How The Corruption Spread
Scott's Perspective
Scott woke up and grumbled out of bed.
I guess I should do something here today. Scott thought. That way I don't bother anyone.
Scott got dressed, unlocked his door, and walked out to the village. He was planning on updating his meeting room, but today had other things planned for him.
Scott walked out into the village and immediately had multiple farmer villagers run up to him.
"Is something wrong?" Scott asked.
The farmers bowed and then said, "There's a problem in the wheat farms."
"Is the iron golem stomping on the crops again?" Scott sighed.
"No, it's something else. Something with the corruption."
Scott was shocked, "Show me."
Scott followed the farmers, worried. All I wanted was to have a normal day.
Scott saw corrupt plants in the place of wheat. There were also little ponds of fire instead of water.
"We don't know how it got here, Prince Scott. It was like this when we woke up. Along with the crystals and tentacles." One of the farmers said.
Crystals and tentacles?
Scott looked around, and sure enough, there were giant red tentacles all around his enchanting tower and Rivendell. There were also purple crystals filled with lava above all the important buildings. One over his wheat field, two over the village, one over his house, the enchanting tower, and the statue of Aeor.
Xornoth could break those at any second and Rivendell will be consumed by lava.
Scott looked back at the wheat field and sighed.
"Please get me seeds, a hoe, and a shovel." Scott told two of the farmers. They nodded and set off.
"Could you please get five buckets full of water?" The last farmer nodded as well and ran off towards the lake.
I'm not even ruler yet. Scott sighed.
-
After Scott fixed the wheat field, he was planning on going back to his home and talking to his parents.
I need to tell them about the corruption. My birthday is in 3 weeks, so I'll be getting the crown soon.
Scott turned around and saw Katherine flying to his kingdom.
OH, COME ON!
Scott thought about running but changed his mind at the last minute.
"Scott! I need to talk to you." Katherine said, landing next to Scott.
"What do you want." Scott said, death staring Katherine.
"Look, I'm really sorry. I understand what I was doing wrong. Just thinking that I knew exactly what you were talking about."
Scott's anger softened and he said, "It's okay, Katherine. Really. I'm sorry for shouting at you."
Katherine smiled and hugged Scott.
"We need to talk though." Katherine said.
"About what?" Scott asked, letting go of Katherine.
"About what happened yesterday."
Scott flushed pink and said, "Let's go inside."
-
"So you feel like you put him in danger."
Scott nodded. He just finished telling Katherine what had happened.
"Anyone who I care about is in immediate danger."
Scott then realized,
"You need to leave!" He shouted.
"What? Why?" Katherine asked.
"You- you're in danger too. By helping me. You're now going to be a target for Xornoth."
"No, it's okay. I have guards."
"It's not okay! Please... it's too dangerous. After he's gone, we can talk again, but I need to be isolated." Scott's breath started to get faster.
"Being isolated is just going to make you worse."
"LEAVE!" Scott shouted with rage; he felt the cold rush around him.
"How did you do that?" Katherine asked.
Scott opened his eyes, "What do you-"
He stopped, amazed at what he had seen. There were multiple sharp icicles pointing at Katherine.
"I didn't know I could do that." Scott said, looking at his hands.
Katherine lifted her hands, surrendering, "I'll leave okay."
Before Scott could apologize, Katherine had left.
The icicles disappeared a little bit after Katherine was gone.
I just... what? Is this some kind of Aeor thing? Scott was confused. Why me. Why is everything going wrong. First Xornoth, then Jimmy, and now I have ice magic, no friends, and no idea how to get rid of the corruption.
Scott fell on the floor, crying.
Three Weeks Later
Scott decided to return his book today.
"I never actually found anything with me and Xornoth in it." Scott said to himself while picking up the book of prophesies.
Scott flipped through the book once more and saw that there was a page about brothers.
'Brotherly souls trapped in an endless battle since the beginning of time, chaos and order, light and dark, hot and cold. One cannot exist without the other, for if one soul dies, the other is sure to follow.'
Interesting. Scott thought.
I mean, I do somewhat have ice magic. And Xornoth does have a lot of red corruption.
Scott was silent. I guess it is me and Xornoth. But... 'if one soul dies, the other is sure to follow.'
There was a knock on his door.
"Come in." Scott said.
Lumi opened the door and bowed.
"The day has finally come, Prince- or should I say, King Scott."
Scott laughed nervously and hid his book.
"Your mother and father would like to see you before the ceremony. All of the other emperors will be here."
"Thanks Lumi. I'll be down in a second."
"They want you down now. We're on a tight schedule."
"...okay."
Scott followed Lumi downstairs and was welcomed by hugs from his mom.
"Are you excited? This is a huge day for Rivendell."
Scott only nodded.
"Don't worry, you'll do great." His father said, putting a hand on Scott's shoulder.
"If you don't mind me warning you, we only have an hour until guests will start arriving." Lumi said, bowing.
"Let's get breakfast, then we can go outside to greet everyone." His mom said, leading him to the dining room.
Scott didn't eat much that morning. He was too nervous.
"You have to eat something. At least some French toast." His mom said.
"Okay." Scott sighed, cutting up the food.
"It seems like something is on your mind. Do you want to talk about it?" His dad asked.
Scott looked up to his dad and froze.
