Absolute silence followed. Gary's mouth was open, with his eyes threatening to pop out of his sockets.
"Well Gary wha....?" Ash was cut off
"TAKE THAT ASHY BOY A 78 OUT OF 100!" Gary shot out of the sofa and did a victory dance.
"Err Gary, you know we need an 85 to clear right?" Ash sweatdropped.
"BUT ASHY BOY, FIFTY OF MY GUESSES WENT RIGHT!" Gary screamed
"Congratulations Gary, this is a very good score considering that you have had only six months school at Pallet High."
"Wait, Gary you went to school?" Ash asked
"Yeah, same time as you, but go on, open your envelope." Gary was eager.
Ash opened the K.R.A seal on his envelope. "Weird" Ash thought "Gary's envelope did not have the seal on the flap."
Ash took out his marksheet. He had no expectation of qualifying, but still, his hands shook a little. He turned over and boy, his breath stopped.
Ash was in a blur. His mind had begun numb. He felt a female voice saying "Ash, are you in there?" He saw a hand wave. He saw a hand take the marksheet. He saw a female face he recognized as his mother's. He saw his mother gasp, a hand covering her face. He saw tears trickle down her face. He felt himself being pulled into a fierce bear hug. Finally, it was his friend Gary's voice which pulled him out of a trance.
"NO WAY ASHY BOY. AN EXACT 85!!!!!" Gary seemed to have got a heart attack.
"I knew it! I knew you had it in you! I knew you were special!" His mother cried
After a few minutes of drama, Delia composed herself and ran out.
"MOM! WHERE ARE YOU GOING?" Ash yelled
"I AM GOING TO PROFESSOR OAK TO HELP YOU GET ENROLLED! IT IS AN OPPORTUNITY NO ONE SHOULD MISS!" Delia yelled back.
Gary turned serious, "Listen Ashy Boy, tell me frankly. Did you take favors from outside to pass the test?"
"No Gary! I just guessed the forty questions blindly, and I had some knowledge of the thirty questions so I guessed with some insight. I only knew twenty questions!" Ash exclaimed.
"Well Ashy Boy, it seems you got in. But don't worry, the K.R.A also has a midterm entrance exam, so I will meet you in the K.R.A after a few months." Gary smiled genuinely.
This was what Ash liked. Gary was not fake. Although he is a blabbermouth, he is a genuine friend.
Ash was lost in his thoughts when he was shaken up by Gary's wolf whistle.
"Look Ashy Boy, it says that the Queen of Kalos has ordered a 50% reservation for girls in the K.R.A. It also says that since the reservation, from the last twenty batches, there have been around 85-90 girls in the K.R.A." Ash gulped. He felt Pikachu's and Gary's sly grins behind his back.
"S..So wh..what" Ash managed to stutter.
"Nothing" Gary smirk only grew. "Just that you will have very few boys to talk to in the K.R.A." he said innocently.
"Well, c'mon Pikachu, lets go training with our friends" Ash literally kidnapped Pikachu from the sofa and sprinted to Oak Labs.
THREE HOURS LATER
Ash leaned against a boulder by the stream. All his pokemon were thirstily lapping from the stream. The rigorous exercise had refreshened him up greatly. They were about to go for a second round when
"CCRRRRRRRRRRRAAAAAAAAACCCCCKKKKKKKKKKK!"
"What the heck!" Ash yelled.
"BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!"
It felt as if the forest was shaking.
"Everybody, spread out!" Ash commanded.
Ash's pokemon followed suit, searching for the mysterious sounds
It did not take them long enough
In a clearing, six pokemon were attacking an injured Riolu. Although the Riolu was extremely fatigued, it was holding his own. It was raining aura spheres and an occasional bone rush on the pokemon. However, the attackers were winning.
As soon as Ash found the clearing, he yelled
"Pikachu, electroweb!"
The web electrocuted the attacking houndooms before they could land a hit. BY now all of Ash's pokemon had come to tha battle scene.
