Dani's POV:
-a week later-
[the night before]
"Girls! We have chosen to sing our debut song on M Countdown! This is so exciting so we need to plan outfits" HyunJae says jumping up and down in excitement.
"On the debut stage OMO! Unnie that means-" Mel says but gets cut off mid conversation
"That means we must practice everyday until the day comes" HyunJae says and I watch as everyone groan out in unison.
-the day of the performance-
My legs are still sore from practicing from late last night with the girls.
We all look like a robotic zombies.
We are only surviving off of coffee at this point so any one of us could crash at any given moment.
"I'm so dead why did we have to practice exactly until 6am when we had to be here by 11am." Min-Jee whines as she finishes her cup of coffee.
We are all getting our makeup done by the makeup artists and I watch as other groups go on performing,to think that'll be us in a few moments.
"Hi girls I just wanted to come by and say hi and check on a little missy here who didn't text me last night if she got home safely" I hear from behind me and I smirk knowing who it is.
I turn my chair around to see Jackson leaning against the door to our room.
"Oh why hello Jackson as you see I did get home safely carry on now" I say rolling my eyes playfully & HyunJae nudges me with her arm.
"OW!" I exclaim & she sighs.
"don't speak to your elders like that" She says scolding at me like as if I was a noisy 2 year old.
"Trust me unnie he isn't that older than me" I say
"Remember what I told you there's formal and informal ways to talk to elders in Korea" she says to me sternly.
"Sorry geez" I say and Jackson chuckles watching us bicker.
"Hi Jackie babes,i was-mhmp I mean we are about to make our way to stage soon for our debut stage,I hope to see you afterwards" Mel says running her perfectly red painted nails through his hair and I glare at her.
"Well I have stuff with the boys but I can possibly make a drop by with them later on is that ok with you girls?" He asks me and looks at me raising a eyebrow.
"Jackson can we have a word?" I ask him & he nods helping me walk to the hallway.
I close the room door in Mel's face.
"Really? Flirting with my band mate real smart" I say crossing my arms.
"I don't know why you're so jealous,I mean Mel's single and I'm single so I can do some harmless flirting." He says smirking watching as I must be giving off body language that I'm pissed off which I am but I don't want him to know that either.
Don't wanna boost his ego anymore bigger than it already is.
"I'm not jealous "Jackie Babes" ew I barf at that nickname" I say rolling my eyes.
"GEEZUS you're cold today" He says
"It doesn't matter because Jungkook is my date for the evening" I say and it's all a lie.
Jungkook hasn't spoken to me,I don't even think he knows I exist at the moment.
I say that so he won't think I'm alone.
"Oh...I guess we both have a date then" Jackson says
"Yeah.." I say
a weird awkward silence emerges after that and all it took was for Mel to open the door and shout out "DANI get in here it's the final makeup touches we go on in 10 minutes!" She says loudly that even the astronauts in space could've heard her.
"I'm coming.." I say and as I'm about to walk in Jackson grabs my hand.
"Meet my backstage after please?" He says
Jackson Wang saying please,that's a first for me to hear.
"Alright" I say and walk in the room.
-10 minutes later-
"Here we have a new idol girl group that has entered the scene with the help of JYP Entertainment on their backs,there's actual words to describe them other than a mix of Red Velvet & Twice together,here is ONE MELODY!" The announcer says and the song starts as soon as the cameras focus on us.
"The first time I saw you boy,my heart went all crazy for you,you're such a dream to me,can we be alone just us two?" I sing the opening part of the song perfectly and Haeun comes out ready to rap.
"Sometimes people are crazy in love,but all I know is that you're definitely from up above,the craziest part is that I don't even know me anymore,cause I only want you mi amor" she raps her line
-a while later-
"Happily ever after starts with you Boy!" We all sing in unison finishing the song.
We watch as the two hosts come to greet us.
"So girls how do you feel after performing the group's debut song on national tv" the female host asks us
"It feels amazing I mean it was scary at first but now that we did it we're so happy." HyunJae says smiling and bowing to the lady.
Causing us to follow suit and bow to the lady in front of us.
"I see you have already a large fan base what message do you have for them right now?" The male host asks us
HyunJae moves me in front so I can speak this time.
Even though I know Korean,my pronunciation isn't perfect since I'm not a native speaker.
"our fans.." and that was then we realized we hadn't chosen a name for the fan base yet since we didn't even notice we had a growing one until recently.
The girls scramble to think but I blurt out "Melodies."
HyunJae smiles and applauds me.
"we love you so much and thank you for all the love and support so far and this is the beginning of something great I know it,i hope you enjoy this song we worked very hard to make it perfect,SARANGHAE" I say and make a finger heart.
"You heard it here Melodies,One Melody's Happily Ever After single is now on iTunes,Apple Music & YouTube so go stream it" the female host says and gives the camera a thumbs up.
-a while later-
We go backstage and I see Jackson waiting for me sitting down with a flower bouquet.
I walk over and I see Mel run over to him.
"Hi Jackie babes are these for me? Awh you're so cute!" She says pinching his cheeks and grabbing the bouquet before I could walk over to him.
I watch as he tries to grab the flowers and explain.
Me being clumsy I knock over one of the glass vases on a table next to me and it breaks causing the loud crash to make Jackson turn his head and he sees me watching them.
"Dani-" He says
I walk away and walk out of the building.
I stand outside and my phone buzzes.
"Jackson👑: Dani answer me plz I'm sorry"
Another text is sent in seconds after
"Jackson👑: the flowers were for you"
and another..
"Jackson👑: it's all a big misunderstanding talk to me plz"
I decide to reply.
"Dani💞: there's nothing to talk about Jackson you're fine." I text back to him.
I'm lying to him and myself because inside I wanna burst out to him that I have a crush on him and it's no longer something I can ignore.
Every moment I see him my heart beats at a rate I can't believe is real and I can't seem to control myself so to block off those emotions I come off cold and sarcastic to him,when in reality it would kill me to see him and Mel date possibly.
As I'm lost in my thoughts I didn't notice the sound of a loud door opening and closing.
I feel a arm on my hip and I gasp.
I form a fist ready to lunge and punch whoever is grabbing me and I turn around to see Jackson.
"What on earth are you-" my words are cut off by a pair of lips pressing against mine and I kiss him back.
I realize we are doing this out in public where anyone could see.
"Jackson what was that for?" I ask pulling away from him
"Idk...I just don't wanna lose you. trust me and Mel aren't a thing. I haven't even taken her on a date yet." He says
"You can't go missing anyone for anything Jackson! That's not how it works!" I say
my stomach is in knots.
my heart has started pounding fast again.
"I'm sorry but it was a reflex" he says
"Jackson..a reflex is like me hitting you by mistake with my hand. Not randomly kissing you." I say looking at the floor.
"DANI! There you are god you had me worried we have to go back to the house cmon" Haeun runs out and sees Jackson and me.
"Am I interrupting anything? Is he bothering you?" She asks me and stands in front of me to cover me.
She crosses her arms across her chest.
"No unnie I'm coming." I say
"I'll be leaving also" Jackson says
Haeun looks at me raising a eyebrow and I follow her into the limo.
What a weird day....
