7. The past

7. The past

On Friday, Sky groaned under her covers before coughing loudly when she heard someone was knocking at her dorm room. She was too weak to get up and she didn't want anyone to see her like this. She had caught a glimpse of her reflection in the mirror and she looked terrible. Her nose was red and runny, her eyes puffy and teary and her hair was untamable. She was also wearing the pajamas she reserved to her sick days, which were admittedly awful and worn out.

"Go away." She groaned, her voice way too low and gravely.

"I brought you soup."

"Oh god..." Sky murmured, hiding her face in her hands as the door opened.

Why didn't Kiera ever lock the door when she left? Sky knew Callen was now in her room and she looked absolutely ridiculous so she slid under her covers to hide her face. She heard his laugh fill the room and she bit her lip to try to ignore how happy it made her to just know he was there.

"Come out of your covers Sky, I won't bite. Unless that's what you like."

She laughed under the covers, which was followed by a series of coughs that were very unattractive.

"Come on, I even brought DVDs and chocolate."

She peaked her nose out of the cover and smiled at the sight of Callen's beautiful face laughing at her and waving chocolate near her.

"You're not allowed to laugh at how terrible I look alright?"

She pushed the covers from her face and sat up to grab a tissue to blow her nose. She tried her hardest to keep it as less gross as possible but it was pretty much impossible and useless at that point.

Callen smiled and put the chocolate next to her on the bed.

"You can sit on the chair if you want." She mumbled when she realized the free space on her bed was either occupied with disgusting tissues or books she had tried, but failed due to her headache, to start.

He grabbed the chair from under her desk and placed it near her bed. He didn't look repulsed, which was incredible in itself.

"I'm sorry... I didn't know anyone was going to come here." Sky mumbled.

"I had to make sure you were okay when you cancelled our date. And don't worry about it, I'm an excellent care-taker."

"I am so embarrassed right now I am actually thinking of ways to dig a hole for myself to crawl up to."

"I think you look cute."

"I think you're a skilled liar." She replied.

He laughed and Sky patted herself on the back mentally for making him laugh again. He then proceeded to give her a list of his favorite movies to watch when he was sick and she picked one that he seemed to love more than others. He put it on and they watched it together, the only thing breaking the silence being her nose-blowing and coughing but he didn't seem to mind.

She totally ate all of his chocolate but he didn't stop her so she didn't stop herself either. They were the good kind and she hadn't had any of those since she had gone back home for the holidays. Once the movie was over, he stretched and picked a book from Sky's bed. Thirteen Reasons Why again. She still hadn't finished it since her headache was keeping her from reading. He then put it back down and pointed over to Kiera's bed.

"Do you think she'll mind if I lie down for a minute?" He asked.

Sky just shook her head but thought to herself her best friend would actually worship her for letting Callen lie there since it would probably result in her sheets smelling like him. Which, in all honesty, was a creepy thought to have but it was Kiera so creepy was the norm.

Callen lay down on top of the covers and she smiled when she noticed he was way too big for the size of the bed so his feet were sticking out.

"Long day?" Sky guessed.

"It's just... a weird day for me, that's all."

"What do you mean?"

She didn't want to seem too curious or too pushy but she wanted to know him and it seemed as if he meant more by his words than he was letting on.

"Nothing, I mean it's been long. You know, I wouldn't have thought our first date would involve weird Winnie the Pooh pajamas, lots of tissues and chocolate but all in all, it was the most awesome first date I had." He whispered.

"Wow seriously, you really are a skilled liar."

He chuckled again and she smiled, turning over to her left side so that she could look at him. He had done the same and was biting his lower lip, his arm tucked under his head.

"Thanks for staying with me even though I look repulsive. And for bringing chocolate."

"If I wasn't such a germaphobe, I would get up and kiss you." Caleb murmured.

"If I didn't have snot running down my nose and chocolate over my mouth, I would kiss you back."

"Stop being so sexy."

She laughed before breaking out in coughs again. They lay down just looking at each other smiling in silence for a while and neither one of them would have wanted to be anywhere else.

(A/N: I forgot to add that on the other chapter but please pretend Thirteen Reasons Why is a book that was written in their past. I didn't realize the mistake until after and since I loved the book, I didn't want to change it so just pretend their past in our present and their present in our future (did that make sense?). Ok, that's it, happy reading!)
