Previously on Nico’s POV

‘The Demogorgon preys on human flesh but will stop at nothing to devour the life and soul of a fallen black angel. The black angel will give the Demogorgon power beyond wonder and nothing will be able to stop it unless’ I whispered out loud then flipped the page but there was nothing there. I stared at the book like it had grown three heads and talked.

There has to be more than that. I looked closer at the page it was supposed to be on and you could see the page was ripped. I slammed the book closed and groaned in frustration.

-Are you serious?! There has to be more!- I yelled in my head.

I stood up and Jake looked ready to yank his hair out.

‘Is this what you’re looking for?’ I asked holding up the book and Jake face lit up.

‘Yes!’ he yelled and I tossed him the book and he scowled.

‘Be careful!’ he yelled then started flipping through the pages looking very serious.

There was a rumble outside and we all looked at each other. There’s no way the Demogorgon sent another monster already, right?!

Chapter 24

The second of three: The Sekhem

Nico’s POV

We ran outside and there was a tall slender women and she looked stunning. She had long elegant white wings on her back, and luscious black hair that rolled down her back in beautiful waves. She was wearing a long white dress and had a long brown robe on. You could see a scabbard sword on the side of her sash a long her hip.

She looked like an assassin goddess. Hold up! What am I thinking? I love Leah! There’s something not right here.

‘Can you help me?’ she asked in an angelic voice that threw me off, not like I was expecting it to be ugly.

‘Who are you?’ Justin asked and he seemed slightly dazed, as did everyone else.

She looked up and her eyes were pitched black reminding me of some of the few demons I’ve seen in the underworld.

She screamed and that seem to snap us all out of our haze. It grabbed its sword and the thing freaking lit on fire, on fire!

She lounged towards Justin and we all reacted. Lucy and Leah knocked her off and Justin ran inside the house to hide Evianna, who was still inside. Jake had two books in his hands and we dove into the bushes to look up what monster we were facing.

Evianna’s POV

I heard yelling and screaming coming from outside and I felt the monster from outside.

‘This is my fault.’ I whispered. I stood up from the couch and my vision blurred and the ground felt closer.

‘Evianna,’ a voice said and I felt someone wrap their arms around me and stopped my fall.

‘Justin?’ I asked and I could vaguely see him.

‘What’s wrong?’ he asked and he helped me up and let my vision get back to normal.

‘I’ve felt this woman before.’ I said and he looked confused.

‘What are you talking about?’ he asked and I leaned on him for support to stand up. I was still in bandages and my body felt sore all over.

‘The women outside is a Sekhem, she’s an Egyptian monster and her name means the destroyer,’ I said and his eyes grew big.

‘You can sense her from outside?’ he asked bewildered.

‘That’s because she’s hunting me. I had seen her from a far before and D had explained to me that she connects to all of her victims that she is going to kill so she can feel their fear before they die.’ I said and he grimaced.

‘What else do you know about her?’ he asked.

‘Well, her attacking style in to stun her opponent with her beauty before making the attack. She also has extremely heightened senses so that it could see smell and hear things way better than any human or animal.’ I said and I felt nauseous.

‘Do you know her weakness?’ he asked and I shook my head no.

‘D never told me so I’m not sure.’ I said.

‘Come on, we need to get out here before it finds you.’ He said grabbing my hand and I saw a cut on his arm. I pulled him to a stop and inspected his cut.

‘You just got this?’ I asked tracing it and he winced.

‘Yeah,’ he mumbled and I started pulling him in the direction of the infirmary I was in.

‘What are you doing?’ he asked and I rolled my eyes.

‘Isn’t it obvious? I’m taking you to the infirmary to wrap that up. Do you seriously think the monster won’t be able to smell that?’ I asked and he let me pull him to the infirmary.

I pulled out a couple cotton balls, peroxide, and gauze. He looked at what I had and his face paled. I rolled my eyes and looked around the cupboards and found what I was looking for.

‘This will only hurt for a second,’ I said and before he could say anything I stuck the needle in his arm and gave him a shot of pain medication.

‘What the hell!’ he yelled and I sighed.

‘Can you feel the cut?’ I asked and put peroxide on the cotton ball.

‘No,’ he said and I dabbed his cut and put gauze around his arm.

‘How did you know what to do? You know, to make it not hurt,’ he asked and I slightly smiled.

‘I read a lot when I was little including lots of medical books.’ I said and he nodded his head.

‘Evianna I’m -’ he started and the monster burst into the room. It started screeching in pain and me and Justin looked at each other confused. The window crashed down to the floor and there was some kid around my age. He had short black spiky hair, neon blue eyes with black specks in them, he was about 6 feet and was tanned, he black jeans and a white shirt on. You could see his muscles through the shirt and stop it! Stop checking him out!

