| Chapter 2: A Weird Kind Of Thing

-

Later on, I found Gaz trying to punch every kid within reach. Luckily, I stopped her before she could severely hurt someone. “Don’t worry, your games are safe now. No need to throw someone off the roof or whatever..” “Oh, thanks. Where did you find the thief?” Gaz questioned. “Why do you want to know, exactly?” I sassed back. “No reason, just for future reference.” “Well, I was near the janitor’s closet and saw that kid sitting on the floor playing games. When he noticed me, I gave him a threat or two and took back what wasn’t his.” I purposely left out the shock part, because I didn’t see it as that important.

Gaz was silent for a while and had an obviously deadly look in her eyes (I could tell, even if she does squint them). "Perfect. I have just enough time after school to jump 'em," She gave me a small smile and walked to class. I wouldn't wanna be around when that happens.

The bell screamed at us to get to class with its loud ring. Thankfully, It didn't take me long to get there.

As the teacher went on about how we are all gonna die a painful death, I wrote down my plans for a project I've been working on. Peace Day is right around the corner, and I have no time to waste. However, when I finally looked up from my notebook, I noticed that the seat right next to me was empty. 'Hm. I haven't actually noticed Dib was gone. I wonder what happened to him. Then again, Zim isn't here either, which is pretty weird. I know they had some sort of rivalry going on, but why risk getting fined for not going to school?' I questioned.

I don’t know why I’m getting into this. It’s not my business.

I scrapped that theory introduction and continued my work. I want to try and build a robot for Peace Day. I call this project, ‘P-H72’. So far, I have all of the materials needed for the robot. All I have to do now is learn how to script, and then I’ll be done.

Time went by fast, and school was over. Finally, now I can get to my room. I walked back home and grasped the copper doorknob. ‘I really hope that they aren’t still arguing,’ I thought to myself. It’s been 6 hours, it should be fine, right?

I’m definitely wrong, aren’t I?

I opened the door and heard nothing. Huh. This never happened before. Usually, someone would be sitting at the table, even if there wasn’t any arguing going on, but nobody’s here. I slowly closed the door behind me and walked to my room. “Mom? Dad? Is anyone home?” I called out. Still nothing.

The lights flickered and eventually turned off. “Oh great. Just what I needed right now.” I tried to find a flashlight so I could fix the power. I couldn’t see that well, because it was already starting to get dark outside. I held something in my hand that had the shape and weight of a mini emergency flashlight, and pressed a button. No light came out of it. I tried several times just to make sure, and then it gave out a pink light. I don’t mind. It might just be a toy, but the light is very powerful, so I’m not complaining about it.

I went to the power box (I don’t know what the thing is actually called) and switched on the power for the house. After a few seconds, the white-yellow light that I’m used to flickered back on. I looked at my hand to see what I used as a flashlight and saw my fidget toy that’s (kinda) shaped like a game controller. I just stared at it and had an intense conversation with myself.

‘What the…? How did I use this as a flashlight? How was the light so powerful? Why was the light-‘ I stopped. The light was pink, just like that shock from school. ‘What is going on? Am I having a stroke or something?’ I put my hands on the sides of my head. I might be imagining this, but why would it happen twice in the same day? I decided to just get some sleep. I walked to my room and changed into my PJs and fell on my bed. It’s early, but I can’t keep believing that something is wrong with me.

> 5:52 PM, After the 2 hour nap

I woke up in a cold sweat. This normally happens when the heat is at a mild level. I stretched and hopped off my bed, bored of sitting around. ‘When I came in here, I don’t think anyone else was with me. I’ll make sure everything is ok.’ Before I could even touch my phone to call anyone, I made a trip to my parents’ bedroom. I knocked 3 times.

No answer. I should have expected that. I tried the game room, knocked 3 times, and got no response. I finally decided to head downstairs to see what was going on down there, and saw my dad laying on the couch. ‘He must be drunk then. He has too much energy when he gets alcohol in his system. I’m just glad he doesn’t hurt us, unlike some fathers.’ I heard mom humming a song in the kitchen and peaked behind the wall.

“Oh, hey there dear! Sorry we weren’t here when you got home. We went grocery shopping and got caught in a long line that some green kid held up. I’m sure nothing went wrong, right?” My mother spoke. I didn’t want to remind myself about the lights, so I didn’t tell her about it. “Nothing’s wrong. I fell asleep when I got back from school.” It wasn’t a complete lie, I did sleep for most of the day. "Okay, then. Dinner is almost ready, so make sure to get ready for school tomorrow."

 "Okay."
