Ash simply smiled, as he walked into the brilliantly lit building, Pikachu on his shoulder.

"This, very surely, will be an interesting year."

Ash walked up to the reception, where a young lady, not more than 19 years old, with red hair flowing down to her shoulders, and wearing a pink shirt and jeans, and piercing violet eyes, greeted him with a smile.

"Hello, my name is Astoria. Are you a fresher?" She asked

"Yeah, I need to register myself and get my dorm and key." Ash informed her.

"Oh, but not so fast. First tell me your name." she booted the system embedded in her cream coloured, stone desk."

Why is everything here cream colored? Ash wondered as he said,

"My name is Ash Ketchum, and this is my partner Pikachu." He introduced

"Well, the data here says that you have not paid the premium, so you will have to wait for some time to get your keys." Astoria informed him.

"Wait, what is this 'premium'? And why do I need to wait for my key?" Ash asked. He was feeling a little twitchy. The travel taking its toll.

Astoria was flabbergasted. "You do not know of Premium!?" then afterwards, after recomposing herself, she began.

"I don't think you have read our brochure well. Do you know that the K.R.A has a 50% reservation for girls?"

"Yes."

"And do you know that every year, out of the 100 students being admitted to the K.R.A, around 80 to 85 are girls?"

"Yes, so?"

Astoria sighed

"Ten years ago, a group of rowdy boys had wreaked havoc on the campus. They harassed the girls, and also did inappropriate actions. The authorities punished them hard, but the students here generally come from multi-millionaire or royal families, so the punishment did not do any harm, to them, instead, it only made them thirsty for revenge. Also, it is a standing rule of the K.R.A that no student, who successfully gains admission into the K.R.A, can be expelled earlier than 3 years of their study."

Astoria shuddered, as if she was reliving something which should not be relived.

"They eve teased the girls, and made their lives a hell. But the trouble came when two girls left the school." Astoria said.

"Then this was the last straw, and Queen Grace would not take it anymore. The very next day, she reshuffled the troublemakers into different corners of the campus, and proclaimed that from the next academic year, every male student who gained admission into the K.R.A would have to be lodged in a hotel for a night. During that time, the female students would get to choose whether they want a male student living in the room adjacent to them, or whether at all they want more than two male students living on their floor. The responses of the girls are collected, and the arrangements are made accordingly, based on the majority opinion. After this process, a list is displayed on the screen in the main hall, where the girls get to know the boys on their floor and their room number. The authorities also proclaimed that no more than two students should be allowed on one floor, and they should not be room-mates. Their rooms are allotted far apart from each other, so that they cannot plan anything." She ended her oration with a deep breath.

Ash nodded in understanding. The K.R.A was one of the world's best schools. If someone leaves it, then something really serious would have happened.

"So, the male students do not have any say in it?" Ash asked

"Well, they kinda have....." Astoria trailed off

"What is it?" Ash asked

"Well, they pay premium. Premium is a sort of privilege which students can obtain by paying a certain fee, Premium students get to choose their floor and room, as well as roommates, if they want to."

"How much do they need to pay?" Ash was already dreading the amount.

"Err..., 100,000 pokes." Astoria replied.

BINGO!!

Ash lowered his head down. Now he was starting to feel a little self-conscious.

"Has anyone paid the premium?" Ash asked.

"Well, this year we have twelve male students, and seven of them have paid the premium." Astoria replied.

How was he going to fit in with these damn rich kids?

"H-Have the rest four arrived?" Ash shakily took out.

"Well, yes they have arrived." Astoria definitely seemed to have noticed his nervousness.

What if they are snobby?

What if they pick on him and tease him?

Should he leave?

Will he get a flight from Lumiose to Viridian

How should he reach the airport?

Will the chauffeur who drove him here help him?

He seemed like a pretty goo....

"Ash?"

"Ash!"

"ASH!!"

"PIIIKAAAACHUUUU!!!!!"

Ash was suddenly shocked out of his thoughts by none other than his mouse partner.

"Ash." Astoria spoke. "You do not need to worry. The other four who have come are commoners too. You will not be picked upon or teased, and do not worry. You will not have to go back, moreover, there are no flights from Lumiose to Viridian, and the man who drove you here needs some rest after the long drive." She smiled while adding the last part.

Ash stared at her like an idiot, Did I speak out my thoughts

Now Astoria went full out laughing, "Yes you did!"

Even Pikachu did not hesitate in adding his snickers.

Ash felt blood rushing into his ears, and the laughter did not help his face from turning tomato red.

"Wh-Whatever, p-please s-show me t-the way t-to t-the h-h-hotel." Ash stammered out.

This only coaxed out more laughter from the laughing jacks in front of him.

"Okay." Began Astoria after her laughter had subsided somewhat "Here are your hotel room keys. Don't worry, you will get your permanent room keys tomorrow, and here are the directions." She handed him a book titled...... Ash could not read it. it was some curvy gibberish written on a plain white background

"What is written here?" Ash asked.

Astoria looked at him weirdly, "You have passed the entrance exam right? You should know that it is the ancient Kalosian script and it is written 'FRESHER'S GUIDE TO THE K.R.A'."

Ash winced, why the entrance exam?

As he walked out, Astoria called out

"Hey Ash!"

