Previously on How Did We Get Here?

Eric does the video show them the scene play out from a different angle then the hooded looks directly in the camera.

"No way" Eric and Nell say baffled.

"What the Fuck" Sam says in disbelief

"Mother Fucker" Callen breaths

"No, No it can't be him, he wouldn't Kensi almost shouts.

Granger looks at the team feeling sorry for them, "We only have 24hs before the case is handed over to the FBI!"

Deeks walks to a close cafe before phoning OPS with a burner phone.

"Hello" Eric's voice answers.

"Put me on speaker phone" Eric does.

"Listen before you say anything I'm sorry okay I loved working with you but I never felt like one of the group but my girlfriend she pointed me in the right direction I realised that the navy and the wars it fights are pointless why protect this country when the only people destroying it are Americans."

"Eric I know you've almost traced this but I need more time..." Deeks hangs up with the team standing in shock in what they just heard about their friend and team mate.

Granger snaps them out of it, "Find Deeks, quickly!"

The team look at each other before heading out and going to one of the NCIS standard SUV's. They start at Deeks' house.

They search his house and find empty but with more stuff like someone else had been staying there.

"His girlfriend we need to find out who it is" Callen says

Kensi guides the team to his favourite surfing spot just as they turn up Eric rings them.

"Yeah Eric what is it?"

"Deeks' girlfriend is Georgia Bell she works in administration her and Deeks have been going out from what I can tell just under two months"

Callen thanks Eric then hangs up.

"That's when he came back to work and started to act strange" Kensi informs.

They all climb out of the SUV and start the search for Deeks, Sam and Callen go one way and Kensi goes the other. Kensi keeps an eye out for a shaggy blond haired surfer who she had once lov... liked, once liked.

When she spots Deeks he is hugging who she can only guess is Georgia, Deeks spots Kensi and pulls Georgia behind him before pulling his gun at the same time as Kensi.

Kensi and Deeks just stare at each other not saying a word until Kensi breaks it.

"Martin Deeks and Georgia Bell you're under arrest."

"Hey Kensi," Deeks looks at his girlfriend "Georgia this is Kensi Blye my partner"

"Ex-Partner I'm not partners with a murderer!" Exclaims Kensi

"It wasn't murder it was justice." Deeks states calmly then places his gun on the floor kisses Georgia then gets on his the floor with his hands on his head, Georgia in the same position, Sam and Callen arrive just as they surrender.

Hand cuffing the couple Sam and Callen drag them towards the SUV.

The drive to the boat shed was quiet the only noise coming from the humming of the engine. Once at the boat shed they put the couple in separate interrogation rooms, Deeks is the main pitcher on the monitor the three agents still shocked that Deeks killed someone in cold blood.

Without saying it to the two men Kensi walks into the interrogation room.

She sits down not saying a word, they just look at each other neither looking away.

"Kensi listen these past few weeks have been hard you know but then again you probably don't, that's okay..."

"Deeks" Kensi says leaning forward, "you know how this works first one to speak gets the deal, we have you on camera as well as your girlfriend, so spill or you go to prison your choice."

"I'm not going to prison" Deeks says confidently

"What makes you say that, we have you on tape there is no way you get away with this you betrayed this team and me!" for the first time since his arrest there was a slip in his confidence a chink in the armor as Deeks realises what he did to the team and that hits him hard.

"I... I am sure because once I cut a deal you won't send me to prison I know too much about the team, LAPD and NCIS." Kensi leans back and looks at the man she thought she knew.

"We can pull strings, call in favors. We will make you pay for what you did to us and the agency!"

Kensi stands up and leans on the table,

"We will put you in solitary and you will drive yourself crazy or we can put you in general population with all the people YOU put away either way it's not nice to you however we could help you, you know that and to be honest I'm not sure you would even reach prison especially considering the people you've pissed off."

"Okay."

"Okay, what?"

"Okay as in I will help you give you the organisation I work for." Kensi feels sad that everything they thought about Deeks was wrong and he is a traitor but she doesn't let it show so she waits expectantly.

"The organisation I work for is large and has a lot of influence in government, they carry a lot of weight and have excellent teams who can intimidate, manipulate blend and kill. The kind of people you don't want to cross one of the bosses is the most methodical person she has respect and even people above her are scared. Like I said you don't want to cross them."

"We need the name of the organisation."

