--" Rhys yelled. Unfortunately, being the reckless, jackass idiot he was, he died. Great. Now we'll get disqualified. This guy always dies! I can't believe it! We were about to reach the finish line! Ugh!
"That Rhys." Nathaniel said through gritted teeth. Well, I can't blame him. Now, we have a big chance of... well, losing. All because of Rhys, lol. "He already did this countless of times. He's lucky he can respawn. I swear, if I ever get to meet him in real life, I will definitely beat the heck out of him. Sorry, boss." I stated as I scratched the back of my neck.
Oh, how rude of me. Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Stella Adrian Payne. A normal high school student who has an undying love for games and anime. We are currently in a game called 'weapons out'. To be able to enter this game, you are to wear a certain head gear. The head gear helps you travel a different world with your consciousness, so, apparently, this is like real life. Well, aside from the fact that you don't die. In my opinion, this is the best game that I have ever played so far.
In this game, a player CAN join a team. I, on the other hand, chose to join one. Earlier, when the knucklehead died, we were fighting with the enemy team. We have to get to the finish line before them or else, they'll win. Well, you need to outnumber the opposing team though.
Umm, actually, there are 4 types of warfares here--yep we call 'battles' as 'warfares' here. Please don't ask why. I have no idea either-- and they vary depending on the tiers.
Tier a, b, c, and d. You know? Somewhat like easy, normal, hard, and challenging? Tier A, being the easiest, is a maze game. Mazes and stuff. Just like that. Other teams are not involved but you can also add them if you'd like to. But no killings of the other teams though. There are traps all over the place and awesome shit. Step on a land mine and your health will go all the way to 90%. There are also computer-controlled non-player characters a.k.a. mobs like goblins so you can acquire experience points, money, and stuff by slaying them.
So tier b, the normal, is a racing game with a bit of twist. 2 opposing teams are placed on the opposite sides of the place. They might cross paths--well, of course--considering the fact that the battlefield --lol-- isn't that big but big enough to accommodate twice the maximum amount of team members. Well I guess it IS big. By a bit of a twist, I mean you need to outnumber the opposing team when you get to the finish line. You can kill other people to outnumber the other team. But while inside the battlefield, you also need to be careful of traps that are already set. Also the mobs. Oh, almost forgot! Tier B is what we're on right now. Since people don't literally die, people who die-- ... -- are sent to the waiting area where you wait for your teammates.
Tier c, the hard one, is an obstacle course, racing, and a maze game combined. Strictly no killing. One kill and your team members will be kicked out of the warfare. Again, the teams are placed on the opposite sides of the place. Wait, wait. Before explaining this one, I'd like you to know that the maze game only have traps. No obstacle courses whatsoever. So basically, this one is just the combination of the first 2 tiers but with obstacle courses this time.
The last one, tier d, the 'challenging', is a combat game with racing, mazes, obstacle courses, and mobs. Just the same as tier c but teams are placed close together so after the countdown, it's up to you if you will engage yourself into a fight first off. Yeah, killings are allowed.
Moving on, since Rhys just died, our chance of winning is 50-50... or not. But hey, the other team has more number of deaths! In each team, the maximum numbers of members are 20. We, on the other hand, are only 5. But it's not really necessary to reach the maximum numbers of members! All you need to have for your team are strong, loyal, and honest members.
"It's fine! The other team, though there were 9 people involved, has more numbers of deaths than us. They clearly have the potential to lose, I believe." Neal stated proudly with his head up high. "Shut up, you dork." I told him curtly, whilst following our boss on the way to the finish line. "Tch. You act like a girl on her period." He mumbled. I just gave him a stern face. "Hey, Tristan! Why so glum today, huh?" Neal once again started.
"It's nothing. I just heard a bizarre news about this game. That's... that's it." He paused then looked at me while running. Ugh. Such a long run to the finish line. "Adrian" He called out to me. Yeah, they call me Adrian. They think I'm a boy because of my avatar. Oops. Explanations later. I nodded, telling him that I'm listening.
"Have you heard o-of the news, too?" He stuttered a bit. I shot him a confused look. What on Earth is he talking about? "Oh, nothing. Seems like you guys haven't heard of the rumors yet." Tristan responded as we came into a complete halt. We have already passed the finish line. YES!!! WE WO--- "Here comes the team loser." The guy snickered with his remark. I guess I spoke too soon.
So after a warfare, everyone is teleported back to the waiting area and then the village where... It's a free... village.
...
...
Yes. A free village where you can kill wild animals or even other players, buy stuff, build houses, and other kinds of stuffs if you want.
"Wow, Neal. So much for being positive that we'll win." I stated as I stared at my teammate. If you could see his face, it was hilarious. His mouth was hung low. Eyes wide open and he was just standing there, motionless. "No!! They cheated! I'm sure that guy was dead already! You killed him, Adrian! He should be in the waiting area." Neal suddenly bursted out with matching hand signs.
I snapped. Wait. He's right. The orange haired jackass was supposed to be in the waiting area with Rhys and his other teammates already. Well, if he didn't use a potion of reviving, that is. But still, that potion was sure expensive as heck!
