RECAP:    Annabeth’s POV

 I went back to the infirmary and swung the door open. What I didn’t expect to see was Nico about to kiss Leah. Leah looked embarrassed and Nico glared at me. I turned red.

‘Bad timing huh?’ I said walking towards Leah and Nico let go of Leah and got up and stalked off. Leah was red and I grinned at her, making her blush even brighter.

‘Are you okay?’ I asked then the door busted open.

‘Leah, are you okay?’ Chiron asked followed by Mr. D.

‘I don’t know.’ She said looking at me.

‘I was dreaming and-‘ she paused and I looked at Mr. D. and Chiron staring at her intently listening.

‘I don’t remember. I’m sorry for worrying you but I’m really tired.’ She said drooping her eyelids. I knew she was lying but the question is why. Chiron nodded in understanding and Mr. D left as well.

I walked to her bed.

‘I know your lying about the dream so why don’t you tell me what happened,’ I said while sitting on a chair.

‘You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.’ She mumbled.

 ‘Try me,’ I said and she sighed and began telling me her story.

Chapter 16

Gears turn, blushing day and feelings are finally shown! <3

Chiron’s POV

I watched the kids at camp half-blood train outside. I sighed and watched Dionysus walked in the room and sat down in front of me.

‘Have you heard any news about the angel?’ I asked looking through papers.

‘Yes I have. Things are getting complicated though.’ He said grunting and I set my papers down.

‘How so?’ I asked paying attention to him.

‘Well my father is trying to keep the angel thing a secret and my wife was serving them food and over heard their conversation about the angels.’ He said and I raised a brow.

‘Angels, as in more than one?’ I asked mystified. If this was the case the prophecy that came out over two centuries ago is coming true. We had given up on that prophecy after the first 80 years but this was astounding.

‘Yup, but what I want to know is why they want to have the angels so bad.’ He said with a constipated thinking look. What I may be old but I know a constipated face when I see one.

‘So how can we identify the angels?’ I asked just as the door slammed opened. Annabeth was panting and she looked scared.

‘Something’s wrong with Leah come quick!’ she yelled then disappeared as fast as she came. Me and Dionysus shared a look. We got up and rushed after Annabeth.  We reached the infirmary only to be greeted with a very mad Nico. He stalked off not even glancing in our direction and his face was bright red.

We slammed open the door.

‘Leah, are you okay?’ me and Dionysus asked at the same time. She looked red and Annabeth stared at us dumbfounded.

‘I don’t know.’ She said looking at Annabeth a little bit confused.

‘I was dreaming and-‘she paused and I listened closely. She seemed to be deciding something.

‘I don’t remember. I’m sorry for worrying you but I’m really tired.’ She said drooping her eyelids. It was quite clear she was faking it but she did rather pale so I nodded and me and Dionysus left her to rest.

‘Dionysus, tell me about your daughter.’ I said suddenly thinking for a moment. He looked a little thrown off but never the less explained about her life, how she grew up, when she got married and the day she was told she couldn’t have kids.

‘Wait, so Leah isn’t her real daughter?’ I asked confused.

‘No, she told me she was left on her door step around five years old. None of her three other kids is hers.’ He said.

‘Does Leah know?’ I asked practically hearing the gears in my head turning.

‘You know what, I don’t know. The last time I spoke to her she told me she was going to tell her on her tenth birthday. Why all the sudden questions?’ he asked clearly confused.

‘Dionysus don’t you see? Leah could be the angel.’ I said thinking closely. The only way for it to be true is if she has the angel tattoo. The book had said when the angels walked the earth they all had angel tattoos. I would look at the book now but it was burned during World War I.

‘How is that possible?’ Dionysus asked clearly thinking I’m a nut case.

‘We need to find out if she has the tattoo.’ I said walking into the big house.

Leah’s POV

Oh my gawd Nico was about to kiss me.

Dam Annabeth for interrupting! You so wanted him to kiss you!

No, she came in on time. I can’t get close to him, I’m a dam angel!

Your point?

 ‘It could never work.’ I whispered sadly. He would never want a freak like me.

It’s been a couple days since I had told Annabeth all about me and since Nico was about to kiss me. Clarisse was taken to a normal hospital since she lost a lot of blood so now I’m left in the infirmary. I always seem to be back in every time I go to this camp. I feel so claustrophobic that I’m suffocating slowly.

I got out of bed and walked slowly to the door. I opened the door and I suddenly felt I was looking at the world differently. The wind whipped my hair back and the fresh air made me feel at ease. I took a step onto the ground and felt the dirt between my toes.

I walked towards the forest and remembered my real parents.  I looked up in the sky and it seemed so dark the stars didn’t seem as bright and it felt like it held a heavy feeling to it.

‘Leah?’ I heard a voice behind me and I turned around facing Nico.

‘Why are you crying?’ he asked and I instantly touched my wet eyes. I hadn’t even realize I was crying.

‘I miss my parents,’ I said looking at the sky again. I knew he wouldn’t know what I was really talking about because in retrospect, he knew nothing about me.

He walked towards me and held me tight. I felt all my worries leave as I leaned back into his chest.

‘Hey I want to show you something,’ Nico said and grabbed my hand but waited for me to start walking. He led me through the trees to a big clearing. It was beautiful; you could see the stars clearly above you. I stared at the stars in awe.

I lied on the ground and it looked like the stars connected into pictures making identifying the constellations easier.

I sat up and looked at Nico who was smiling at me. He stared at me with those black eyes that seemed never ending. He had a flame in his hand and I stared at it confused and bewildered at the same time. It was blue then started changing color. My eyes got wide.

