Chapter One: Why Couldn't This Be A Normal Afternoon?
Zero was walking down a street with his friends but he felt off the whole day. Something had changed but he didn't know what had changed. "That was a crazy day man." Jax said as he was staring back at the school. "Yea, I'm amazed you weren't killed, Zero." DJD continued. Zero was silent for a moment. "Yea... same here." Zero didn't really care. He just wanted to go home and relax.
As DJD and Jax were talking to each other Zero's mind drifted from each thing that happened today. From waking up in utter pain in the morning to leaving the school. He didn't realize how long he was day dreaming until his friends said "See you tomorrow." and walked in separate directions.
He opened his door and realized his parents weren't home. They probably went grocery shopping or something. He walked to his room and tossed his backpack onto his bed. He was tired but he still felt off. But he felt like someone or something was watching him. He looked into his closet which was partially open and he seen a person with blinding white eyes.
He jumped back then the thing walked out. It was charcoal black, wearing a black turtle neck with slacks. He held a sword in one hand and another in his left. Zero tilted his head at the humanoid creature as it didn't kill him.
"Who or what are you?" Zero asked, keeping his eyes on the blades.
"You can call me Void." Void said in a whisper like voice.
Zero nodded. "What are you doing in my closet?"
"Waiting for you."
"Right. What do you want."
"I can tell you have my powers. That wasn't supposed to happen but I'll accept that." Void went off topic a little bit.
"What powers?" Zero was confused.
"Powers to bend reality to your will. Call it magic or whatever you want." Void explained.
Void perked his head up as he heard a snarl.
"Was that a dog?" Void asked.
"I don't have a dog. I have cats." Zero stated.
Void muttered something in a language that was not human. He grabbed Zero by the back of his hoodie and tossed him out the window, jumping after him. Zero cracked his head off of the hard dirt and slowly sat upwards. He seen something from his nightmares and his eyes widened.
"What the fuck?!" Zero yelled.
"Language! Now follow me and don't fall behind." Void yelled.
Zero seen people looking outside their windows, recording and laughing. Void picked Zero up on his feet and pushed him forwards, urging him to run. Zero did not hesitate. He followed Void, who was inhumanely fast and went to a river and hijacked a boat.
Great. Now I'm going to be wanted for a hijacking. Zero thought to himself. Void drove to the middle of the river and turned off the engine.
"Why are you stopping?" Zero asked, slightly panicking from the experience that had just happened.
"Those things hate water. Call it a poison to them. Kind of like Minecraft Endermen." Void answered.
Zero slowly nodded.
"Also, this is where I'm going to train you." Void continued.
Zero stood up with little to no excitement.
"It won't hurt too bad, kid." Void reassured.
"Great. Tell me how to use it." Zero muttered.
After hours of training, Zero was bruised, cut and lying on his back, coughing up a storm. The only benefit is that he knows a small bit of his powers. The useless ones unfortunately. Void helped him up and showed him a portal.
"I want you to copy this. Make a portal and you will be able to learn everything else." Void stated.
Zero nodded and tried several thousand times before he successfully made a portal. It only took a day to do so.
Zero collapsed onto the ground, feeling like he was dying. He had never put so much effort into anything in his life. Void applauded him, satisfied with his work. Was he putting to much pressure on Zero? Nah, probably not. Humans can handle more than they think.
"Can we continue Zero?" Void asked.
Zero glared at him. "Are you fucking crazy?! I almost died!"
Void sighed. "Language please. And no, you aren't even close to death. You're just exhausted. You have more energy than you think you have right now."
Zero scoffed. "Right. I totally do."
Void ignored the sarcasm that came out of Zero's mouth. He pulled Zero up on his feet and handed him a sword. A sword the he would be using for a very long time. Void pulled out his other sword and pointed it at Zero.
"What is this?" Zero asked, taking a step back for the fatally sharp point on the sword.
"More training. Sword training. You practice Kendo right?" Void asked.
"Yeah, I do. Why?" Zero asked back.
"Use the skills you learned from it to beat me." Void answered.
Zero nodded. and let Void strike first. He had a lot of power behind his swing for a skinny dude. Don't judge a book by its cover definitely applied here. Zero kept his defense up as Void kept striking, with no sign of being tired.
Zero seen a small opening and kicked Void in his side then struck with his sword. Void blocked it and pushed him off the boat. Zero hit the ice cold water and woke him up with more energy.
Zeros slowly climbed on the boat and shivered. Void chuckled. "Lets take a break for the night and continue this tomorrow."
Zero nodded, gladly taking this break for the night.
