It was dark and quiet as I waited on the curb for my parents to pick me up from gymnastics. It's normal for them to be late; my parents never really cared about me just my brothers and sister. I don’t hold any envy towards my siblings for anything because I know they feel bad for me and they try to always keep me happy. My older brother Justin said he would buy me a birthday cake without my parents knowing, he knows I don’t want them to feel bad for forgetting my birthday again so we always have a secret party.

Even though my parents only forget my birthday out of everyone, I don’t want them to feel bad because I still love them anyway. I saw two headlights pulling up towards me; I picked up my bag and got up. The car stopped and the back door swung open revealing a little girl flinging herself at me.

"Leah Happy Birthday!" yelled Lucy and gave me a hug making me smile. Lucy is my cute little sister I love. She has soft curly brown hair, light tanned skin, an adorable smile, and is super close to me. She's only seven years old and is pretty much the smartest one in the family already. She's in 5th grade only because the state won’t allow her to be in any higher grade then that. I'm nine, I mean TEN years old (now) and in the same grade as her! Lucy grabbed my hand and dragged me in the car.

"Happy Birthday Leah" Justin said giving me a hug. I smiled and picked up the little boy he was holding.

"Hawpy buwthway weah" said my little brother Jake. Jake is so freaking cute, four years old of pure cuteness.

"'Thank you Jake" I said buckling my seatbelt in the back. I looked up front and noticed my parents were looking at me. They were actually acknowledging I was in the car, well that's a first.

"Happy birthday Leah" my parents said looking at me with a slightly sad expression. I was shocked, they don't usually talk to me at all.

"Thanks mom, dad." I said still shocked. They turned back around and started driving while my little sister was smiling like a maniac, actually so were my brothers as well. Okay something is definitely going on.

We arrived to a park a couple minutes later and my sister literally climbed over me and got out of the car. She ran to a picnic table and my parents got out of the car. Justin covered my eyes and Jake was holding my hand and pulling me somewhere. Justin is 13 and looks like me in a way. We both have an olive-camelish color skin tone. He had short brown hair though I on the other hand was the only one in the family that had jet black hair that fell mid-length down my back. Jake, well he looked like a younger boy version of Lucy.

Jake let go of my hand and Justin uncovered my eyes.

"SURPRISE!" everyone yelled. I was speechless. The table had drinks, chips, presents, and a birthday cake. Oh my gosh I got a birthday cake for MY birthday! I'm so happy!

"Happy Birthday Leah, we never meant to make it feel like we ignored you." My dad said.

"I hope you'll forgive us." My mom said with a weak smile. I smiled and gave them both hugs.

"I forgive you." I said smiling.

Justin walked up to me and handed me a box, I looked at him and opened the box. I held the heart shaped locket in my hand, it was absolutely beautiful, when I opened it there was a picture of me, Jake, Justin, Lucy, my mom and dad. We had taken that picture two years ago for my brother's 5th grade graduation. Jake ran up to me and jumped on my leg.

"My tuwn!" he yelled. Everyone laughed including me. I smiled at him and pried him off my leg.

"Cwose your eyes and owpen your hands." He said and I did as I was told. I felt something hit my hands and I opened my eyes smiling holding up a sketch book. I looked at Jake who was smiling like a little kid in a candy store. I picked him up and gave him a big hug.

"Thank you Jake, I can’t wait to draw in it!" I said putting him down. Lucy came up to me and gave me a large box, I raised an eyebrow at her and she mouthed 'open it'. I opened the box and smiled. I pulled out seeds, dirt, bottles of liquids and labels, a pouch, a smaller box with a few pieces of jewelry and different colored beads.

"Lucy how long did it take you to make all of this?!" I said hugging her. The thing is my family and I, are all demi-gods. My parents were born from demi-gods and same with them so we are basically crossbreeds of practically all the gods.

We all have different abilities like Lucy. She specializes in potions and all that stuff, while Justin has the gift of a blacksmith. I'm good in about everything so I'm the only odd one in the family, we don't know about Jake yet since he's too young.

My parents don't tell me much about themselves but my dad has the gift of a blacksmith and my mom’s gift I think is being wise and stuff. I really don't know too much.

"Our turn!" my mom said giving me a white case. I opened it and my jaw dropped. It was a dark purple violin. A VIOLIN! I didn't even know my parents knew I played. They never went to any of my performances it was always my brothers and sister. I gave them a hug and wondered how long has it been since I've hugged my parent? Weeks? Months? No I think it's been years. I pulled back and looked at them.

"We are really sorry that we haven't paid much attention to you and were sorry it took us so long to realize it." My mom said.

"One of my coworkers told me how excellent your violin playing is and it was that moment it hit me that I've never heard you play. So can you please play for us?" my dad said with pleading guilty eyes.