"I can't, if I do I will be killed no matter what prison or how much you 'protect' me I will be killed"

"You should have thought about that before you got into bed with these guys"

"I didn't know and saying there name is a death sentence I'm sorry but you've got no more leverage over me throw me in prison, get Callen to contact some Russians, I don't care."

Before Kensi can reply she gets an order from Granger to withdraw from the interrogation over coms. She walks out and glares at Granger.

"Why the Hell did you pull me out!"

Granger looks at the team not explaining anything. He unlocks the interrogation room and then speaks into the coms of the interview room,

"Detective."

Deeks' get up and leaves the Interrogation room.

The team were about to throw obscenities at Granger when Deeks stands next to him with a shy smile. The three agents were on one side of the table while Deeks and Granger are on the other.

"This is a long story you might want to sit down"

"When I was in hospital Granger came to visit, told me to go to his office once I started back at work. So I did...

Two Months Ago.

Deeks arrives at work early and drops his bag on his desk, then heads to Grangers office and knocks on the door.

"Come in Detective, sit down. I have a job for you we need to catch a serial killer, who has been killing Navy personal but you can't tell anyone even your partner. Are you in!?"

"What do I need to do?" Deeks says without even a second thought.

"I suspect an employee in the building of being the serial killer, she works in administration. You will need to befriend her and how you do that is going to be hard. Detective you will need be deceptive and act like you hate the Navy, NCIS and your team. You can't tell anyone not even your partner, this killer has evaded us for long enough and you're the best person for the job."

Present Day... (++ means present day)

"After he told me that when I came back out I had to start, so I didn't answer personal questions and made loads of trips to the admin department to see the target and gain her trust. At first it was mindless flirting then we went to lunch and she was asking me all types of questions..."

"So Deeks do you enjoy what you do it must be hard?"

"I guess I do, it is challenging and I enjoy putting criminals behind bars but I would like to work somewhere else, ya know."

"What makes you want to change you seem to work well with them."

"I used to but then I realised that they are not like who they seem, they think their better than everyone else and can't accept a detective as an equal, but this is our first date lets no get annoyed at the people who employ us..."

"...I had planted that seed in her mind that made her think I didn't like the Navy or you guys."

"To be honest Deeks we all believed you, we thought you were in trouble before it became apparent that you weren't. That you seemed to change, well done Deeks you did a good job of fooling us and Georgia Bell."

"Guys I just want to let you know this job is great and working with you is better than being a cop. Georgia was starting to believe me and bit by bit, she let me in on her thoughts and eventually her plan but before that Granger and I went over her file and figured out how she kills the Navy personal. It was the catching that she loved then it was the killing, problem was she went to bars to pick the victims and we had no way of telling out of the 100s of Navy bars which on it would be so Granger put in place a team of men and women from different agency's all dressed in Navy uniforms. So when I found out the location a team was sent in and over took the bar, this meant that if she picked up anyone it would be an agent."

"Clever she doesn't know who she's picking up is pretending to be drunk and is in fact an agent."

"Yeah, like you saw on the video."

"But what about the guy you shot."

"Well it was all part of the plan...

Georgia and Deeks makes their way towards the bar but Deeks asks her if they can stop so he can a shot of something, she of course agrees but while she's distracted Deeks sends a message to Granger where they will be, Granger texts back telling Deeks to turn up in 20 minutes.

"You ready to go now?"

"Yeah let's go."

They jump back in the car and Deeks takes a couple wrong turns,

"Deeks what are you doing,"

"Sorry babe but I just had to do this." Deeks leans over the console and smashes his lips into hers, Georgia takes a second before she kisses him back they stay like that, kissing and caressing for 10 mins,

"Deeks..." Georgia says out of breath. "Deeks we need to go we can finish this at home later promise."

Deeks does as he's told and heads to the bar, with their little detour they arrive half hour later. Georgia goes over the plan and leaves Deeks in the car while she goes a gets there victim. Deeks has half an hour to wait but when he sees Georgia he springs into action.

As he walks up to her she is lip locked with what looks like a sailor, so Deeks pulls the guy of and gives him a subtle nod then beats him but with only half his strength but the 'sailor' reacts like Deeks hit him properly.

The 'sailor' then pretends that he is passed out, so Deeks then heads back to the car with Georgia

Georgia walks around Deeks and gets in the car. Deeks opens the car door to get in but Georgia stops him.

