"I haven't had a Vanilla latte this good in a long time." I broke the silence before taking a sip of the delicious drink.
Callen seemed to be lost in thought so he didn't comment anything back. There wasn't any tension but I felt as if anything I could say could define our whole future and I simply didn't know where to start.
"Cal?" I whispered, hesitantly putting my hand over his, which caused his eyes to snap up to mine as if I had brought him back to Earth with the simple touch.
"Sorry." He whispered. "So um... I guess we should talk about the meeting huh?"
I nodded, swallowing down my nerves. I never used to be nervous in front of him.
"What happened back there Sky? I thought this was all figured out."
"I know." I sighed. "I know you did. I just... Seeing these papers, these lawyers, it all felt real all of a sudden and I realized I didn't want this. I don't want this to be the end of us."
There was so much more I wanted to say, so much more I wanted him to know but he didn't let me finish.
"We agreed it was better Sky. We both agreed." He reminded me.
"I know." I repeated pathetically.
He took a sip of his drink and I tried to ignore the fact that he was purposely avoiding my eyes, looking everywhere but directly at me.
"Cal do you still love me?" I whispered, letting out the words I was so afraid to speak out loud.
I wanted him to answer but at the same time I feared his response more than anything in my life because if he said no, I wouldn't be able to handle it. I wouldn't be able to breathe normally anymore, even if I honestly wasn't now either.
"I will always love you Sky." He sounded pain to say so, as if it was physically hurting him to realize it.
"Then let's give this another shot. Let's give us another shot. I know we can overcome this. Cal, please. Tell me what I have to do and I'll do it. I'll do anything but please Callen, please don't give up on us."
