Chapter Five: Don't you die now
Void was worried for the kid. Something about him stuck out to Void but he wasn't sure if he made a good choice in helping him realize his new powers. Void shook his head and looked at the nearby mountains, covered in snow. He didn't know what it was called but it looked nice.
He looked at the time on a clock in his room and realized he was supposed to get food for the trip ahead. Void sighed and walked outside his room to go to the nearby market.
"This is stupid. Why didn't I take him into my realm and train him there." Void muttered to himself as he kicked a rock. He checked his pockets for his wallet only to realize it was gone. Damn. It's in my room. Void thought to himself as he turned around, only to witness an explosion. His eyes widened as he realized what building it was.
"Zero!" Void yelled as he dashed towards the building, praying that the kid was still alive. He pushed rubble away to see Zero, scratched up, cut and a huge, fresh cut across his face. As Void checked his pulse, he heard a voice behind him. He looked to see a hooded figure slightly taller than Zero and the same height as Void.
"Feh. I was so pathetic back then." The person muttered.
"W- who are you?" Void asked sternly.
"The same person you're holding in you hands. Just... different."
"How? You are nothing like him."
There was a pause from the man, claiming to be Zero.
"Lets just say, there are several paths for this kid to walk down. I'm one of them. I came to tell you to stop helping him. Let him die. We both need it."
"I will not let him die! Who do you think you are? An idiot?!" Void screeched.
"Your problem. Not mine. He kills everyone he knew in the future, no matter what path he takes."
Void stared at the older Zero.
"He does?" Void paused. "Like I would believe that."
The older Zero took down his hood, proving that he was Zero.
"I do. I do kill everyone. I need you to kill him. Either now, or later. I don't need to be alive. I just hurt everyone in my future." The older Zero was starting to tear up, talking about his situation.
Void sighed. "I will change his future. I won't kill him. Not now, not ever."
Older Zero put his hood up. "Whatever. If you fail, Don't go blaming me. Blame yourself."
Then, in an instant, he was gone. Void blinked then looked at Zero. He was starting to wonder if the older Zero was actually saying the truth. He picked Zero u and opened a portal to somewhere he can properly help him...
...
"Huh? I thought you wouldn't be back till a few months?" Will said confused.
"Well, plans change. Zero needs medical help. Noting serious. Not yet I hope." Void gave Zero to Will.
"Uh- okay. I will do what I can." Will rushed off to an empty room.
Void pinched the bridge of his nose as he thought about everything that had just happened. He didn't know what to do. He closed his eyes and opened them to only return to reality after a few hours. Everyone must've been asleep since He didn't hear anything.
Void stood and entered where Zero was, to see if he was okay. His face was full of pain, just like his older self. His cut was stitched up professionally and he was also covered in bandages. Void walked away to see a shadow with horns.
It had a dark gleaming crown that was so black, it matched the darkness. It opened its mouth but an ancient language only Will understood. Void tilted his head, remembering his lessons from Will.
Void opened his mouth and spoke the same language somehow.
"What are you?" Void asked.
"Something."
"That's not helpful at all."
"Too bad."
"Give me details man."
"You want details? Follow me."
Void had no other choice but to follow it. He left his house and followed the humanoid creature as it wandered about.
"How long will this walk be?" Void asked, losing his patience.
"Long enough for you to realize how long it will be."
"Where are you taking me anyway?"
"Somewhere important to me."
Void sighed, deciding to continue following the creature.
...
Zero woke up to a startle. He fell out of his bed, hurting himself in the process. He tried to stand but fell back down. His body was at its limit. He found a random stick and pushed himself up, straining his body. He leaned on the stick as he stumbled around.
He found a new set of clothes in a bag with his name on it. He opened it and tossed his new clothes on. It was a white dress shirt with white shorts. A decent pair of clothes, It's kind of nice. Zero thought to himself.
Zero looked at his surroundings. He didn't have a clue on where he was. He looked out a nearby window and all he seen was darkness. everything about this place seems friendly but his mind was screaming: Danger.
He shivered. He walked to the front entrance and stepped outside. He soon realized he was in the twilight. Zero sighed with relief, knowing he was in a safe area. He walked back inside and his head had a sudden shock of pain.
Zero fell to the ground, vision black. Zero thought he was dead until his vision came back. He had no idea what happened. He covered his eyes. Why was his eyes acting up? He blinked a few times until he felt normal again.
"You okay?" Will asked as he walked down the stairs.
"I think. I'm still in some pain." Zero answered, not mentioning the problem with his eyes.
"Okay. Y'know where Void headed to?"
"No. I thought he was in the house."
"Strange. He never leaves without mentioning something."
Zero nodded. He didn't know what to do. He still had wounds from Rewrite. But he wasn't sure where he got burn marks, scattered across his body. Will walked to a nearby chair and sat down.
"You need rest."
"I need to go find Void, Will. I'm not resting till I find him."
"Fine, go kill yourself. This place isn't as safe as it seems."
Zero stopped in his tracks. "What do you mean by that?"
"Nothing. If you get killed, it's not my problem."
Zero had a sense of dread coursing through his body. Is there really something out there? Whatever it is, it would be able to kill him with ease in the condition Zero is in. Zero shrugged, acting like an idiot, and went searching for Void..
...
Zero was tired when he found Void. Void turned around and groaned. "Why are you here? You should be resting." Void snapped.
"I'm fine. For now."
The creature with Void said something and Void responded with a disagreeing tone in his voice. Void shook his head as he turned around.
"What are you doing out here Void?" Zero questioned.
"I should be asking you the same thing."
Zero looked around the ruins. It looked more like a cemetery than anything else. He was confused on what that creature was standing next to Void. Then Zero realized the creature was a spirit.
"I'll let you do you. I'm going home. I'm just in your way." Zero muttered.
Void twirled around, only to see a portal closing. Void cursed and looked down. Where was he supposed go? He had no home now. It was destroyed. "Damn that kid is dumb." Void muttered as he thought about things.
...
Zero popped into existence in a market. He had no idea where he was at. All he knew was that he was in Canada. He walked around and realized he was close to his house. Zero left the store as he seen something he recognized. He knew what it was but he didn't have any control on his movements.
It was pitch black. Like a deep cave, you couldn't see anything it had with it. Zero tried to move but he wasn't able to. Fear was keeping him stuck in place.
"W- what do you want?" Zero asked the creature, walking towards him.
When it was right beside him it finally spoke. "Your death, young child. The powers you currently have, they aren't yours to use."
Zero had grabbed a stick. Not like it was going to do much but it would hopefully keep the thing distracted for a moment.
"Now, give me your powers, or suffer the consequences."
Zero finally got the courage to move and he struck the thing in the side of its head. After that, Zero started to run and find a better weapon.
"A metal pipe? That could work." Zero muttered as he picked up the pipe.
He heard the footsteps of the creature, running towards him. He had knew this was the end. He turned the around, swung the pipe and the creature grabbed it, kicked him in the chest and was knocked out cold...