"Charizard, fire blast!"
"Bulbasaur, Vine whip!"
Krookodile, crunch!"
"Sceptile, leaf blade!"
"Snorlax, tackle!"
Now Ash turned his attention to the Riolu. "Riolu, I know you will not trust me, but please, use one last Bone Rush to protect yourself, please" Ash begged.
"Ri....RiOLUUUUUU" The blue Aura Pokemon used the last bit of his strength to protect himself, and then collapsed.
The attacks created a massive explosion, and the six pokemon lay there motionless, too confused to even fight back.
"Quick, we need to take him back to Profesor's lab. He will know what to do, as Ash picked up the injured Pokemon and rushed back to the lab, Pikachu at his heels.
Ash burst through the door. "Professor!"
Oak came walking in, "Hey Ash congratulations. Your Mother......"
"Professor! You can do that later. Now this injured Riolu needs help!"
"Quick then, bring him inside!" Oak rushed in.
After about an hour, Oak came, with a smiling Riolu by his side.
"No need to worry, the Riolu was just tired. I gave hima a healing berry, and see his condition now."
The Riolu marched u straight to Ash and clutched his leg.
"Hey Riolu what are you doing?" Ash was puzzled.
Suddenly, Ash was covered by purple mist. A strange feeling enveloped him. He could not understand it. It was......pain? Betrayal? Heartbreak? Suddenly, Ash felt a sense of relief flooding over him. He felt......peace? safety? Contentment? It was weird. Ash had never felt these things throughout his life. Yes, he had felt love, he had felt safety with his mother, but never the dark ones.
Suddenly he was jerked out of his trance. The blue glow (it was purple before, right?) faded away, and he was the professor and the pokemon staring at him, with their jaws on the ground.
"What?" Ash asked
"Wow Ashy boy, you were enveloped in a purple aura, which turned blue, and faded, while that Riolu of yours was emitting his Aura to claim you, and you break out and ask 'What'. Well done Ashy boy, I think that you just passed Arceus level of goofiness." Gary solemnly clapped.
The others cracked up, while Ash just stood there. "What do you mean by claimed"
Oak smiled, "It is a very rare phenomenon. However, I have never seen it in my life. I always thought it was some fantasy story cocked up by the elders. I am feeling privileged just to witness the claiming."
Ash was now exasperated, "But what is this claiming?"
Gary chuckled and began the story.
"So many centuries ago, there was this master called Sir Aaron, with his partner, a Lucario. The Lucario is said to have come from the mysterious Lucario Kingdom, where the Lucarios have been heard to possess a strange power to claim their trainers, instead of the other way round. So, during that time an evil group had somehow managed to capture Arceus. So Sir Aaron and one more of his comrade, Sir Hwedinger fought a hard and long battle to save Arceus. They did win after all, and Arceus, in immense gratitude, bestowed upon them and their descendants the power of Aura. Sir Aaron passed on the power to his Lucario, whereas Sir Hwedinger went away, saying that he was going on a journey to change the world. This power was passed down the generations of Lucarios, but very few have ever claimed their trainers." Gary's face became grave. "And it also said that when a Lucario claims its trainer, disaster strikes, and it brings destruction, utter destruction wherever and whenever it strikes."
Ash gulped,
Don't worry Ash, disaster will not strike for a long time from now. Ash head snapped up and went towards the Riolu.
Yes, I can talk to you due to Aura. I speak in your mind. No one can hear us. But now you need rest. Lets go home and rest. We have a long day tomorrow.
Ash was about to go home with Pikachu and Riolu occupying his both shoulders when
And one more thing Ash, the K.R.A will be an experience you will never forget.
How do you know that?
Just a feeling
It was quite late, with all of Ash's pokemon returning back to the ranch, and his mom treating the Riolu like a plush toy. Ash did not tell her about the claiming, since it will only add to her worry.
That night, the three boys (Ash, Pikachu and Riolu) crashed on the bed and slept like logs.
Whatever it was, they had to be prepared for it