I picked up my violin and started playing it wasn't anything special in my opinion but my mom was crying and my dad close to it when I was done. I smiled at them and Lucy jumped on my back.

"Hey!" I yelled ticking her off my back. When she was done laughing she got up off the floor and picked up the pouch that she gave me in my box. She opened it and it grew bigger. She put everything she gave me and walked to my violin case.

She gave the bag a little squeeze and it was super small. She put it in the pocket and walked up to me. I had my mouth hanging open and she smirked at me, I was about to tickle her when I heard a huge growl.

I turned around and was thrown to the ground by a huge beast, It had an Ox type head with the body of man. I screamed and the beast roared, my parents quickly stepped in my place to fight off the beast but it was too much. The next thing I knew is they were on the ground covered in their blood and looking at me.

"We love you Leah, go get your sister out of here Justin already took Jake out of here, take Lucy and go." My parents said alternating at different point. The beast roared and I sprinted to Lucy who was standing behind a tree shaking and holding my violin case.

"Come on!" I yelled, big mistake because the beast started charging at us. Lucy grabbed my hand and ran,we were running super-fast but I remembered a place Justin would go to the camp in the summer. Camp half-blood and we're not too far from it.

We ran for about ten minutes and I saw the hill for the camp. I turned around to look at Lucy and saw the beast running right at us and it was gaining speed. Lucy was crying and tripped on a big tree branch.

"Get up Lucy! We have to go! Come on!" I yelled pulling her hand. The beast rammed into me and Lucy screamed. Getting hit by the beast felt like getting hit by a truck load of bricks. The beast had hit me seven feet up the hill if I took one step forward I would be safe.

"LUCY!" I screamed just as the monster crushed her. I felt like stone... cold and alone. I saw the beast walking towards me but I was suddenly being pulled away from the monster. I closed my eyes and tried to let the darkness take over me but it wouldn't. I couldn't move either but I heard voices all around me.

"Chiron is this okay to do?" I heard a girl ask. Wait where have I heard that name?

"Yes Clarisse just put her down gently." Said I'm guessing Chiron. I felt the rush of cold water hit my skin. It felt good and I let my body soak it in, for some reason I felt a whole lot better.

I opened my eyes and I was under water in a stream of some sort and I saw blurry figures on top of the bank.

I lifted my head out of water and took a deep breath, I looked up and a muscular girl lifted me up. I stayed quiet and looked at the centaur that was standing right in front of me, I recognized him when I saw his face he was my brother's counselor, Chiron. I closed my eyes and remembered Lucy and I quickly open my eyes.

"Where's Lucy!? Is she okay?!" I yelled out loud. Chiron looked at me with a sad expression and I completely shut down. I couldn't talk or move all I could do was see and hear it felt like an out of body experience as they took me to an infirmary. The girl tucked me in and sat down next to me but I wouldn't look at her directly.  She put a cookie in front of my eyes and waved it.

"Here eat this" Clarisse said trying to give me the cookie. I didn't move and she put the cookie down after holding it for about two minutes, she sighed before getting up to leave. The rest of the day people were trying to make me eat, but I couldn't I felt sick to my core. Finally people stopped trying and left me alone. I closed my eyes and wished for sleep but didn't come, I laid awake in the silence and it was agonizing. It was giving me time to think which I didn't want. I heard the door open and I looked up at Clarisse, she sat on my bed and pulled out and iPod, she put it in my hand and was about to walk away when I called after her.

"Wait!" I said and she stopped and turned around.

"Why did you give this to me?" I asked her and she just smiled at me.

"Quietness can be painful when you lose someone you love; music can take your mind off of things." She said and walked away. I looked at the red and black iPod and put the earphones in and pressed the play button. I fell asleep as soon as I started hearing the guitar play and when  I woke up Clarisse was next to me. I looked at her and gave her a weak smile.

"Hungry?" she said and I nodded my head yes. I lifted my covers and got off the bed but fell down, Clarisse picked me up and put me on the bed.

"Eat this and we'll go eat breakfast, this will make you feel better." She said and handed me a cookie, I ate quickly and got up again, this time making sure to steady myself before looking at her and urging her to lead the way.

She laughed and got up. I grabbed her hand as we walked out the door. We walked to a big building and there were about 50 people or so in the lunch hall.

"There are usually a lot more people here but most of them are coming back in the summer so this is it for now." Clarisse said pulling me to a buffet, I picked up a plate and picked up chocolate chip pancakes and a lot of bacon. I followed Clarisse to a fire pit in the middle of the room and put some of my pancakes and bacon in the fire like my brother said he did in camp. Clarisse led me to a table and there were about seven people there and greeted them.

