Chapter 28: Astrid
Of all the things Hiccup has been proud of, his flight suit was number one. I wasn't just going to leave it.
Yeah, okay, call it just something dumb, but think. You worked on this thing for like a year, got it working, flew with it and found out that it saved your life and your village, I think you would want to save it. Hiccup's pretty modest, but I knew he doesn't want to lose it. Its become a part of him. Without it, he'd need to make a whole knew one to fly Toothless comfortably again.
Next to my ring, it was the cooles thing he'd ever made.
The stupid thing was my downfall.
I had the flight suit in my bag when the horn was sounded. I groaned and jumped on Stormfly. I thought I was safe when we were shot down. I got a hold of my ax easily and cut the ropes, but the outcasts were practically on my tail. "Come on, girl!" I tried to jump on Stormfly again, but an outcast grabbed me. Stormfly keep flying. At least she'll get back to Berk, I thought.
I swung my ax around. It made contact with the outcast's sword. He swung again, but I was ready. I ducked, swung my legs out and made him fall on his face. I kicked his sword out of his hand.
Another two outcasts came. I deflected their blows easily, until someone came up from behind and grabbed my hair. I gritted my teeth and tried to swing my ax at the guy's head, but he grabbed the ax out of my hands and threw it. I was breathing heavily.
"Where'd the cheif go?" I'd know that voice anywhere.
"He's gone, Alvin," I said through gritted teeth.
"And do you know where he is?" He asked, pulling harder on my hair.
"Why would I tell you?"
"Because if you don't, I will burn down every village of peaceful tribes, including yours. With no cheif, it'll be easy."
I tried to losen his grip on my hair. It was useless.
"Now," Alvin said. "Tell me where Hiccup went or I'm taking you back to the cells."
I glared at him and spit in his face.
He growled at me and grasped my neck in his hands. I gasped for air.
"I'm going to ask you one last time-"
"Never!" I choked out.
He threw me to the ground and I yelped. "Get her to say where the chief is. If not, we sail for Berk in the morning. The whole armada!"

I was tied to Hiccup's old prison post. There were bloodstains everywhere on it and I could only think of Hiccup's raw back and cries of pain.
Berk wasn't ready for this! They were expecting Hiccup and me to be home by now. Instead, I got captured once again and Hiccup's on some island with our new allies. If the Outcasts attacked Berk now, we'll be anhalated!
But I couldn't tell Alvin that he was with the Bog Burglurs. If I did, then an innocent village would be destroyed. And besides, Berk has the upper hand. We have dragons for Thor's sake!
The outcasts were all running around, trying to get Alvin's orders done. They looked as if they were working as if their lives depended on it. They probably did, now that I think about it.
No one bothered me for the day. The sun was starting to go down and I still hadn't been able to escape. I expected everyone to wait and continue preperations tomorrow, but they didn't quit. I tried to get some sleep, but it was imposible with all this racket.
I was hungry, thirsty and exausted. At least when I was in the prison cell they gave me some moldy bread and water. Now I was staring at a well that seemed to taunt me. I shut my eyes and turned away.
"I see Alvin's got you," said a voice.
I looked up, too tired to be scared.
Dagur was standing over me. The man Alvin wanted me to assasinate. I clenced my teeth and didn't answer.
"You know, I always thought you annoying," he said. He squated down to my eye level.
"Likewise," I said through my teeth.
Dagur made tsking noises at me. "You know its an offense to offend your seniors."
"No, that's elders," I said. "And unless your calling yourself old, I can say whatever I want to you."
Dagur raised an eyebrow. "Really? I dare you to."
"Get out of here," I said. "Just leave me alone." I kicked him in the knee. He was unfazed by the kick.
He ran his fingers through my hair. "You know, I think I finally see what Hiccup sees in you."
"Leave me alone!" I said, kicking him again. He didn't budge. Instead, he was getting closer. I stiffened. I knew what was coming. I wouldn't let him. I could smell the ale in his breath.
He slowly drew closer to me. I backed up against the post as much as I could and turned away from him. He grabbed my bangs and forced my head to look forwards and slowly pressed his lips against mine.
I got my feet on his chest and pushed him, hard. He fell on his back. I spit the taste of him out of my mouth. "Go home, Dagur," I said through gritted teeth. "You're more drunk then a adict on Thor's day!"
Dagur stood up, shaking. "You will be mine...Hiccup doesn't have a chance." His words were slurred. "''Casue I'm gonna kill 'im!"
"I'm not going to let you touch him!" I said.
"Oh, I think... I will. Than who'll be the one to comfort you?" He pointed to himself sloppily. "Me."
"I'd rather be comforted by a snake," I snarled at him."
"Your loss," Dagur said, shrugging his shoulders.
I glared at him as he stumbled away into the night. I spit again. Kill Hiccup? Over my dead body!
~
The next day the ships were ready. Alvin's men dragged me on the main ship. "I hope your ready to see the downfall of Berk," Alvin said.
I crossed my arms. "Please, we have dragons, Alvin. Do you really think Berk will fall so easily?"
"No, but I'll be able to take them out easily. Besides, your cheif is weak." Alvin tested the sharpness of his sword on his thumb. "It'll be like taking candy from a baby."
I looked out at the cold water below. Alvin was giving his men a pep talk, but I could barely hear due to my worry. Was Stormfly enough of a warning for the Berkians?
And what about Hiccup? Would he get to Berk in time? A large part of me doubted it.
But, one tiny part of my thought about all the close calls that Hiccup had. Maybe...just maybe, he'd save us once again.