Should I tell him? Will he understand? "I'm just nervous about the ceremony." Yeah! That's it. Tomorrow all the nerves will be gone. Everything will be fine.
"You'll do great, now hurry up and finish eating. We only have a couple minutes for our guests."
-
Scott was looking in the church of Aeor. All the guests were flooding the seats.
Scott was outside of the huge church doors, accompanied by his mom.
"You look great." His mom said, patting Scott on the shoulder. He was wearing royal Rivendell attire, but it's only worn on special occasions, such as the ceremony of the crown, or a wedding.
Katherine walked through the doors, followed by Gem and fWhip.
His mom left him and his friends to go stand by his father who was at the other end of the church.
"You look so cute!" Katherine said, hugging Scott.
As much as Scott pushed his friends away, he missed hanging out with them.
Scott felt a tear run down his face.
"Stop it, Katherine! You're ruining his make-up by making him cry!" fWhip said, laughing and pulling Katherine away from Scott.
Scott smiled. The corruption was getting worse, and he wasn't seeing his friends anymore, let alone talk to them. So having all of friends here, supporting him, was... well let's just say he missed it.
Gem peeked open the doors and then said, "Scott, it's your cue."
Scott's nerves spiked up.
"Deep breaths Scott, you'll do great." fWhip said. Then he and Gem left.
"Scott. I know that you don't want to talk to any of us anymore because of Xornoth, but I want you to know that after Xornoth, we'll talk every day. Our friendship will never fall." Katherine said.
Scott smiled, "Thanks Katherine. That means a lot to me. And I'm sorry I pushed you away, I'm just worried about you."
Katherine smiled, kissed Scott on the cheek, and left.
Scott took a deep breath and walked into the church.
Everyone stared at Scott as he walked past, but he didn't meet anyone's stares.
Scott made a quick glance at Jimmy, and saw him... blushing? Don't look at Jimmy. Ignore him. He rejected you anyway.
Scott took another deep breath and walked up to his mom and dad.
The Rivendell crown was in between Scott and his parents.
"Ladies and gentlemen! Thank you all for coming to this special day! Not only is it time for us to pass down our crown, but it is also Scott's birthday!" Scott's dad said.
The hall erupted with claps and cheers.
His dad raised his hand, and silence fell almost instantly.
"Scott, please come up."
Scott walked over to his parents.
His mom picked up the crown and turned to Scott. Tears ran down her face.
Scott bowed to his mom, and when he stood back up, she placed the crown on his head.
A flash of white, yellow, and blue light shown.
Scott opened his eyes and saw the whole crowd standing up, cheering and clapping once more.
Scott had folded out his wings, his gold deer horns on top of his head along with the crown.
Scott smiled nervously.
I don't know how I should feel right now. Happy? Nervous? Calm?
"Scott, would you like to make a speech?" His mom asked.
Scott nodded and stepped into the middle of the stage.
Everyone was staring at him.
Scott's heart pace started getting faster and faster.
"I would like to start by thanking everyone for coming."
Scott was interrupted by clapping.
"I, Scott Major, am now the King of Rivendell. I will do everything I can to make sure that everyone is happy and safe. So I will be spending most of my time now, trying to stop Xornoth."
People started whispering and murmuring, but Scott continued.
"As some of you may know, I am Xornoth's brother. But that won't mean that I'll forgive him easily. He has ruined our towns and has been causing chaos everywhere. It is my job to restore peace and order here in Rivendell."
Scott paused; he started fidgeting with his purple ring.
"Please tell me when you see corruption, because I will put a stop to it."
The crowd clapped.
-
"Wow, Scott! That was really good!" Katherine said, walking up to him.
"But are you sure you want to tell everyone about Xornoth?" Gem asked.
"It's too late now." Scott said, taking a sip from his water.
There was an afterparty and Scott was spending the time talking with friends.
"Here comes Jimmy." Katherine whispered to Scott.
Scott turned around, and sure enough, Jimmy was walking up to them.
"Hey Scott!" Jimmy said.
"Hey Jimmy." Scott said, nervously.
"Hey Gem, I needed to talk to fWhip about a trade, and since you're his sister, can you help me persuade him for making it?" Katherine asked.
"Sure." Gem shrugged.
The girls then disappeared into the crowd.
"Look Scott. I'm sorry for bothering you about that-"
"It's fine." Scott cut Jimmy off, "And I'm sorry for telling you that I..."
"No, it's okay!"
"You don't have to lie to me. I know you rejected me. Our dreams were just... dreams. Stupid imaginations of what we want to happen." Scott turned away.
Jimmy grabbed Scott's hand and turned him around. "You're right."
Scott looked to the ground.
"The dreams are what we want to happen." Jimmy said.
Scott looked up to Jimmy, blushing.
"I wanted to know who 'petal' was. And you wanted to..."
"I wanted to be with you." Scott said.
"And it turns out, your 'petal'!"
"But we don't remember that!" Scott said, frustrated.
"Well, let's start over. Forget about that past. Be together because we want to be, not because that's what happened."
Scott noticed that Jimmy was blushing too.
"Are you sure?" Scott asked.
Jimmy was silent.
And before Scott could ask Jimmy if anything was wrong,
Jimmy kissed him.
Scott was surprised but kissed back.
