Looking down

Loki was proud of Peter, he was finally able to sleep without nightmares. He was surrounded by love and comfort, as was Loki.

Loki was also jealous, he hated that. Hated that his mind had decided to be jealous of someone for being ok. In his mind peter was everything he could've been if he had some one. Someone the way peter does, Loki knows that Tony loves him too. He tells him all the time that he's there for him, but to Loki it doesn't feel like it. Some nights he cries himself to sleep and others he can't sleep at all. When he closes his eyes, with the dark of the world settling on his skin and drowning out the noise all he can hear are Odins words.

"You're not good enough"

"Why aren't you like your brother"

"A serpent doesn't deserve love"

"Words that spill from your mouth hurt me like venom"

"No Odin your words hurt me like venom" but he could never talk back. Never defend himself because who defends themselves against a god? Who dares to defy not only their father but a ruler of a kingdom?

Questions he was asked, in order to force him to fit a mold. To be the perfect son, and he tried. He really did, but nothing he could ever do would add up to what Thor had already done. And in his fathers eyes, he wasn't worth the attention.

So yes, Loki was jealous. He shouldn't be and he knows it, but like every other intrusive thought, it had weaved it's way into his head.

It was another sleepless night, his mind numb to everything that happened. He became restless like he always does, and decided to go out. He slipped out from under the deep green comforter and teleported himself to the park. Central Park, it was a small patch of life surrounded by chaos. Despite the fact people viewed Loki as chaotic he never in fact liked chaos. It was too much all at once and even too many people talking at once gave him a headache.

So the peace of the little park calms his nerves. He never understood why he got so jumpy at night. Maybe the thought, as ridiculous as it seems, that he was the only one awake on this miniscule planet was slightly unsettling.

The dampness of the grass soaked through his clothes as he laid down. His hair tickling his shoulders along with the grass. He closed his eyes and took a breath. He really did feel completely and utterly alone. In about eight hours the world would be awake once again, Peter would be off to hang out with Ned and MJ. Tony would be working in the lab, ignoring the meetings he should attend. The other avengers would be off doing their own things and he would be left alone again. To repeat the cycle of existence and possibly sleep, if not then just endlessly exist. If he was lucky Peter would invite him out with them, maybe Tony would ask for help in the lab. No matter what though, I'm his mind. He was alone.

The small rectangle of Midgard technology buzzed in his right pocket. He pulled it out and turned it on, the item always amazed him, despite having used it so much. So much knowledge could be stored in one handheld device, but then again the tesseract was basically the same thing.

He checked the notification:

From Tony:
There's a portal opening up just above Central Park Idk where you are but we need to suit up and check it out

Weird usually he could sense when energy was being used on large scales. He guessed it was because of the relaxed and numb state of mind he was in. Now that he thought about it though, he did feel a pull. That was different, usually the energy spikes he felt, felt more like pushes. Not wanting him to interfere, but this one pulled him towards it. Before he could even register what was happening he was ten feet off the ground. The seemingly dark sky split and a bright orange light drew him in. He tried to move but his body was paralyzed.

He almost didn't hear the repulsors and shouts before he was pulled completely through.

"Where'd he go?" Shouted Tony through the comms panic was clear in his voice.

"I have no idea," responded Cap "what are you doing Tony?"

"I have to get him"

"You have no idea what going through could do to you" Bruce yelled.

"I don't care, I can't let him go" Tony shouted back.

He flew towards the gap and felt a sudden pressure on his right side. His body was thrown to the left and he rolled. Blinking a few times his eyes focused on Hulk.

"What was that for!"

"I'm not letting you potentially throw away your life, Loki can handle magic" Bruce explained when he had calmed down.

"But I-"

"Save it, we'll get him out" Nat said walking over to Tony, "at least for now there's no weird alien creatures coming through"

"It's closing" Clint exclaimed, and it was. The tear in the sky was sealing itself shut.

"What do we do now?"

Loki's return to consciousness reminded him of the time with Dr.Strange. It felt like he had been falling, only to suddenly change directions and soar upwards.

He struggled for a breath and coughed before sluggishly opening his eyes. The sight he saw was one he hoped never to see again. But he was here, in the dungeon of the Asgardian castle.

"Well well well, he's back. You're never leaving again boy" came the voice that chilled Loki's spine. "Welcome home"

It has been a minute, I wasn't going to write more in this book but then a few of you reminded me of Loki and I honestly can't believe I forgot. So this is going to be a kind of sequel only I don't feel like making a whole other book so i'm writing it here. This is going to follow a Loki centered plot, of course Peters going to be in it a lot but Loki deserves attention :)

I wanted to say a special thanks to all of you who have read, commented and voted on this story. It means the world to me that you guys like what I write. Remember you are loved and you can achieve anything

Good day/night lovelies until next time 🖤