"Marty shoot him, he saw your face"

"He won't remember lets go,"

"Shoot him!" Georgia all but shouts before batting her eyes at him "Just to be safe"

Georgia hands Deeks a 22. Pistol with a silencer. Deeks takes the weapon and feels the weight before walking over to the 'sailor', who is starting to come around. Having planned in advance all the agents where wearing bulletproof vests. Deeks takes aim and...

"I aimed the gun at the 'sailors' face but I timed my shot right as the 'sailor' had fake blood packs I shot one of them and it looked like I shot him, the 'sailor' reacted in the way I expected so I shot him again to make it realistic but again on a fake blood pack."

"Georgia has no idea you were playing her?" Kensi asks

"No I think she believes she has found someone she can kill with, problem is I shot the 'sailor' not her so we need a confession or she won't go down for murder."

"Okay so how do you want to play this Sam and I, Kensi."

"I was thinking more me, look she trusts me I can get her to speak."

With no protests, Deeks makes his way upstairs he slaps on some hand cuffs and is forced into the room by another NCIS agent who removes the handcuffs.

"Marty..."

"Georgia, are you okay?"

"I'm better now but what are we going to do I thought you said let them arrest us as they have nothing but why are we still here?"

"Unfortunately they can hold us for 24h but they have nothing."

"Okay Marty I trust you."

"Good because I need you too, babe I need to know all the details everything of anything you've done and anyone you've done it with."

Georgia stands suddenly,

"WHAT! WHY?"

"Baby, listen, sit down. Babe please, you just said you trust me right" Georgia does as Deeks says and nods, "okay you know I was a lawyer once if and I mean if anything is presented I need to be prepared otherwise how can I protect you." Deeks grabs her hands and kisses one.

Georgia then spills everything she's done and every crime she's committed. Deeks decides not to tell her about his real purpose for befriending her as he can't do it it's that part he hates having to tell the truth. Another agent comes in and pulls Deeks up, handcuffs him and drags him out of the room.

Georgia then sits there staring at the wall not moving a muscle till she is taken in to custody, she shouts 'where's Marty' and struggles with the officers.

The team end up back at the Mission, standing in the bullpen,

"I'm so happy that's over, hey guys you want to go for drinks. On me."

"Deeks listen, no offence but for the past month and a half you've been different now we know why but it might take a while to get back to how we were."

"No it's... uh... its fine I guess I was hoping. I'll see you guys tomorrow then."

The team say bye to each other before heading out,

"Kensi wait up!"

"What Deeks!"

"Kensi please just let's talk?"

"You broke me Deeks and it will take time to trust you again."

"Can we please get something to eat and you hear me out, come on, Kensi, please."

"Fine"

Deeks and Kensi head over to his truck and get in. Deeks is happy that Kensi agreed to talk to him he hopes he can fix the damage he's done.

Kensi knows why Deeks did what he did but that doesn't make it hurt any less.

"Kensi look I'm so sorry for everything, I had to catch her she was killing people left right and centre. I hated the way I had to, I hated having to lie to you, I hated having to act like I hated you guys it drove me insane. I know I hurt you but I need you... I don't know but I need you to be my friend again at least."

"Okay I can try."

"So, yum yummy heart attack."

"Okay" Kensi says with a smile on her face.

Once Deeks pulls up he drops Kensi of at the take out place and drives round the corner to a shop to grab some beers and ice cream.

Deeks is in the store for 10 mins deciding what ice cream to get, he finally decides on cookie dough he jumps back in his truck and goes and weights outside the take out he waits another 10 mins but Kensi doesn't appear so he gets out of the car and walks over to the take out place to find what taking her so long. When he's in the store he can't see her so he asks the owner if he's seen his partner and the owner says no.

Deeks then worried leaves the restaurant and calls Kensi. The phone rings and Deeks swears he can hear the phone with her ringtone so he wanders around, following the sound.

He finds Kensi's phone in a bin along with her badge and gun. Deeks rushes into the take-out and asks to see the CCTV the owner takes him to the back.

Deeks sits and watches as his partner approaches the take-out when a van appears blocking the cameras view. When the van disappears Kensi's gone.

Deeks rushes out of the take-out and stands in the street looking like a lost pup. He pulls out his phone,

"Sam Kensi's gone, she was taken!"
