Chapter Twenty-Three
"You don't have to say I love you to say I love you
Forget all the shooting stars and all the silver moons
We've been making shades of purple out of red and blue
Sickeningly sweet like honey, don't need money
All I need is you
All I need is you, you"
Christmas lights adorned the small hall, reflecting off the sparkles on Jungkook's jacket. The smell of fresh pine from the Christmas trees filled everyone's noses. Taehyung's smile had been planted on his face for the whole day. It only grew wider as he stood in front of the love of his life, underneath the mistletoe.
"You may now kiss the groom."
Jungkook breathed out a sigh of relief before placing a gentle, yet loving, kiss onto his husband's lips. They pulled away, the sound of their friends' cheering becoming muted as the only thing left in their eyes was each other. Faint barking from Yeontan could be heard over the clapping. They mouthed 'I love yous' before turning to face their group of friends. The newly-married couple walked down the aisle, hand-in-hand. Taehyung could feel the cold metal of Jungkook's wedding band against his warm skin.
After reentering the hall, Taehyung couldn't help but feel excited at how the dream wedding had turned out. It was everything he wanted and more, because his ultimate dream now is Jungkook. His husband. "You're my husband." He smiled to himself as he said the word, loving how it flows off of his tongue.
Jungkook kissed Taehyung's cheek. "And you're my husband."
Suddenly, screams erupted, startling the couple, but only to realize that it was, of course, Jimin and Hoseok. the older two ran towards them and tackled them in hugs, still screaming at the top of their lungs. Yoongi followed a few steps behind, rubbing his temples. Jungkook chuckled at the annoyed look on his best friend's face. Hoseok noticed the look too as he pouted when he broke apart from the hug. Hoseok hung his head low before wandering over to his husband, who just laughed and planted a kiss on his forehead, whispering soft "I love yous" to each other.
Jimin was still squeezing the daylights out of Taehyung, who was beginning to look pale. Jungkook cleared his throat before physically grabbing Jimin's hands and breaking the hold on Taehyung. Jimin's face turned a faint pink when he noticed how long and tight he had been squeezing the other. "I'm sorry, Taehyungie."
Taehyung giggled before patting the shorter on the top of his head. "It's okay, Jiminie pabo."
"Yah! I am not a pabo! I am your hyung." Jimin pouted, crossing his arms before walking off to go speak to somebody else. The newly married couple couldn't contain their laughter at how adorable their hyung was.

The couple posed for even more pictures as they were about to make the first cut in the cake. Taehyung stood with the knife in his hand while Jungkook was behind him, his hands on top of the other's so they could cut the cake together. They had decided to go with a chocolate cake with chocolate chip flavored icing. It didn't look like a wedding cake, but Taehyung's mouth was salivating just thinking about the chocolate flavor bursting in his mouth. He used a finger and scooped some icing from the cake, before wiping it on Jungkook's cheek.
Jungkook smiled before doing the same thing to Taehyung, except placing it on his nose. The younger then sneakily pecked Taehyung on the tip of his nose, licking the icing off. Taehyung crinkled his nose while giggling. "Aren't you going to get the icing off of my face, babe?" Jungkook winked at the older who just rolled his eyes, leaning in to get the icing off in the manner that would appease his husband.
"You kinky piece of shit." Taehyung's eyes went wide once the chocolate chip flavor hit his taste buds. "Holy crap this is delicious."
"Well if it isn't the happy couple!" Taehyung and Jungkook smiled as they turned around to face the oldest of their group.
"Jin-hyung!" Taehyung jumped into the man's arms, and Jin caught him easily. Taehyung buried his face in the older's neck while Jin rubbed a hand up and down his back. "I didn't think you and Namjoon-hyung would make it! I figured the adoption case would take up too much of your time." Taehyung was set back on the ground and Jin fixed his suit before hugging Jungkook.
Namjoon cleared his throat and answered for Jin. "Yes, adoption takes up a lot of time but we wouldn't miss this wedding for the world!" He embraced Taehyung and then Jungkook, his dimples never once wavered. "Congratulations, you two!"
The newlyweds bowed in thanks. Taehyung bent down and picked up Yeontan who had been circling around his feet for a little while now. Jungkook's eyes immediately flashed with concern. "Tae! You're going to get dog hair on your suit!"
Taehyung glared at Jungkook before turning to face the dog in his arms with twinkling eyes. "Yeontan, Kookie is calling you dirty. You should bite his leg as revenge."