"Hey guys" Clarisse said sitting down. I sat down next to her but didn't eat, Clarisse was in a deep conversation and wasn't looking at me when I had taken my food and left. I walked outside walked towards the woods; I reached a small little clearing and put my food down. I looked around for a bit and found a shovel I came back to the clearing and started digging.

 I dug a couple of feet and stopped, getting up again to pick up dead branches off the floor, I put them in the hole and grabbed a little match box I always kept in my pockets. I don't know why I always have it but I do. I made a fire and put one pancake in there and two pieces of bacon, I let it burn for a little bit unsure of what to do next since I’m sure no one has done this before. I decided to put dirt over the fire and refill the hole. I bent my head down.

"Hades if you can hear me please except my offering to you and take care of my parents, I promise I'll do this every time I eat so please don't be too hard on them or my sister." I prayed out loud. Smoke started rising from the hole I refilled and I took that as a sign he heard me. I ate my only pancake and the last two bacon strips, when I was done I got up and walked out of the woods.

I kept walking for a couple of minutes and ended up reaching a stream I had never seen before. I frowned realizing I didn’t know where I was going so I decided to step in the water and close my eyes. A couple minutes later I opened my eyes to find a really pretty girl in front of me. She had blue hair, elf looking ears, sparkles on her and all blue eyes, no pupils. I fell on my butt shocked.

I keep doing that! What is wrong with me!? The girl lifted her hand and helped me up, she turned around and started walking, I followed her and she started walking faster until we were on a full on sprint. I stopped to catch my breath and I realized that I was in front of the lunch hall again. I turned around to say thank you but the girl for leading me to where I needed to go but she was gone.

 I decided to walk around and found a boy holding a bow and arrow, I sat by a tree and watched him shoot. It was amazing how much accuracy he had. The boy noticed me watching him and smiled, he started walking towards me.

"Would you like to try?" he asked me. I nodded my head 'yes' cautiously. I stood up and followed him. He gave me a bow practically my height and lightly laughed as I positioned to shoot. I pulled the bow and released and watched as it hit the hay stack dead smack in the center causing the boy to stop laughing and stare at me wide eyed as I gave him the bow and walked away.

I walked into a clearing with 11 cabins and admire each one.  They all looked really cool each cabin having different themes but the one that caught my interest the most was the cabin with armor and weapons on the porch. Walking up to the cabin, I opened the door and to my surprise Clarisse was on the first bed. She smiled at me and got up and went to a door and pulled out my violin case. My eyes started water just looking at it.

"Thank you" I said with my heart, while hugging her, she just hugged me back and laughed.

"You're welcome."

"I'm' going to leave soon" I said not looking at her. She has been so nice to me I feel sad leaving her but everyone I love gets hurt.

"I understand." She said and I looked at her wide eyed.

"Can you take me to Chiron I need to talk to him before I go?" She nodded her head and got up. I followed her and we entered a building that looked like a house. I waited outside as she got Chiron when he came out he looked at me with pity and I hated it.

"I'm leaving, but I need your help to burry Lucy." I said looking down. He nodded and went inside; he came back a couple minutes later holding a clean lifeless Lucy. Tears started coming down my eyes and I took a deep breath.

"I'll carry her" I said with my voice cracking. He gave Lucy to me and I held her body. Clarisse got on Chiron's back and lifted me up carefully, Chiron started running and tears were falling and I held on to Lucy. We stopped in a valley not too far from where my parents died, Clarisse started digging a hole as I looked at Lucy. I knew she was dead but I was glad they cleaned her body so it looked like nothing happened.

I got off of Chiron and laid Lucy gently in the ground; I found a large rock nearby and carried it making it into a tombstone. I still had my violin case and took out the pouch and grabbed the special seeds she had given me on my birthday.

"Lucy you were the best sister I ever had and I will always remember. I'm sorry I couldn't protect you, please find a  way to talk to me. I love you with my heart and soul. Goodbye little sister." I whispered the last part. I sprinkled the seeds and put the dirt on top of her and as soon as I put my hand down, beautiful moon lilies sprouted. Lucy loved those flowers so much they grow when the moon it out but it only grows if there is a demi-god or a god or immortal to help it grow.

"Do you know where you're going to go?" Chiron asked.

"Yes, and this is where you leave now. Goodbye Clarisse thank you for everything." I said hugging her.

"Goodbye..." she trailed off and it occurred to me I never gave her my name. I laughed.

"Leah" I said pulling away.

"Goodbye Leah, stay safe" she said. I turned to Chiron and he bent down.

"Thank you, goodbye Chiron." I said after hugging him. He left with Clarisse and I started running as fast as I could to the park where I lost my parents. I reached there and started seeing police lights. I laid down behind a tree close enough so the police could easily find me and soon enough fell asleep peacefully.