‘You’re doing that?’ I asked astounded. I crawled closer to him and watched the flame dance in his hand. I lifted my hand and slowly touched the flame. It felt cool and refreshing. I smiled as it turned green to purple. I pulled my hand out and my hand still felt cool which made me smile.

‘Leah,’ he said and I looked up. The flame had split and it was all around us dancing and changing colors. The flame made a ring all around the clearing and some flames were floating. The entire clearing was beautiful. The moon was directly above us and moon lilies sprouted all around us. It was crazy!

The place seemed like it was glowing. I was smiling looking at everything and I heard him laugh. It sounded gentle and carefree and I realized that this was the first time I’ve ever heard him laugh and the thought made me blush.

‘You look so cute. You look like a child on fourth of July.’ He said and I blushed deeper but smiled. I tackled him and laughed at the look on his face.

‘I got you to smile.’ He said smiling and I looked at him confused.

‘What?’ I asked.

‘You seemed pretty down these couple of days and I wanted to see you smile.’ He said turning slightly red and I laughed. Then it hit me.

‘Did you just call me cute?’ I asked and he laughed.

‘You realize this now?’ he asked and blushed.

He sat up and I started to move to get off his chest but he held tight so I couldn’t get away.  I leaned on his chest and looked at the stars with him.

‘Can you come with me to see my father?’ he asked and I turned my head to face him.

‘In the Underworld?’ I asked totally confused why he wanted me to go with him.

‘Me and my father aren’t really close and get into heated arguments pretty fast. I want you to come so I can stay calm and you never know you might see your little sister there too.’ He said looking down. I put my hand on his chin and raised it so he could look at me.

‘I would come even if I can’t see my sister.’ I said and he smiled. Suddenly the world seemed to slow down. I looked into his eyes as he started to lean in.

I can’t kiss him!

YES YOU CAN! And you want too!

No, he’ll be disgusted with me when he finds out what I am! I argued against my voice.

Then I felt his lips on mine and every thought I had to distance myself from Nico went out the door. I felt sparks and it felt amazing. His lips moved against mine and I kissed him back. It felt so passionate I could practically hear his emotions screaming at me.

Our hands got tangled in each other’s hair and I wanted to stay this way forever. His kiss was gentle yet passionate at the same time. The kiss soon grew deeper and we heard the trees rustle and we pulled apart. He pushed me behind him and Percy and Annabeth came into view. We groaned and they looked at us confused and I started blushing.

Percy grinned at Nico and he turned his head scowling and I laughed.

‘Sorry I didn’t realize we were interrupting something.’ Percy said. Nico looked pretty mad so I held his hand and I felt him instantly relax.

‘So what are you guys doing here?’ I asked Annabeth and realized they had big backpacks.

‘Camping,’ she said shrugging he shoulders.

‘You do realize we are at a camp right?’ Nico asked them.

‘Technically were off of camp and we wanted to do the whole “camping under the stars” thing’ Percy said and I rolled my eyes.

‘This late and dark at night?’ I asked crossing my arms in front of my chest trying to get warm. I didn’t realize how cold it was until I let go of Nico’s hand. Nico on the other hand seemed to realize I was cold and wrapped his arms around me. I blushed but didn’t move his arms because he was really warm and it was cold out. I was wearing a black tank and black pajama Capri’s so yeah I was cold.

‘Yup, would you like to join us? We brought two tents in case one was broken.’ Percy said and I looked at Nico who looked unsure. I’m sure my eyes probably had written on them: can we, can we?

He sighed but smiled.

‘Sure.’ He said. I smiled and hugged him and he seemed a little bit taken back but hugged me back. Someone coughed and I let go of Nico and blushed. What the hell? I was a girl that used to be called cold, distant, heartless and loner and now I’m blushing almost every ten seconds? Dam, old habits die hard.

‘Me and Leah will get some firewood and you guys will put up the tent.’ Annabeth said walking towards me. I have to say it hard leaving Nico’s arms but it had to be done. He let me go but took off his jacket and gave it to me. I didn’t protest because I was cold without him, so I took and blushed when he laughed lightly.

I still had his warmth and sweet fresh smell. I walked with Annabeth and we picked up some branches and notice something sparkle on her finger.

‘Annabeth are you engaged to Percy?’ I asked her and she turned deep red.

‘Yeah, he proposed about three months ago.’ She said smiling looking at the ring. I smiled at her and she looked at me.

‘Looks like I finally didn’t interrupt at a bad timing huh?’ she said smiling at me and I looked down blushing while picking up another branch.

‘I guess.’ I said and she chuckled. We were silent the rest of the time picking up branches but it was a comfortable silence. When we got back the tents were up and they were sitting on the floor. Me and Annabeth put the branches in the center of the clearing. I saw Nico in a tight fitted white shirt and nearly drooled. He looked so hot! I took off his jacket and was a little sad when he took it back.

I sat next to him but he didn’t seem happy. He pulled me into his lap and I swear my eyes were as big as flying saucers. I blushed for probably the billionth time that day but sighed. Nico lit the fire and it was pretty different shades of colors. Annabeth and Percy were roasting marshmellows but I wasn’t really hungry.

I leaned on Nico and for once on my life felt complete and at ease. I was really sleepy and I heard Nico say something then pick me up but I was too tired to argue. He put me in the tent and I felt the sleeping bag underneath me. He went to leave but I grabbed his arm before he could leave and I opened my eyes lazily.

‘Don’t leave.’ I whispered and I saw him smile.

‘I need to change into my pajamas but I’ll be back he said kissing my forehead and I let go unwillingly. A few minutes later he was back and he lied down next to me and pulled me close. I snuggled close to him and sighed in content. I felt him laugh lightly and kiss my head.

‘I love you Leah.’ He said and I felt my heart flip.

‘I love you too Nico.’ I said before I fell asleep to the fast sound of his heart.