"Y-yes?" He called back

"You do know that it is very difficult for commoners to enter this place right?" Astoria asked, " It is not that the rich get here easily, but for common students, the task is hundred times more daunting. The rich learn and practice with the best. The ones who teach them are the best. That is the reason they are able to crack the nut in the first place." Astoria then sighed "Even I am a senior, in my last year here. I am doing this work here as a part time job, to get a taste of how common people work. Even I am rich. My mother is the model Ella Diaz and my father is the actor Raymond Diaz."

Ash's eyes widened, "You are the Astoria Diaz." He exclaimed.

Astoria Diaz was the youngest of the Diaz family. Her family was worth billions, having their own production house, tourism company, their own airlines, fashion business, and the world-famous apparel brand 'The Diaz'. Ash loved to watch Raymond Diaz movies back when he was little, in the pokemon Centre television in Pallet town, as they did not have a connection at home. Life was simpler back then.

"This year we have had five commoners in our academy. This has not happened since a long time, at least, I have not seen it in the seven years I have been here. You do know how special you, and the other four commoners are, right?" Astoria asked, eyebrows raised

"Well...." Ash did not know what to say.

"We expect great things from you boys. You five are special, that is for sure." Astoria ended as she laid back in her chair, lost in her own thoughts.

"Y-yeah." Ash nervously laughed as he walked out into the chilly Kalosian night, the wind whipping past his and Pikachu's face, as they made their way on the deserted path to the hotel, mind filled with thoughts

"You five are special, that is for sure."

But why?

SERA'S POV

Sera briskly walked into the main hall. Her mind filled with thoughts about something, or someone

Why did that boy seem so familiar

Those z-marked cheeks

Those hazel eyes

That goofy grin

Was he him?

Serena's face immediately colored.

No, certainly not. He was a commoner

This boy is also a commoner!

Serena's blush only deepened, and her smile brightened, so much so that she started looking like a freshly bloomed rose.

Snap out of it! She ordered herself

"Hey Sera! over here!"

Sera turned towards the sound, to find herself face to face with a pale faced girl, with lemon blonde hair and wearing plain white, literally, with white shoes, a white  hooded overcoat, hiding a white skirt underneath, and white high socks. However, the most striking feature, which portrayed the intensity and dignity which she carried, were her eyes. Serena saw herself in her green cat eyes, which radiated confidence, care and a certain defiance, which proclaimed that its owner was not very fond of following rules.

"Hey Lotus." Serena greeted

Did she have to take Lotus as an alias

From behind her, an Alolan Vulpix suddenly emerged.

"Vul Vulpix!" The pokemon demanded something.

Lotus took the fluffy white pokemon in her arms

"Snowy wants to see Braixen." She said

"Oh okay. C'mon Braixen out!" Serena threw the luxury ball up.

"Brai? Braixen!" The fire pokemon was confused for a second, and then, as her eyes spotted snowy, her face immediately brightened up. Well, it was to be expected. Snowy and Braixen had known each other for more than half their life.

"Well, you did seem to be in a very serious thought. If you are afraid of revealing yourself, call me. I will just......." Lotus was cut off.

"It is not that." Sera whispered

"Then what were you thinking about?" Lotus demanded.

"A boy." Sera whispered lowly.

Lotus seemed to have been exhasperated, "Listen Serena..."

"IT'S SERA!!!!!"

"Okay Okay geez, you are loud, so as I was saying, don't go after boys. I know you find some of them cute and hot but..........."

"IT'S NOT THAT!!!!" Sera yelled, her face redder than the Sun rays retracting behind from the sky above them.

"So what is it? Please enlighten me." Lotus retorted.

Sera described the whole car trip she had with the boy 'Ash'.

"Umm... so you say that the boy looked similar to the boy who took you out of the forest in Kanto.

"Yeah, he had the same raven hair, same facial features, and the same stupid grin." Sera's cheeks brightened up just at the thought of the boy being the same one who saved her.

"Oooooooh! Serena has a crush!" Lotus teased.

"IT'S SERA! A-AND N-NO, ITS N-NOT T-THAT!" Sera's face had turned crimson for the third time that day.

"Fine , whatever helps you float your boat." She winked.

"And, to inform you in advance, you will be seeing him a lot." Lotus said.

Sera, who had composed herself somewhat, looked at her confused

"What do you mean? Why?"

Lotus showed her a sheet of paper. It was a list with the students and their room numbers.

Sera's heart started pumping hard. She could feel her temperature rising and her cheeks burning.

Ash Ketchum was to live in the adjacent room!

"Hey, he has not come yet. You can blush as you wish when he comes." Lotus teased

Sera was burning up. But suddenly a light bulb went off in her head. A sly smile formed on her lips.

"This was  about mine, but what about you? Did you forget the mahogany-haired boy who dived into the lake to pull you up, after you fell in after tripping over an Onish.

Lotus simply shrugged.

"So what, I was a kid at that time. But what do you imply by it?"

Sera's smirk only grew wider, "Oh nothing. Just telling you that coincidences can not only happen with me."

This had the desired effect.

Even from beneath the hooded cloak, Sera could make out a very slight redness spreading across the cheeks of her cousin sister.

"Whatever, lets go." Lotus dragged Sera into the dormitory, with the Sun not an inch in the sky.

A chilly wind blew around Serena, carrying to her ears a voice somewhat familiar and admired by Sera,

"But why?"
