Peeta's P.O.V.

It's been a few weeks since I last saw Katniss and HU. I'm not going to face them now, they hate my guts. Danny and Jorel, especially, they can never forgive me for leaving and cheating on Katniss.

'Run home while you still can!' Danny had spat at me as he was being dragged off out of the hospital by Jordan and George and Dylan and Jorel followed them out.

I don't know where I am but it's close to where Danny lives, I'm sure of it, the houses are mansions with pools in the front yard and some of them even have stables at the end of the long gravel driveways. It's quiet except for a few cars driving past every now and then. It's peaceful as I contemplate going to apologise, even though I know he won't accept it.

Fuck it, I think to myself as I get out of my car, if he doesn't accept it then it's his problem, right?

I find his house. It's right at the end of a long street. It's a big house, not as big as the others but fairly big. I walk down the long gravel driveway towards the door, my nerves getting the best of me as I take a wobbly breath and knock on the door. I wait, no answer, I knock again, still no answer.

Danny's P.O.V

One knock, two knocks, three knocks, four knocks! Why is someone knocking on my door at three o'clock in the morning?

I sigh and put some underpants on. It's cold so I pull a coat over my bare body as I walk to the door. I open it a little and spot Peeta in front of it. He's sat on the front step as I swing the door open, which makes him jump.

'What are you doing here, manwhore?' I spit as he turns to look at me, 'thought I told you to stay the fuck away from me and my kids?'

'D-Danny... I... I...,' he stutters in fright.

'Daniel to you, only my friends and people I care about call me Danny.' I spit again, 'got that, mr Mellark?'

'I CAME TO APOLOGISES!' He explodes, 'WILL YOU LISTEN TO ME FOR ONCE IN YOUR SAD AND SORRY LIFE?!'

'I hear you, loud and clear, in fact,' I say in a snarky tone as Peeta turns to walk away, 'but, before you go...'

What I'm about to say isn't true, but I'm mad and I want to get a reaction out of him.

'What? He asks me sharply.

'The child Katniss lost...' I whisper.

'What about them?' Peeta asks me in a sharp voice again.

'They weren't yours.' I say quietly.

'What did you say?' Peeta snarls.

'They. Weren't. Yours.' I say louder.

He takes a swing for me but I duck just in time before he hits my face and hits the darkness behind me instead.

'We'll see about that, won't we?' He spits as if the words are venom in his mouth.

'If you go near Katniss you're a dead, dead man, Peeta Mellark, and I keep to my word.' I hiss as I push him away from the house, 'if you appear here again... well... let's just say it's not gonna end well for you.'

He nods and runs towards the entrance of the driveway. I watch until he's out of sight and turn to go back inside of the house.

He knows I'm not bluffing and that it won't end well for him if I see him again.

Katniss's P.O.V

I look for money as my father waits downstairs for me to find it. Where is it?! I sigh in frustration as I realise Peeta must've taken it before he left.

'Arrow?' I hear my father call up the stairs, 'have you found it?'

I make my way downstairs to where he's standing in front of me.

'He must've taken it!' I yell in anger, 'he took it all!'

'What?' He exclaims, 'Peeta took all of the money?! Where is he?!'

Just then, my phone makes a bzzt sound with a text from Danny.

Danny: We need to talk. Now. I'm coming over.

Me: Why? What's going on?

Danny: I'll tell you when I get there.

Me: I don't think coming here is the best idea...

He doesn't reply and just gives me a 'read'. I'm understandably confused at his words but I brush it off and go back to worrying about money and the people trying to find my father.

'What do we do, dad?' I ask him as I try not to let the worry in me show through my voice, 'he's taken all the money and left me with absolutely nothing!'

I break down in tears after speaking. It's all becoming too much, I shouldn't have to put up with being cheated on and everything else I've had to go through.

There's a knock on the door. Danny stood on the doorstep holding Scarlett's hand and resting Roman on his hip, it's evident he couldn't find someone to babysit them.

'What did you wanna talk about?' I ask him, 'I've got compa-.'

He pushes past me into the house and tells Scarlett to take Roman out of the kitchen while he talks to me about something.

'Sit.' He tells me as I'm the guest and not the opposite way around, 'we need to talk.'

I do as he says and sits. He sits across from me in silence for a few moments then speaks.

'Peeta... he came round to my place at 3AM this morning.' Danny tells me.

'Katniss why are there two kids in the living roo-' my dad walks into the kitchen just as I'm about to ask why Peeta went to see Danny. 'Kat, who's your friend?'

'Dad, this is Danny. Danny, this is my dad.' I introduce them both, silently wanting to get my father out of here while I talked to Danny.

'Nice to meet you, sir.' He stands up and shakes my dad's hand.

I'm getting impatient by this time and about to tell my dad to leave me and Danny to talk but the door is knocked on once again. I go to answer and Peeta is standing there, a furious look on his face.

"Peeta.. What are you doing here?" I ask.

'You get mad at me for cheating on you then you go and cheat on me?!' He yells in my face, 'I bet he's here, isn't he?!'

'What...?' I'm confused, 'it's only Danny...'

He pushes past me to get to him. Peeta's mad at Danny for no reason I can think of. They're arguing about something I have no intent of knowing about.

'What are you doing here? Trying to get her into bed again, are you?' I catch Peeta saying.

I watch from a distance but I can still see the hatred in their eyes even from behind the kitchen island.

'What are you on about...?' Danny sounds confused, 'I don't know what you're talking about.'

They're staring straight into each other's eyes angrily as I continue to watch them argue.

'Katniss, is it true you slept with Danny here?' Peeta asks me coldly as he avoids eye contact with me.

But before I can answer a window smashes in the front room and my father runs into the kitchen holding Scarlett and Roman and Ruby as he does so and slams the door shut.

'What's going on?!' I ask him as I take Ruby from him and Danny takes Scarlet and Roman from him.

'The people who want the money someone stole!' He looks at Peeta out of the corner of his eyes.

Peeta looks away uncomfortably. Shouts sound from behind the kitchen door and shortly a female scream sounds from the room.

Prim!

I run out of the kitchen; there are two people wearing masks holding a knife to her throat as tears roll down her cheeks. She's bruised all over and her nose is bleeding slightly.

I don't know what to do or who to call until there's a shout.