"I used a potion of reviving, we're also four and we have reached the finish line first. That means, we win." The orange head bragged. Pfft fine. Nevermind winning. There are still lots of times. Well, for now, I'll stick with the "better luck next time". The only thing that's unfair in this tier is when your team is too small and then the other party is too big. Just like this one, to be exact. "It's fine, Neal. If Rhys didn't die, it'd be a draw." Nathaniel, the captain of our group said. His eyes are covered in shadow and a dark, menacing aura surrounding him (just like in anime xD). Neal suddenly cringed. Lol.
We have decided to exit the competition now. In the waiting room, there, we saw a somewhat scared-looking Rhys. He welcomed us with his constant chanting of apologies. "Rhys, you idiotic, knucklehead, dodo nincompoop!" Nathaniel yelled with a rising and falling tone. Obviously trying to compose himself. Poor Rhys. His second time of facing our captain's wrath. Well, I'll make things clear now.
There are 7 types of players. A tank, fighter, assassin, mage, shapeshifter, marksman, and a support. So here are my teammates!
Nathaniel, the leader of our team, is our tank. He often takes the lead, of course, and is always the first one to engage a fight and also takes up most of the damages from enemies. Well, he is our tank afterall. He is also our tactician, by the way. His avatar is a black haired dude with a pair of black eyes who is, I think, a bit too innocent. A bit too innocent, I repeat.
Tristan is the mage in our team who has elemental powers. His expertise is water, he said. This guy is too fair-skinned and is actually the tallest in our group. His avatar is a blonde dude with a pair of green eyes.
Neal is one of the marksmen in our team. An archer. A damn long-ranged bastard. He's one hell of a kill-stealer. This guy is a red-head, blue-eyed jerk. Oops. I made him sound like a complete douche bag. Sorry, Neal. Haha
Rhys, is our team's fighter. A short-range so that's why he often dies. I mean it. His avatar is also blonde like Tristan and blue-eyed like Neal. He's my closest friend in my team... But this guy's dense. I still remember this girl who was way too touchy-feely with Rhys but Rhys thought that the girl was just making 'friendly gestures'. I remember I told him this. 'Would you touch your friends like that?' and then he would reply with a 'if they asked me to, I guess?'. And then we were all quiet and creeped out until everyone logged out. Seriously. Even Nathaniel knew that the girl was just flirting with him.
And me, I'm also one of the team's 2 marksmen. I'm not an archer though. I often use guns... With Neal stealing almost all of my kills. Seriously. My avatar is a brown-haired boy with a pair of brown eyes. Just to be plain.
"Neal, sorry." I told him out of the blue. He rose a brow and said, "huh?". I just shrugged and turned away from him. He was making a confused face while staring at the ground. Serves him right! Do you know why I apologized? No? Nevermind.
So we lack an assassin and a support. Shapeshifters are not actually a must-have because they are extremely rare so many teams always want shapeshifters . But only because they are rare. Wait, what did I just say? Okay scratch that. They are a must-have. It's like they are just randomly inserted in the category. Why are they rare? Because I heard from somewhere that you need to train a whole 12 months to attain the skill of shape-shifting. What kind of training? I dunno.
Nathaniel, Tristan, Neal, Rhys, and I have been teammates for about 2 years now so that explains why we talk to each other like this. For these 2 years of experience with them, they have mistaken me for being a boy. Until now. I wonder if they'll get angry if I told them the truth. Would they kick me out of the team if I did so?
Well, the truth is, at our very first encounter, I wanted to tell them that I'm actually a girl but it seems that they didn't want a girl member and my avatar was actually a boy. Since I was really desperate to join a team on my very first day here, I decided that I should just go with the flow. So now, here I am, still feeling a bit guilty. Well, talk about honest members. And also, since my other name was that of a boy's, I decided that I should just use it so I could not spit out any more lies. I guess that's clearer now, yes? After a few minutes of scolding Rhys, we decided to go back to the village and exit the game for now.
Well, it's only because it's already 23:37 and also, I'm sleepy. Yeah, I could still feel sleepy when I'm in the game. But it's not like someone will scold me. I'm living on my own with a little support from my aunt, of course. I still can't manage by myself though I already have a part time job. Someday, I'll definitely repay her!
You see, my parents are long gone. When I was only 6 years old, they have already passed away and by that time, my family took me out of the house, saying that I'm useless. I'm lucky because my aunt was there. She's the only one who had accepted me wholeheartedly. If she was to leave me alone too, I would've been sent to an orphanage right away.
She had treated me as her own child, considering the fact that she and her husband never had a child before. Oops wait, wait, wait, wait! How did it turn out like this? No time to be depressed! I think that was enough. I'm really sleepy. I guess I will sleep now.
Taking the head gear off of my head, since I was already lying on my bed, I drifted off to sleep. Well, I'm early tomorrow. My part time job will be starting early so I might as well go to sleep now. I'm lucky yesterday was the first day of summer vacation. Well, oyasuminasai!