Jin spit out the water in his mouth as the sound of a windshield wiper filled the air around them. That caused the other three boys to laugh because of how contagious Jin's laughter is. Taehyung set Yeontan down and watched as he tried to scurry over to Jungkook's leg.
"Hey! Bad dog! No biting me!" Jungkook starting running in circles, Yeontan's stubby legs following quickly behind. "Tae! Make him stop trying to bite me!"
"Are you going to be nice to him?" Taehyung giggled.
"Fine, fine! Now make him stoppppp." Jungkook had to jump over a chair to avoid running into it, Yeontan still on his heels.
Taehyung watched for a second longer before bending his knees and patting his thighs. He whistled softly and called Yeontan's name, watching as the pooch immediately gave up his battle with Jungkook and ran to Taehyung, who instantly picked him up again. Jungkook stormed over, panting slightly as he fixed his suit and hair. "I swear you love that dog more than me."
Taehyung shrugged. "Well, I can't marry a dog."
Namjoon snorted as Jungkook smacked Taehyung on the arm, making Taehyung giggle, his box smile growing even wider as he took a step closer to Jungkook, pecking his lips. "I love you way more than, Yeontan, Kookie. Don't worry. There is nothing to be concerned about." He winked before setting the dog back on the ground. Yeontan wandered over to bother Yoongi instead. The group could faintly hear Yoongi complaining about Yeontan following him, but Jungkook could see the faint pink that covered his best friend's cheeks.
•••••
Taehyung woke up to a weight on top of his body. He blinked a few times, adjusting to the light, before fully opening them. Jungkook sat on Taehyung's lap, straddling him, with a cupcake in his hands.
"Happy birthday, my beautiful husband!" Jungkook's bunny tooth smile made Taehyung's heart flutter.
Taehyung chuckled as he sat up. Jungkook lit the candle with a small lighter in his hands. He told Taehyung to make a wish and blow it out, which the older did almost immediately. "What did you wish for?"
"If I tell you, it won't come true, now will it?" Taehyung winked.
Jungkook climbed off of his husband's lap, allowing the older to climb out of bed. The sound of the doorbell ringing made the couple curious as they wandered downstairs to answer the door. Jungkook opened the door only to find a lone package on the mat. He picked it up with a raised eyebrow before closing the door and turning to face Taehyung, who was tightening his robe around himself.
"What is it?"
Jungkook shrugged before walking into the kitchen, setting the small package down on the counter. "I don't know, but it's addressed to you. Could be a birthday gift from your mom, maybe?"
Curiosity overwhelming him, Taehyung slowly opened up the package, feeling his heart sink immediately when he saw that it was definitely not a gift from his mother. "Tae?" Jungkook's voice was laced with concern as he wrapped his muscular arms around the smaller boy's waist. "What is it? What's wrong?"
Taehyung could feel the tears burning into his cheeks as he sifted through the contents of the package. "H-He knows."
"What? Who knows?" Jungkook's grip on Taehyung became a little tighter.
Taehyung picked up a few of the contents and showed them to Jungkook. The box had been filled with pictures of the couple. Their house, their trips to the grocery store, even Yeontan. "No, not Yeontan!" Taehyung cried harder when he saw the pictures of the sweet dog.
Jungkook felt the anger filling him up as he released his grip, afraid of hurting the older. He sifted through the photos before his eyes landed on a photo of the couple from their wedding. It was the only picture with ink written on the back. Jungkook's heart sank as he read the words. "Tae..." The younger had tears filling his eyes too as he watched the broken Taehyung return. They hadn't heard anything about his father since his mom had called a few months ago, and then this happens on Taehyung's birthday. It infuriated Jungkook.
Taehyung took the picture from Jungkook's hands before slowly turning it over. His body visibly tensed as he read the words, before he completely broke. His knees collapsed under him as he fell to the ground, sobbing harder than he has in his entire life. Jungkook was immediately next to him, rubbing his back and trying to hold him best that he could, but Taehyung's anger got the best of him as he starting punching Jungkook in the chest while he sobbed. "I love you, Taehyungie. I will protect you," the younger reassured him. Jungkook could feel himself snapping inside seeing his husband more broken than he has ever seen him. He wanted to murder that bastard of a father, but he knew Taehyung wouldn't want that to happen, and that was the only thing holding him back. Taehyung gripped Jungkook's arms like his life depended on it before the older buried his sobs into the other's shirt.
