Chapter 3 - Misunderstanding

About two months later, I went back to the doctor and he said, my eyes have healed and I was allowed to take off the bandages. When I got home, I took off the bandages, but I refused to open my eyes.

I've already seen what this world has to offer. I don't want to see the experience the humans have to show me. I want these eyes to stay close forever. I don't ever want to see another human again. I... I don't think I can face reality.

I'm scared.

The next few days, I navigated my way around the house. I did my daily chores as usual until I got to the fridge. I felt around and noticed I was low on food. "I should go now before the store closes." I said to myself.

I left my house and went to the store. I was too tired to leap off rooftops today, so I decided to just walk. "Hey, there it is!" My ears twitched in curiosity, making me stop in my tracks.

"That's the thing that's been leaping off rooftops and watching over the village like we're its prey! Somebody hurry up and kill it!" I recognized the voice as it was the same woman I fell on a couple months back.

"Huh?" I tilted my head in confusion. 'What gave her that idea? I've only been leaping off of rooftops because it's easier to get by. Are humans really that stupid and too quick to judge? Apparently so.' I thought.

"Ouch!" I yelped when something was thrown at my head. "What was that for?! I didn't do anything!" I yelled at them. "Get out of our village, ugly beast!" A villager yelled. "You got it all wrong! This is just a misunderstanding!" I tried reasoning with them.

An empty soda can hit my head and some other random stuff were thrown at me. I shielded myself from the throwing objects until a scent caught my nose. I sniffed the air and found some ANBU Black Ops nearby.

Aren't they seeing this? Why don't do something about it? Why are they letting these people hurt me? "Just listen to me! I don't understand why you're doing this! I haven't done anything!" I yelled. But it was pointless trying to reason with them when they weren't even listening to me.

All they really cared about was hurting me and making me leave. I couldn't take the abuse anymore as I ran off. I ran on my hands and feet to run faster. "You there! Stop running!" I heard an ANBU Black Op yell. They're following me.

What are they gonna do once they catch me? I don't think I wanna find out. I ran on my hands and feel so I could get away faster. I continued to run until I skidded to a stop. Was there nowhere to run?

Even if I could escape them, where would I go? Where will I be safe? "Don't move!" I turned around as I felt three of the ANBU Black Ops surrounding me. I could hear their footsteps as they slowly and cautiously approached me.

"Easy kid. Don't make this any harder than it has to be." One of them said. "How much harder can this possibly get?" I asked, frowning. I could feel them getting closer, so began to take a steps back.

"Stay away from me!" I snapped as I continued to step back. "Wait, stop!" I heard them warn. But I didn't heed their warning as I felt my foot give away. I gasped, then screamed when I fell backwards until I landed in water.

I expected it to be a pond or a small body of water, but the current was too strong as I felt my body being carried away. My head would go under the water, nearly drowning me. I coughed and sputtered as I cried out for help.

I don't know how long this kept up. But at some point, I couldn't take it anymore and I blacked out, letting the current take me to wherever.

I started to regain consciousness as I coughed up water, but I felt too weak to get up. The current from the water drained all my energy. Just where am I? The air smells different and the ground felt off. Meaning, it wasn't the dirt I was used to.

I smelled someone's presence as they were standing right in front of me. "Is someone there? Who are you?" I called, softly. I waited for them to answer, but they didn't.

I didn't want to open my eyes to see who it was because I already knew it was a human and I already clarified that I didn't want to see another human's face for the rest of my life. Were they staring at me? Why won't they speak?

I know I couldn't have been in front of a statue because statues don't have the scent of a human. Only stone. Basically, statues don't have a scent at all. I laid my head back down on the ground as I didn't have the energy to stay awake.
