Chapter 2

Ex-boyfriend's back and the old-hag poisoned me

Just a quick flask back

'I got to go.' I said backing away.  

'Wait what's your name?' I asked. He looked at me stunned. 

'Nico, Nico di Angelo.' He said. Nico. It suits him. 

'Maybe I'll see you around Nico. Thanks for everything, got to go!' I said and took off running thinking about Nico and who could he possibly be related to which Greek god. 

Ares? I'm not sure but I hope I see him again. 

Chapter 2 

I ran back to the apartment and climbed up the fire escape. I stopped in front of my window and bent down over my plant pot. I put my saved funnel cake sticks in and took out the matches in my pocket.  

I lit on fire and waited a couple seconds before putting dirt on it and saying a prayer. I opened the window and climbed in. 

I grabbed my keys and put my violin on my bed. I opened my door and walked out. I walked to the front door but was stopped by the evil hag, my adopted mom that wanted all my family's money. 

She smiled at me and offered me a powdered doughnut. I smiled and took it. I left the apartment off to school orientation. Why they have it at 6:00 in the morning? I don't know but it sucks, since school starts the next day.  

I threw the doughnut in the trashcan before I got on the sub. Why would I throw away a perfectly good powdered doughnut? Well the hag has been trying to kill me since she first gained custody of me. 

She poisoned my food before and if it weren't for those beads i got a long time ago from my birthday i would have died, so yeah I don't really eat at home ever. 

I walked up the steps too my school. NYH high school (i made the school name up so don't go on looking for it unless you really want to). I like to think of the 'H' standing for Hell and it seems to fit. 

I walked in the school and headed off for the cafeteria, where the orientation was being held. I walked in and everyone was sitting in their seats. I ignored them and walked up to a lady that was in charge of schedules.  

'Name?' said the old lady. 

'Leah Ashwood.' I said lowly so no one else can hear. 

'You're thee Leah Ashwood.' She said her eyes widening from shock. 

'Yes the Leah Ashwood that can fire you if you repeat my last name again.' I whispered in a cold lifeless tone. If anyone found out about my last name they would treat me differently and I would hate it. 

She went pale and handed me my schedule. 

'Thank you' I said rolling my eyes and walking away. I was about to leave when I heard the principle on the microphone. 

'Ah, so nice of you to be here Ms. Leah.' He said. Just hearing his voice pissed me off for an unknown reason. I turned around and everyone was looking at me. I flipped the principal off then the rest of the school and left. 

I walked back to my apartment and jumped in the shower. I got out and put on black shorts that are not booty shorts but about mid-thigh shorts, and a dark purple tank top. After that I put my hair looking short when it actually goes to my knees. I put a beanie with black cat ears to make it stay in place. 

I grabbed my acoustic guitar and walked out of my room to find the hag right behind it. I glared at her and walked around her.  

'Where the hell do you think you're going?' she sneered at me.  

'Out.' Was all I said and I left a fuming hag behind me. I took the sub to Manhattan and walked until I found Central Park. I walked around and found a stage no one was there so I took out my guitar and started strumming trying to figure out what words would go good to the song.  

'Leah?' I heard a voice I never wanted to hear again. 

'Gabriel.' I said in a strained voice. He was my ex-boyfriend that cheated on me then said I was too emo acting and that pissed me off. 

'Writing a song about our love and how you want me back?' he said in a smug voice. Oh hell no he didn't just say that. Words started forming in my head for the song and I smiled at him. 

'Yes actually you gave me the words to a song right now.' I said smiling as sweetly as I can, which was surprisingly a real challenge but he bought it. 

'Then play for everyone here.' He said and I saw I had a crowd watching me. Oh yeah the ultimate pay back. 

'I would love too.' I said.  

'Everyone I'm going to sing a song a just came up with a few minutes ago from the inspiration of Gabriel right here.' I said and everyone just looked at me. 

I started playing and fitting the words in the right places and it all came together perfectly.  

Don't know what's going on

While these walls surround me with the story of our life

When I was done everyone was laughing at Gabriel and he was red faced it was hilarious.  

'Oh, did I forget to tell you he was my ex-boyfriend that cheated on me? Oh well karma's a b!tch aint she?' I said looking at Gabriel. He had turned red and was fuming. Loser. 

I watched him leave and the crowd cheered.  

'Thanks everyone but I got to leave I'm sorry.' And everyone wined. I left anyway. I bumped into someone and was about to fall but he caught me. I looked and it was Nico.  

He let go and I stepped back. I walked around him and he just stood there looking at me. 

'Aren't you going to say thank you?' he asked and I turned to face him. 

'Aren't you going to say sorry for bumping into me?' I asked. I smiled at him and said thanks and left.  

'Wait where you going,' he said running to catch up with me.  

'To my hell hole' I said. He seemed a little stunned but kept following me right to my apartment door. I opened the door and walked inside but just stood there. 

'Aren't you going to come in since you followed me all this way?' I said. He came inside and studied me.  

'Can you finally tell me your name now since you ran away the other day?' He said and I stopped walking to the kitchen. So he remembered me after all. Huh.  

'Leah.' I said and continued to the kitchen. He sat down at the table. I got a glass of water and pulled out a special piece of paper. I put it in the water and took it out. Nico stared at me like I was crazy. 

'What are you doing?' he said.  

'Testing the water to make sure it's not poisoned.' I said and he looked at me with a WTF expression. 

I checked the paper and it was positive which meant it has poisoned it. I showed him the paper and poured the glass down the drain. I gave him a ring and he looked at him. 

'Idiot put on if you wanna see why I call this place a hell hole.' He put it on and he became invisible.  

'Stay hidden okay, no matter what happens.' I said just before the old hag walked through the door. She looked at me with a sad expression. 

Oh. I see you're still alive.' She said getting a glass of water from the fridge.

'Still trying to kill me you pathetic bastard?' i said sitting on the table. She came over and slapped me on the face. I felt it stung but it meant nothing to me.  

'Tomorrow makes what the seventh year?' she sneered at me and i got up. She pulled my hand and i was about to yell at her when she threw the water in my mouth. I chocked on the water and staggered back. I ran to my room trying to get the medicine that would help me with the poison starting to run through my body. 

Nico walked in and slammed the door shut and locked it, he jogged to me.  

'Are you okay?' he asked but i started to fall to the ground. He caught me and the room was spinning. I crawled to my violin case and pulled out the beads that carried the antidote. I started gasping for air and coughing. 

Nico pulled the bead off the necklace and handed it to me. I put it in my mouth and chewed it until i could swallow it. Slowly things started to get clear again. I saw Nico stand up and he looked pissed. 

'I'm going to kill her.' he said through clenched teeth. I grabbed his hand and he stopped and looked at me. His eyes were all black but i couldn't take my eyes off of his. 

'Stay... please... i just... need to sleep... it off.' I said panting with each breath. My eye lids seemed to grow heavier each second. I felt myself being lifted and placed on my bed. My eyes were closing but i was fighting it. I felt him wrap his arms around me and he whispered in my ear the words I haven't heard in years.  

'It's going to be okay, I won't leave you' he whispered and I fell into a dreamless sleep.
