Chapter 9
Third Person POV
Plan seemed to be right about his thinking that Mean might have been traumatized enough by the "bed" incident because after he stepped out of the bathroom he kept pretty much to himself.
Plan started to question himself whether he had been too rough on him earlier. He really had just wanted to teach him a lesson so that Mean would stop provoking him.
By noontime, Plan's stomach started to grumble. He had brought some quick fix meals with him but he wasn't really too much into processed foods.
He preferred to cook dishes from natural ingredients and not dishes from cans or boxes that contained preservatives.
He decided to go out and explore the area where their building was located. Maybe he could find some supermarket or store nearby that carried fresh produce.
"I'm going out to buy some stuff from the supermarket," said Plan, speaking to Mean for the first time since the "incident".
"Is there a supermarket close by?" asked Mean.
"I don't know," said Plan, "I'm going to explore this area."
"Can I come with you?" asked Mean.
"Umm..." Plan hesitated to answer.
"If we're going to the same place, we might as well use just one car," said Mean, "I will pay for the gas."
"It's not about the gas," said Plan, "I don't know how long I'm gonna be out and you might be in a hurry to come back."
"I don't have anything planned for the rest of the day," said Mean, "you can take as long as you want. It's just, I was thinking, the less cars on the road the better for the environment."
"I'm perfectly fine with that idea," said Plan, pleasantly surprised that Mean was an environmentalist.
P'New was right, you only get to really know a person's character if you live in close proximity with him for a period of time.
For some reason, he started to feel a soft spot for Mean. Maybe if he and Mean made some extra efforts here and there, they just might learn to live in harmony after all.
"Let's go then," said Plan, grabbing his car key.
"Give me a chance to shut down my computer," said Mean.
"Sure," said Plan, "while you're doing that I will just quickly use the bathroom."
"Are you ready, Mean," asked Plan after he stepped out of the bathroom
"Yes, let's go," said Mean, after taking a quick look at his hair in the full length mirror on the wall just beside his closet.
When they passed by the reception desk, Mean and Plan stopped by to hand over their electronic key cards to the receptionist for safekeeping until their return.
The receptionist gave them a friendly smile, but gave Plan a particularly warm smile.
"You never told me your name," said Plan, smiling back at her.
"It's Debbie," the receptionist said, holding out her hand which Plan took and shook warmly.
"You can call me Plan," he said, "if you need anything, my contact number is in your file."
Both Debbie and Plan did not notice Mean rolling his eyes upward.
'What a natural flirt this guy was' Mean thought, mentally shaking his head, and then checked himself. There was no reason to get upset over Plan's flirting. He could flirt with anyone he wanted.
It was none of Mean's business.