‘You!’ he yelled and grabbed me. He put me in front of him and Justin went to get but the dude stopped him.

‘Give me your necklace now.’ He said in a hard voice. I gave him my necklace and I was shocked to see it glowing. The woman screamed and took a step back. I gave it to the guy and he threw it at the woman and she began turning red. Her body started melting and she screamed from the top of her lungs.

I turned around and hid from the sight in the dude’s chest. I felt a pat on my shoulder and I looked up. This dude was undeniably hot.

‘It’s okay now.’ He said and I blushed and backed away from him.

I looked at the remains of the monster and as it turned to ash the others finally arrived.

‘What the hall are you doing here?’ Nico sneered and my eyes met my sisters.

‘Kathalina-’ I started and she cut me off.

‘It’s Leah,’ she said in a cold voice and she looked guilty.

‘Sorry,’ she mumbled and I looked away from her.

‘What killed the monster?’ I asked the dude who I still didn’t know his name!

‘The emerald around your neck, that’s the only thing that can kill it.’ He said.

‘Wow,’ was all I could say.

‘Zack, why are you here?’ Nico said seething.

‘Relax; I’m on your side. I’m just helping.’ He said putting his arms up in surrender.

Everyone started talking all at once but something caught my eye. In the ash of the monster there was a letter. I picked it up and began reading it.

Evianna,

I see you survived again. The last monster will come soon and be prepared because the next monster will surely shock you. This monster has never failed in killing its target so be prepared.   –D

I put the letter down and began to shake. I felt a burning feeling on my calf and I held it to stop the pain.

‘Evianna,’ Justin said and the world began fading black. I heard people calling my name but soon I couldn’t hear a thing at all.

Zack’s POV

Evianna passed out and I caught her before her head hit the floor. I looked at her leg and it was red. I looked at it closer and a scar began forming in the shape of a three serpents. I had seen that before but where?

‘Was that scar always there?’ I asked pointing at her leg and some little kid that looked about nine years old ran over to us and examined her scar.

‘This is Medusa’s symbol,’ he said looking astounded.

‘So what does it mean?’ I asked and he took the letter that was in Evianna’s hand.

‘It means we just found a clue to the next monster.’ He said and I looked at them all confused.

‘Next? How many more are coming?’ I asked.

‘This is the last one before we are attacked by the main monster I guess.’ He said shrugging his shoulders.

‘So what do we do now?’ Leah asked.

‘We go to the library and find the monster that’s coming next but we all have to stay on guard.’ He said.

‘What do they want?’ I asked and they didn’t speak but gave me a grim expression before looking at Evianna.

What could a monster possibly want from her?

‘So what are you exactly doing here?’ Nico asked me as everyone left.

‘I came here to help you guys out and give you feed back on what my father is planning on doing.’ I said and he sighed.

‘Sorry for being an a$$ earlier,’ he said and I patted his back.

‘It’s okay, I’m use to it.’ I said and he punched me in the arm but as a friendly gesture.

‘Whatever,’ he said and I grinned at him but then I remembered what news I had to tell him and my expression went cold.

‘Nico, your father and mine has teamed up to look for the angel and they are sending other demi-gods to look for you guys.’ I said and he clenched his jaw.

‘I see, come on we got to go to the library with everyone else.’ He said but then stopped.

‘How did you find this place? It’s supposed to have a barrier from the God’s and demi-gods from entering.’ He said and I looked at him and shrugged my shoulders.

‘I don’t know, I felt like this place was calling to me for some strange reason.’ I said then thought of something.

‘If this place is a blind spot to demi-gods, and the gods, how come monsters can come in?’ I asked and he looked confused as well.

‘I don’t know, let’s go ask Jake,’ he said and I raised an eyebrow in confusion.

‘The short kid,’ he said and I followed him to a huge library.

‘Jake!’ Nico yelled and the little boy from earlier walked up to us.

‘What?’ he asked.

‘How come monsters are able to come in here if there’s a barrier?’ Nico asked.

‘Well the only way is for the monster to be sent in by someone from the outside that knows someone is here for a fact or knows about this place and its barriers I created. I don’t know why, but that’s just how it is,’ he said then went away.

‘So the main monster knows this place exists?’ I asked and Nico shrugged.

‘I would assume so,’ he said.

‘Both of you, start searching for the book with either three serpents on it or has Medusa’s name on it!’ Jake yelled.

‘Well somebody missed there nap today.’ I grumbled then started searching for the book.
