A house that haunts me and a voicemail I'll keep forever.

I cower in the corner of my kitchen.
I can hear the hum of the fridge beside me.
I click the button on my phone that lets me hear their voices again.

Peter: Hey, baby, it's me. And Cherry. Say "hi, mama."
Cherry: Hi, mama!
Peter: We're on our way home now, Cherry had a great day at school and I had an amazing day at work, big news, can't wait to tell you. Oh, and we went to that store that has the caramel cheesecake ice cream you like so big day for us all. Heh, okay, almost there. Say "bye, mama."
Cherry: Bye, mama!
Peter: I love you.

Tears run down my face as I click it again.
It's been two days since they were taken from me.
It's never going to get easier.
