Chapter 10
Third Person POV
"You got a cool car," said Mean after he settled himself on the passenger seat beside Plan.
"Thanks," said Plan, "but it's not as spacious as yours. Your car could carry more girls than mine."
Mean rolled his eyes upward. "Are girls all you can think about?" he asked.
"Pretty much," Plan replied with a laugh.
"What are you thinking of buying at the supermarket?" asked Mean.
"Some vegetables and fruits and assorted seafood," said Plan, "I'm not too much into pork or chicken or beef."
After Plan had driven for about fifteen minutes, Mean said, "I can see a supermarket up ahead, but it's to our left. We will have to look out for a lane that will let us make a left turn."
After a short while, Mean said, "I can see one just before the traffic light. Put your turn signal on."
"Mean, stop being a back seat driver," said Plan, "Leave me to do the driving."
Mean laughed. "It's hard being a quiet passenger when you are a driver yourself. You tend to project your driving habits onto the other driver. I always plan my course of action long before I do it."
"Fine with me," said Plan, "just do it to another driver, not me."
Mean laughed again.
Plan remembered someone's quote: "When you hear people laughing, you can rest easy. It means that they are not trying to kill each other."
Plan did the left turn successfully and entered the supermarket parking lot.
Since it was noon time, there were a lot of people doing their shopping and Plan had to drive around the parking lot looking for an empty parking space.
After a few minutes, he noticed a car backing out of a parking space.
He stopped and waited for the car to drive away.
He was about to swerve into the just vacated parking spot when Mean placed a hand over his hand on the steering wheel.
"Don't do it,"said Mean.
"Why not???" asked Plan, feeling a little upset over Mean's intervention.
"There's a driver who has been waiting ahead of us to take that spot. Don't do to him what you did to me last time. He might honk at you and give you the finger," said Mean, obviously trying to hide a smile.
Plan had the grace to blush.
"You just won't let me hear the end of it, huh?" he said, punching Mean lightly on his arm.
He drove around some more, and finally found an empty spot almost near the end of the parking lot, far away from the supermarket entrance. They would have to walk some distance but walking was always a good exercise.
They walked towards the entrance, pulling out a grocery cart from a designated area in between a row of parking spots along the way.
They took the handle of the grocery cart at the same time, Plan's hand landing on top of Mean's.
"Sorry," said Plan, quickly moving his hand away from Mean.
Why was he suddenly feeling awkward.
He started humming a song to take away the feeling of awkwardness.
"I didn't know you were a Bruno Mars fan," Mean smiled, "I am, too."
"Finally," said Plan, "one thing in common between us."
"Let's shake on it," said Mean, holding out his hand to Plan.
Plan took it, feeling some kind of mild electricity shooting through his veins.
